A modern day shifter tale inspired by the folktale Aladdin! Bodyguard Alek Kern needs a new job. The tiger shifter is supposed to be keeping curvy Jessica Sheridan safe but she’s made it her mission to make his job as difficult as possible. She gets under his skin like no one has before and he’s had enough. Alek decides to get as far away from Jessica as possible, get a new job, and start a new life. Right as he’s planning his exit, an unexpected attack makes him to reconsider. He’s forced to have to follow Jess into dangerous shifter territory. All he wants to do is get her home safely so he can quit. His tiger has other plans. This is the first book in the Shifters Everafter series. It is a standalone story with a HEA.
Read in SPRING FEVER anthology. This was an ok story but not great. Shifter bodyguard who knows little about being a shifter. Works for a politician who hates shifters. Is guarding the politicians daughter, who is his mate, for years before the tiger loses patience and bites her. Really, YEARS. Not on par with any shifter story I have read. Heroine runs away from dad to follow a fairy tale straight into trouble. Pair have sex and that is that. HEA. Too fragmented for me to enjoy.
DELIGHTFULLY ENCHANTING !!! Title: Tiger Bite Series: Shifters Everafter Designation: Book One, Standalone, NO Cliffhanger Author: Lola Kidd My Rating: FIVE DELICIOUSLY CUTE STARS***** What a delightfully sweet, completely unique and totally contemporary spin on one of my most favorite fairy tales. Leave it to Lola Kidd to deliver such a wonderful twist on the age old folktale of Aladdin and the Lamp. I love it! Tiger Bite is the first magical story in an enchanting new series by Lola and I can hardly wait to see what else she has in store for us. These are all modern recreations of classics we all know and love and are all standalone short novellas which, of course, have a happy ending! And as are all of Lola's books, this book is well crafted, well written and well edited. The narrative is written in the third person with alternating his and her points of view from our hero and heroine which gives us more insight into the characters and the development of the story, not that this story is complicated but it is certainly a sweet treat. It's also imaginative, original and totally enchanting. I can hardly wait to see which fairy tale she has in store for us next!
Tiger shifter Aleksander Kern is tired of playing nursemaid to Governor Roger Sheridan's daughter, Jessica. She's a grown woman for pete's sake! Why does she insist on trying to run away. She knows full well that she's in extreme danger because of her father's anti-shifter political views. He was too busy admiring the zeroes on his salary when he accepted the job but he's finally had enough. He's determined to leave and find another job. Besides, if anyone ever found out he's a tiger shifter, it would mean big trouble. Apparently, Alek's tiger didn't get the memo because he's determined to follow the beautiful Jessica - no matter the danger. And it seems his tiger may have much more than a professional interest in the lovely young woman. What the heck? Will he be able to reach Jessica before it's too late or is he the real danger??? Jessica Sheridan can't catch a break. She just wants to get away from her father before he forces her to marry someone she doesn't love but her darn bodyguard seems to find her every time. How in the world does he do that??? When she sets off on a hopeful quest that may change her life forever, will she finally be able to discover the truth of her mother's death and find the future she seeks??? We'll see!!! Deliciously cute and delightfully entertaining!!!
You can't pick who you love or who you are related to not matter how much you might want to do so. Alex is a shifter who hides his identity because his employer is very anti-shifter since his wife was killed by a shifter. Alex is responsible for making sure no one gets to his employer's daughter, Jessica, and she doesn't make it easy. She is always trying to get away and he has to bring her back. She hates being under her father's control and it is getting even worse lately with the restrictions. Alex has feelings for her which he denies until Jessica is at risk. His tiger knows she matters to him much more than a job.
It is a quick read with a fast-moving romance. Jessica is a young woman who wants to have a simple life. Her father changed so much when her mother was killed. He is full of anger and hate so she makes plans to escape. She has flirted with Alex but nothing more happens until her escape. It is when she is in danger that Alex reveals more of himself to her and they realize they have been denying their feelings. Alex is determined to avoid issues but when he can't he is not one to flee. He stands up and protects those he cares about. He is a very protective man and his tiger is equally devoted.
Lola Kidd opens her new Shifter Everlasting series with this compact tale of Jessica, the overprotected daughter of a shifter hating politician, and of Alek, a human raised tiger shifter who is hiding his true nature in order to maintain his job as bodyguard to Jessica. When Jessica decides to break away from her constricted life and to chase after the same mythical power that ultimately led to her mother's death, Alek's tiger makes it impossible for him to deny the fact that Jessica is his mate. That only leaves the question of whether or not he will be able to claim what is his and to keep her from harm as she throws off the restrictions that bind her and races toward her desired future.
I enjoyed this fast paced read and the chance to be explore a brand new world of Lola's making. I look forward to journeying further into this environment via the subsequent entries in this series.
An arc was received in exchange for an honest review.
2 1/2 Stars - Alex is a tiger shifter. He is the head of security for her father's detail service. Her father wants her to marry and she refuses . He is anti-shifter and does not know Alex is a shifter. Jessica is always running away. Alex is frustrated because he's always having to babysit her.
One night she runs away into the forest, his tiger takes over his body and he can't control him his tiger marks Jessica as his mate . He is shocked by this because he had no idea she was his mate. Now these two have an interesting journey ahead of them.
The problem I find with this author's books are that you feel like you have read around 40% of the shirt story and then it is abruptly over. You're left with this whole concept that has potential and the author does not follow through. It's unfortunate because I read a lot and I know the stories have potential.
ARC Honest Review: Lola Kidd does some of her best work when writing "Tiger Bite". She uses Aladdin as a basis for the book. I was really impressed with how she went about writing this book.
Alek Kern is the body guard for Governor Sheridan's daughter. Alek has been thinking that it is time to change jobs. He is tired of chasing after the Governor's daughter, or is he?
Jessica Sheridan is tired of being followed around by all the security her father has following her. Her father gives her an ultimatum and so Jessica decides to leave for good this time.
Governor Sheridan is against shifters.
Not going to tell any more about this book. Don't want to give away all the surprises that Lola Kidd has in the book. Read the book and I am sure you love it. I recommend this book especially if you love shifter novels, murder, and mystery.
I received a free review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Alek and Jessica are mates but Alek doesn't realize it. He keeps chasing Jessica around because she keeps escaping and he is her bodyguard. Alek is a tiger shifter so he has the ability to find Jessica even when she escapes to an area that is forbidden for humans. Jessica's mother was killed trying to find where a map lead her. Supposedly it lead to a genie of sorts. Jessica is trying to find out if it's true. So Alek tries to find her and when he does, things are not quite safe in the forbidden zone. Jessica has no idea that Alek is a shifter so things get all jumbled. It is not confusing but very entertaining to watch as Jessica keeps escaping. See how Alek and Jessica get together. I really enjoyed this story and am ready for the next one.
Getting your wish Jessica Sheridan is the daughter to the state governor who is very Anti-shifter ever since his wife and her mother got killed by a shifter. But Jessica feels suffocated and more like a prisoner in a gilded cage. So she keeps trying to escape but always get brought back without too much of a fight. Except when she find a map that had belonged to her mother tell of a fabled Lamp that give one a wish. She truly escapes this time and is headed right into a shifter tow that’s not known for good shifters. Alek, Jessica’s bodyguard follows her and for some unknown reason to him his tiger side takes over and decides to mark Jessica. You see Alek is a bit disconnected to his tiger side. A lot more happens and is very entertaining to read this well written story.
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Lola Kidd. This is book 1 of Shifters Everafter series by the author.
Jessica Sheridan can not stand to have guards on her when she leaves home to go any where so she comes up with a plan to run away but things start to unravel for her. Alek Kern is a guard and also a shifter for a man who hates shifters. No 1 can guard his daughter Jessica like Alek can and the reason becomes clear when his tiger chases after her.
The author gave the characters very good interaction. This is definitely a book that I could not put down.
This is for any mature paranormal romance book lover.
Always looking for a way to leave her overbearing father Jessica follows the path that got her mother killed 15 years ago. Only to find out the shifters she was taught to fear and hate were victims themselves. Her bodyguard Alex has secrets he has been hiding that all come out when his tiger take Jess as his mate. The challenges of finding what her mother sought so long ago along with the discovery of her killer brings Alex and Jessica to a turning point in their relationship. Great start to this series.
I got this in exchange of an honest review, I am a fan of a Lola work a lot I love shifters as well and in this one the tiger is hot I loved Alec and Jessica a lot I loved how they meet interact exchange a lot of things between them the action the sparks were amazing so was the action suspense I was surprised in certain chapters but other than that everything was perfect I recommend her to everyone you will enjoy her work of art that captures your mind and imagination I know it did for me a lot
Jessica hated being followed every day. Getting away from her. Guards had become as much game as necessity. Alex saw no humor in her constant effort to escape. He,d tired of chasing her and working for her anti shifter politician father. He hated the jabs about his interest in Jessica by his team. He wanted to leave but couldn't leave her.
When she rebels and escapes can he keep his tiger inside or does his tiger know more. Can he keep her safe
This one could use a more story and character building but a good enough short.
Tiger Bite:BBW Shape Shifter Paranormal ROMANCE( Shifters Ever after Book1)
Alex was Jesse's body guard,he had to follow her around where ever she went. She didn't know he was a shifter and neither did her father.Jesse's mother was killed by a shifter.Jesus was always trying to get away from her father and be on her own, since he was in politics she couldn't go any where on her own.Always thinking about her mom Jess takes off. This is where the adventure begins.Read the book,it is great.
This was a very quick read, but a cute one at that. I really enjoyed the spin Kidd put on the classic story if Aladdin. What an excellent alternative to a lamp followed by a surprise I did not see coming! While one legend in this book is falsified, another is proven true. I would personally like to know what happens with the dodo in future books. Does he simply stay hidden in the cave or will he make a reappearance? I'd love to see him appear in future books (as Abe does in Red and the Tiger). Overall, a short but sweet HEA read with no cliffhanger.
Put a side an hour and a half. This is a great read and you can finish it quickly. An innocent woman with a father with political aspirations finds herself being forced into an arranged marriage. She has other ideas and runs away. That is when things get interesting. She finds out her bodyguard is a tiger shifter and her mate. This is Lola Kidd at her best!
Aladdin + shifters = a very interesting spin on a classic. This surprised me with the depth of characters that we meet in the story. Jess was nice, sassy and craving independence. Alek just makes you want to drool but makes you admire his loyalty and concern for Jess. This had an ending that wasn't expected but worked out real well for all involved. Can't wait to see the next fairy tale turned shifter.
I received an arc in exchange for a honest review. Lola Kidd has out did herself with the new Shifters Forever series based on foke tale like Aladin for this story. Alek Kern is a bodyguard to a shifter hating governor daughter Jessica who hates being treated like a child so when she runs away and something horrible happen it makes Alek tiger acknowledge her as her mate. Quick cute story with a great storyline and loveable characters you can wait to read more about.
I have read others of Lola's that I enjoyed, but this one isn't included with those. The 2 characters getting together was good simply because they were both so stupid they were made for each other. A lot of authors note asking us to leave a review "if you enjoyed the book". I'm a firm believer that it goes both ways-I won't just leave fluffy happiness. Fair is fair.
Alex and Jenn story was cute. He's their to protect her as a bodyguard from shifters because her dad is a powerful politician who's anti shifters. Unbeknownst to him that his best bodyguard is a tiger shifter. When Jess sneaks out and Alex goes to search for her his tiger comes out to mark his mate finally. Then that's when all the action happens.
This book was really good. It has a bit of everything in it. We meet a man who hates shifters and because of that he is over protective of his daughter. She can't stand being kept like a prisoner. She gets to run away alot. Will she make it this time? Will he follow her? Will they realize they are mates?
I received this free copy from the Author for an honest review.
Kindle Unlimited standalone shifter book. He's there to protect her. Everyone can see that she's his mate but him. When she goes into the woods to find a way to bring her mom back, his cat takes over and bites her. Can he save her? Will she be able to accept who/what he is? Good 4 - 4 1/2 star read.
Wonderful fairy tale shifter twist! Fun, thrilling, exciting and at turns exasperating at the heroines dad!!! Almost all the other characters are lovable, but that dad, and the secret bad guy hiding in plain sight!!! Very well worth reading!!!!
This book is a wonderful beginning to this new series of, Shifters Everafter. Luckily you're able to trust the tiger more than the man. I really enjoyed reading Lora Kidd's little fairy tale.
Everyone feels like running away from life every once in awhile. With this story you get to for awhile. Then the hot tiger catches you. Mmmmm tigers yummy.
This was a great story. All of Ms. Kidd's books are. I would love to see more to each of the stories though. All of her characters are great but the stories need more to them. I will however, be reading more of her books.
