Newly turned lioness Maya Josephs is so not good at being the prima of the Ridgeville pride. She doesn’t give a damn about protocol or hierarchy, and the last thing she wants to do is play nice with the pretentious tigress shifter leader who’s come to pay her respects. Especially since the little bitch seems entirely too grabby with her mate, Alex, for Maya’s taste.
With new pregnancy hormones making her inner kitty extra bitchy, Maya’s not sure who she’s going to murder first: her gyno for discovering the pregnancy, her guards for following her every move (and annoying the living shit out of her), or the striped beyotch cooing over Alex. Screw it. She'll start with the tigress and work her way around to the other two.
Lucky for everyone involved, it’s a good thing Alex knows how to tame her inner she-cat…and make her purr.
I love Maya and all her nutty sass!! I really wanted more of her story after the first book and was thrilled with this!! Yeah!! And there is more time with her bunny BFF Carly!!! Add on five new smexy lions to drool over! Sigh, I am not going to sleep this week because I will be reading this series instead!!!
The beginning gives plenty of solid story to bring things up to date with Maya and Alex. Then hold onto your panties for the end!! Holy hot and smexy!! Yummy continuation of the first book and great lead in to the rest of the series!
I love Ms Kyle's sense of humor and the snark she instills in her characters. It is always a joy and more than one chuckle escapes while reading.
Maya Joseph is adjusting to her life as a newly shifted mate to the Alpha of the Ridgeville pride. Finding out she is pregnant though has her going a bit nutty, first she has to tell her mate, then she needs to kill the tigress shifter from another pack if she doesn't get her hands off her man.
Fun quickie with Maya in full force after learning she is pregnant.
I spent a lot of time this year reading series from book one on. It's not something that I usually do but I have been for some strange reason. I think part of it is that I didn't have as many arcs to do this year so I had more time for the books sitting around.
I picked this one for the trifecta reading challenge because it has everything. A hot man, great title and a lion. What more could we ask for?
It's a very short novella, only about 44 pages, and continues a bit from the first book in the series. Not only does it fit the challenge but it's also a great read. I laughed so much with it. I love the characters and the story worked for the short page count.
You get to know both Maya and Alex more and then men the protect her.
The humor in the story was perfect for me because I love a good funny story. I can't help but laugh at the things Maya does. The woman is a bit crazy dangerous. She's the type that will turn on you after sharing a joke with you.
Scary!!!
You're Lion adds to the series and was so much fun to read that I couldn't wait to read me. You really need to try this series. Make sure to read it in order and enjoy it!
I love Maya. This was a cute short story that continued Maya and Alex. I love how Maya has come into her own she is having a bad day she can't understand why Alex has five men guarding her. Maya takes a trip to the Gyno and has her wanting to kill Alex and everyone in her way so she flees her body guards and heads to her best friends house Carly who is a rabbit shifter. Maya just learned that she is pregnant and she is in a bitchy mood and the tigress with her hands on Alex pushing up on him gets it. I really like this series and I can't wait to read the rest of it I just wish that this book was longer.
This made for a steamy quick read. Maya, as always was hilarious. I've skipped around in the series, so it was fun to see Maya and Alex's reaction to her pregnancy. I'm glad it was offered as a kindleunlimited and I'll definitely continue this series.
This review was originally posted on One Curvy Blogger You're Lion is an example of how a sequel/novella can crash and burn if the author isn't careful. I so loved Maya and Alex in book one, and I couldn't wait to see how they would respond to Maya's newly discovered pregnancy. Unfortunately, this addition was pretty much a disaster, and I DNF'ed 40% in. Here are a few unfortunate reasons You're Lion did not impress this curvy gal:
The funny snark from book one took over this novella. It got to the point where I was rolling my eyes every time Maya said or thought something "witty." I'm as big a fan of snark as the next humor loving gal, but there comes a point where it can become too much and negatively affect the story. There was so much rambling I could barely keep up. It's one thing to have a character with attention issues, it's another thing entirely when the author can't edit herself. It became a huge issue when I could barely keep up with not only the characters thought process, but the author's voice. When she wasn't switching from one topic to the next, Kyle was taking up precious paragraphs to overly describe things like GYN visits and paper gowns. No woman needs that much description about a GYN visit. We've all had them and I certainly don't need or want chapters dedicated to describing them in detail. I have my horror stories - I don't need new ones.
I am so disappointed in You're Lion. I absolutely loved the first in the series. How could Kyle go so wrong? I'm struggling with the curiosity to pick up book two (if this mini Alex and Maya story was just a fluke) or to move on to better books. No matter how the next in this series turns out, I don't encourage anyone to pick this one up. It's short, but anything from sweet - spend your money elsewhere!

Ehhhhhh.... I really liked seeing more of Maya and Alex, but this was almost cruel in its brevity. We don't get to see much as I think we should. The information we get in this story could've been condensed into an epilogue.
That's my main critique. The story was barely a teaser, and left me wanting so much more.
I like the information we got, but I want so much more!!
What a fantastic little short into the life and mind of this queen lioness! I love her quick whit and staunch support of her friends and how she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty. The author did a wonderful job of bringing on the snark, and the panic, in this brief glimpse into the lion pride and what their future holds. I can’t wait to read more!
The female main character is 100% unlikeable and she's in ALL the rest of books as a supporting character. It seems to be a trend in Celia Kyle books that the female main character in the first book of a series is annoying AF and then gets more and more annoying in each subsequent book. I'm not sure why this is because other FMCs in other books are fine.
Kindle unlimited purchase By Celia Kyle First off LION SHIFTER enough said. Maya has found out some surprising information. Alex can't find his mate, he has looked all over for her. Well everywhere BUT her best friends house. This was a fast read. Great for a bath or a lunch break.
I feel a little cheated by how short this book is- not the length of the pages per say, but the contents of plot that actually happened in the book. Nothing happened...one conversation topic that started the scene and finished it a few pages later. There was more conversation happening with side characters than between the actual two characters.
The characters' personalities jump off of the page. Maya with her bigger than big personality and her strange sense of humor make the story hum. Of course there is all of that Heat.
Maya has taken to her role as prima like a champ. She and Alex will have a great life together, if he gets with her program. Kitty's got claws and is not afraid to use them.
Hot lion shifters! I'm new to the author and I haven't read a shifter romance, but this caught me within the first two pages and read it in one sitting g. Grab this book and you won't be disappointed!
I love this series and I recommend it. Maya Josephs is a newly turned lioness. Maya's pregnancy has her inner kitty extra b*tchy and she doesn't give a damn about protocol or hierarchy especially when it comes to her mate Alex and another tigress is a little too grabby.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series, and while I think it can be read as a stand alone, it should probably be read in order. This is number 2. Love the characters. Maya is amusing 4 stars
