To survive, first you must Remember …

Etaine is a true-Eadar black-haired, white-skinned and emerald-eyed. When her band visits the Celtic settlement of Boath, she meets the true-Eadar Ranger Cormac, and believes she’s found her perfect mate. They come together in love but their coupling goes catastrophically amiss—with deadly consequences.

Seven years pass and Fada roam the Eadar’s lands, determined that their gods will rule its ancient crags, misty vales and silvery streams. The Fada hunt down and slaughter true-Eadar whose black hair, white skin and emerald eyes, tell of the old gods’ blood running through their veins.

The Rangers are sworn to protect and when the Fada gather to launch another deadly assault against the Eadar, the bands join to defend them, and Etaine comes back into contact with Cormac, the last Eadar she ever wants to see again.

But the Fada aren’t the only threat to the Eadar’s existence. The Eadar’s mixed blood has robbed them of Remembering and the old gods of the Celtic lands have been left too long neglected. To save the Eadar, Etaine and Cormac must join again, but first Etaine must learn to trust, and Cormac to Remember.

And time runs short; the Serpent rises.

This is a beautiful book that talks about a second chance. It's about a scarred heroine who struggles with terrible nightmares and has to forgive the man who abandoned her in the past, for the future of their people is in danger.
If you love Juliet Marillier's books about strong females and forests, I would recommend this one as a nice read.
