A Game of Hearts #2

Runaway Heart: A Game of Hearts Novel

Rate this book
One Hurricane. Two Strangers. No Rules.

Hannah Adamson was immune to relationships. Swearing men off long ago, she buried her painful reasons under her feisty independence and a passion for roller derby. Until she met Ed and was swept away by the tall, witty, sarcastically sexy best man who might just be the one to have the antidote for her runaway heart.

Ed Alcott wasn’t looking for love, especially not after a particularly nasty breakup left him with a shattered heart in desperate need of repair.

Taking shelter together when a hurricane bears down on Rum Cay, Hannah and Ed find they can't fight their growing attraction. It was supposed to be simple. Easy. A weekend of passion with no strings. But how do you forget the one who stripped away all your layers, and haunts your dreams?

Can Hannah keep the scattered pieces of her heart in check, or will the promise of Ed’s love be enough to mend them back together?

*** 4 "Fight your demons" stars***

Phew!!! That was a very touching story...
It was a story about love and how love can be your motive to chase away your demons...
Because when you will set yourself free from all the pain that is holding you a prisoner, you can be free to love and to be loved with all of your heart!!!

That was a deeply emotional story...
That was Hannah's and Ed story....

Hanna and Ed met to the wedding of their best friends... and from the first moment there was a pull between them. Two days together and a hurricane brought them really close, but their lives were miles apart and their own fears got in the way...
Several months after, they are still on each other's mind and then Hannah is visiting England for her roller derby and a meeting by chance bring them together for once again...

Now, after two weeks together, it's a lot harder to let go each other but they should do it...
They are having lots of things that they are standing in their way... and mostly Hannah's fears...
So, Ed had to let her go and to pray that she will fight her demons and that she will come back to him...

Will Hannah manage to set herself free from her invisible chains and to find her way back to Ed???
And will Ed continue to wait for her???

Hannah was afraid of love. She never thought that she could bound her life with another creature, especially with a man. She didn't trust them and these feelings were coming from her own past... For years she was witnessing a man to manhaddle his woman and that scarred her soul so deeply.

Now, she is a strong, independent woman who didn't want love to comlpicate the things for her.
Ed's personality showed her that no all the men out there are untrustfull...
He showed her that love can set you free and that scared her and made her run away from him!!!
She needed to protect her heart!!!

Ed wasn't the usual type of man. He was a wonderfull, funny, thoughtfull and compassionate person. He's been hurt to the past from the woman he thought he loved and he didn't expect to fall for Hannah. But he did and he was determined to help her realize that love was a good thing.
And when the time had come to let her free to find her own way to his heart, he did it even though that his heart was breaking for once again...

I really loved this couple. They had so many things to fight, but they never lost their humor...
I liked the way that they were together and how they were craving each other when they were apart...
I liked how they became each others motivation to fight their own demons and start to live again...

Their love for each other made them stronger than ever and it was so solid that they could continue to live even though they didn't have each other by their side...

I also want to say that i really liked the way that the authors handled this form of abuse and i think that they gave interesting informations how women have to face their problem.
I also admired so much Della's efforts with her shelter...
She was giving to lost souls the motivation to fight their fears and to start living again!!!

A house in an island, a hammock, towels, a tent, Orgasm on the Beach (that's the name of the wine in case you're curious), hurricanes, thunderstorm, Rum Cay Island. Well, that's basically how I summarize Hannibelle and Ed's tumultuous weekend and the start of a whirlwind love affair.

NOT!

Hannah Adamson, aka Hannibelle Lecter, her code-name in roller derby, hides behind her past. She doesn't trust guys, she doesn't believe in love, she doesn't care about real men with honest intentions. Because she thinks all men are abusers, users, losers. Take it from her, she's lived with one.

Now Ed is a different story that Hannah doesn't want to know. Ed Alcott, a charismatic Englishman, a bartender in London, a truthful man with clear intentions. He is every woman's dream, but unattainable. Because he has been fooled once. And he vows, never again.

Until that one fateful night in the island.

Something has changed between them. Something has triggered their emotional wells. Something promising. Something eerily romantic. Something possible.

But adamant Hannah decides to end it all up. She doesn't do relationships so she stops whatever she's feeling. But why oh why, two months after their encounter, she finds herself hopeful and morose at the same time? She doesn't want anything to do with Ed, but she strives hard to win every roller derby bout to make it to London Olympics? Does London have anything to do with it? Or does Ed?

Once again, the dynamic duo of Candace Knoebel and Sonya Loveday mesmerized me. Runaway Heart is another winner under their belt and I'm so happy to have been one of their readers. I loved their first book, Love Always, and with this new story, I met Philip and Maggie again. But this time, their best friends Ed and Hannah who captured my heart. A story about broken pasts, chaotic childhood, abusive parents, cheating bastards and roller blades. I got angry for Hannah, I felt miserable for Ed, but somehow in the end, I sighed with contentment and happy warm feelings. Runaway Heart is really great!

I love this writing duo! I’m not sure how that works, just that it does. With Runaway Heart (A Game of Hearts #2) they delivered a stellar follow-up to Love Always (A Game of Hearts #1). Once again Sonya Loveday and Candace Knoebel weave a sweet and tender love story about first love and what it takes to overcome long endured emotional roadblocks.

Our heroine and hero, Hannah and Ed, have that special oomph that makes their story one to read. Their first interactions show Ed’s light and flirty nature and Hannah’s soft and saucy side. Hannah is the first “roller derby “ character that I’ve come across and this made the story unique. The physical nature of the job bolsters the shield she builds around her. But away from that life she’s vulnerable and in the mere 36 hours or so together, Ed’s charm gets to her.

What drives the story is Hannah’s background growing up in a domestic abuse situation. The flashbacks and descriptions are well done and explain her relationship rules. Ed has his own history of heartbreak and although he’s hesitant he’s more a risk taker than Hannah. The authors create a history between Hannah and Ed that while improbable, it’s still plausible and supports that image that they “meant to be”. With that, the secondary characters further the connection between them, demonstrating the shared trait of loyalty and adding comic relief.

The pace of the story and the way the authors explore the cycle of abuse ( both physical and mental) made this a very compelling read. As was the case with Love Always, it’s the dialogue (particularly with Ed) that made this a great read and pushed it up in rating. The language used by Hannah and her roller derby girls was spot on and the flirty chat between Ed and Hannah is enough to make us blush. Beyond that the authors do a great job affecting the accents from Ed, Charlie, and Violet, which make the pub scenes seem all too real. I suspect at least one of these is written from first hand experience.

I’ll sum this up as I did with Love Always. Runaway Heart is simply a delightful read and well worth a 4.5 star recommendation. It also reconfirms my notion that the writing partnership between Sonya and Candace is magical.

4.5 stars!

I'm a big fan of both these authors books that they write separately, and I loved the first book in this series that they wrote together! I loved it so much that I could totally see a book for the two main characters of this book, as they were secondary characters in the first book, so I was very excited when I read that a book for them was happening! I then received an ARC from the authors and started reading as soon as I could! I loved this book! I may actually have loved it more than the first book! The plot was also amazing! It developed at the perfect pace and it held my interest all the way through! There were some very beautiful moments in it and it also dealt with a topic that is very difficult to talk about, but has a big effect on people! I loved that the authors took the step to write about it and that they didn't hold back whilst writing about it! The plot was also a bit quirky and I just loved it! The ending was also perfect and left me grinning like an idiot lol! The characters were also amazing and made the plot even better! Hannah was the main female character, and my heart completely went out to her in this book! Her childhood had been horrendous and she had witnessed some horrific and deplorable things that no child should ever see and no person should ever have to go through! Hannah's childhood still affected her a lot years down the line and this book was about her learning that not all men are the same as her father! Hannah came such a long way in this book and she was a much stronger character at the end! Ed was the main male character and love interest of Hannah! Ed was a typical English guy with his straight-talking, ballsy attitude! He was also very hot! I just loved Ed and he was very funny at times! Well, he made me laugh lol! I also loved how Ed was with Hannah! He knew that something was going on with her, so he waited for her to tell him and he didn't rush her! He also helped her through a lot and anyone could see that he had deep feelings for her! I also loved that he waited on Hannah and that he didn't give up on a relationship with her! It told me a lot about the kind of guy he was! I loved that this book was written from both Hannah and Ed's point of views! I was expecting it to be after I read the synopsis, but I'm really glad it was! It helped me connect even more with both characters, and it made more sense as both characters spent time in different countries! I also couldn't tell which author wrote which character lol! I'm assuming that this is the final book in this series, but I would love these two authors to write more books together! I love their style and they work so well together! The cover for this book is stunning! I know that the authors changed the cover just after it was released, and I was a big fan of the original cover, but I love the new cover more! I love that it has a couple on it and the models on the front are the perfect Hannah and Ed! Big thank you to Sonya and Candace for an ARC of Runaway Heart!

A joyously emotional story told with the most deliciously fabulous flow, the authors have managed to bring to life a story that is crammed full of characters that I simply adored.
The story itself is one winds its way from the first flush of love through to the discovery of what it takes to keep a love that is determined to last a lifetime, despite the stumbling blocks of a life not only lived but survived.
The story is that of Hannah and Ed and they are a strong pair with a depth of character that makes them impossible to ignore.
Hannah is a strong character, although her exterior belies the kind heart that she shield so fervently. Her career means that she has more to gain by keeping the softer side of her nature well-hidden but that didn’t mean that she could fool herself.
Ed on the other hand is quite the opposite, or so it seemed to me.
And after their initial meeting his wit and charm seems to have her resolve wilting.
Could he win through her hardened exterior?
I found the reminiscence’s from Hannah’s past to present meant that I could completely absorb the magnitude of the events that Hannah has endured during her childhood.
Life has been abusive and it was shrouded by those events, the ones with which she tries to dictate the shape of her relationship with Ed, little does she know that he has his own demons to fell.
The connection they forge is tentative in the beginning as would be expected but it is littered with all the signs that it could quite possibly have what they need to last a lifetime.
I liked the way that the story took a sensitive history and with an authorative tone and beautifully sensitive phrasing presented me with a story that was quite simply exceptional.
It held my attention from start to finish and at times left me holding my breath for longer than I possibly dared.
I enjoyed the banter, the wit and the charm, the colloquialisms and attitude that not only the main characters but the super secondary characters brought to the page

Another winner from Candace and Sonya!! After reading Love Always, Maggie and Philip's story, I couldn't wait to read Ed and Hannah's! I wasn't disappointed!

Hannah is a passionate young woman who loves Roller Derby. She's at a crossroads in her life, trying to figure out where she's going and what she wants to do when she gets there. Ed is a charming English gentleman. He is witty to boot! Neither is looking for a relationship.

After a whirlwind romantic weekend celebrating their best friend's wedding, Ed and Hannah part ways to return home. Although their lives continue on in their perspective countries, they can't stop thinking about each other.

Will they take a chance at true love? Or will Ed and Hannah allow their pasts to dictate their futures?

I loved Ed in Love Always and I fell IN love with him reading this! His personality is infectious. I've tried to read characters with accents in the past and I feel like my imagination doesn't do it justice. However, the way Candace and Sonya write, little is left to the imagination! It's just perfection. No other word can describe it.

Candace and Sonya have created such amazing characters with even more amazing chemistry. I particularly enjoyed Hannah and Maggie's friendship. The pair are more like sisters and they never give up in each other. They lift each other up when the other is down. They help each other be better people.

The only reason I gave Runaway Heart 4 stars is because I wanted more. I feel like an epilogue similar to the one in Love Always would wrap up the ending better. I personally wanted to hear more about Ed's reaction to the end. Also, I had some unanswered questions that may or may not have been answered with a little more at the end. That could just be me though. ;)

Anyway, great job ladies!

I was given this book in return for my honest opinion.

We meet Hannah Adamson who is a young lady who is at a crossroad's in her life and has no idea as to which way she should turn. The only thing Hannah knows is that she is completely sworn off men and definitely not interested in having any sort of relationship with the opposite sex.

WE then meet English gentleman Ed Alcott who is over to be best man at his best friends wedding. The girl his best friend is marrying is Hannah's best friend. Sparks and Fireworks start going off as soon as Hannah and Ed meet for the first time and end up spending the weekend together as they have to take shelter when a hurricane bears down in Rum City. Its during this weekend they decide as neither is looking for a relationship they will no strings attached fun for the weekend and will return back to their normal life's.

Ed goes back to England and Hannah carries on her life as usual but there is a problem even though they both agreed their weekend would be no strings attached neither can forget about each other and are invading each others dreams which wasn't part of the deal they made with one another.

Despite the distance and their pasts will Ed and Hannah be able to put their pasts where they belong in the past and give each other a chance and a shot of love or will they just ignore the feelings they have for one another.

Another fantastic book from two awesome authors. I enjoyed this book so much! It was so intense and emotional. And the characters were great. I adored Ed in Love Always, but I fell in love with him in this one. He was so funny! And such a sweetheart! I want one lol! Hannah I had a harder time connecting with, I'm not sure why exactly, but I did feel sorry for her and what she has gone through. The authors tackled such a difficult issue with great class.
Ed and Hannah had amazing chemistry. These two were perfect together. While it could be classed as insta-love, it never felt like that. Their relationship blossomed beautifully. They had so much in common and had such a wonderful connection.

Even though I enjoyed Love Always, a bit more, I still really liked this one. Such a moving story with a powerful message of no matter how broken you may think you are, there is always hope. A compelling and engaging read, I highly recommend this one!

In Runaway Heart Ed and Hannah have a chance at the kind of love that can last forever but will it have a chance to start?

After an occasion of true love to celebrate Maggie and Phillip from Love Always, the best man and maid of honor go beyond the call of wedding duties. Forced by nature the two endure a time together that cannot be forgotten.

Each has their own lives, with their own problems, in two very different areas of the world. After going separate ways the two find that staying away may be harder than it seems.

Ed and Hannah were two people to help bring Maggie and Phillip together in Love Always. In Runaway Heart will they help each other to fight the past to find love in one another?

I loved this book just as much as Love Always. Each book in this series keeps the reader wanting more. Following the lives of each character in the series is an emotional adventure that I can't get enough of. Sonya and Candace write in synchronized perfection.

These two authors, Candace and Sonya, has got my imagination running away with thoughts of sexy English Gentleman!

I thought Love Always was such an excellent read and that there was no way they could top it.
They proved me wrong with Ed and Hannah's story!

Hannah is at a point in her life where she she needs to figure out what she wants her future to entail.
She’s a determined and heart felt women.

Ed reminds me of a sexy prince charming, only with an accent.
He is an all around polite gentleman.

When these two meet at their best friend's wedding, sparks fly, and they end up spending a romantic weekend together.
Since neither of them are looking for relationships,  they go their separate ways, and return to their homes.

Each of them go on with their lives,  but still are continuously thinking about the other.

What will these two broken people do to have a chance at love?

Find out in "Runaway Heart"!

This is the first book of either authors that I've read, and it won't be the last.

This is a wonderful story about facing your fears and weakness, and finding the power to rise above them.

Hannah is a sweet girl, but hides the pain of her childhood by not letting people get too close. The subject matter in this book is very serious, and the authors did a fantastic job writing it respectfully and not making light of it. They showed Hannah's emotions beautifully.

Ed is an absolute charmer. I loved him right away, and knew he was a good guy. He's also dealing with a painful past, but he doesn't let it dictate his life. I love that he pushes Hannah to let her guard down.

If you have trigger issues, proceed with caution. While there aren't any extremely graphic scenes in the book, there are some descriptive ones. Overall this story is about hope, love and courage. I very much enjoyed Hannah and Ed's story.

A girl with a troubled childhood who believes she's incapable of loving or being loved.
A guy who with a heart of gold and the patience of a saint wants to love her like she deserves but she fights it. Her insecurity, her inability to let herself believe she's worthy of what he's offering her is heartbreaking yet angers me at the same time.
Runaway Heart deals with physical and mental abuse. And while it's not handled with kid gloves it's not overly detailed either making it easy to read. No abuse is "easy" to handle so maybe that's not the right word for me to use, but the way the book is written softens the blow that was Hannah's reality.
The story is well written, keeping the reader engaged from beginning to end and showing us that no matter what's happened or how broken you think you are, there is always hope.

This is the first book I've read by these authors and was impressed. The story grabbed me from the first chapter. The characters were real and believeable. Hannah had a hard life growing up and never made mends with it. Ed was hurt with life and moved on without making amends. When the two are stranded on an island the connection is made and there lives change whether they want them too are not. Once they admit there true feeling, there pasts must be dealt with before the future can occur. The love and emotions was protrayed in a way that put you in there story. I really loved this book! It started slow.. wasn't super into it at first. Could of put it down & never picked it up. But less than a 4th of the way though it picked right up! I wanted to keep reading to see what was in store for Hannah & Ed! I loved them! Ed was so witty and charming! I'm so glad that Hannah & her mom reunited & she stood up to her shitty father! I loved how it ended too!

Do you believe in lust at first sight?? Of course who doesn’t right?? But do you believe in losing your heart to that person??? Runaway Heart is a book about second chance at love, when your first chance you were too scared to make the move.
When Hannah attends her best friends wedding and gets stuck with the best man, Ed. Neither was looking for love, maybe just a quick tumble. Hannah is no nonsense roller derby chick and Ed is a bloke from Britain trying to find his place after returning home to England. So when a hurricane rocks the island of Rum Cay and the two find themselves thrown together. Together they find a night of passion. Neither one expecting to end up wanting more.
When months later fate places Hannah and Ed in the same place at the same time, you get to see how sometimes the heart finds exactly what it needs.
Sonya & Candace have done it again with a sweet romance that grabs you and makes you feel all the emotions of a love found when least expected. I got swept up in the twists and turns of Runaway Heart. Grab this book if you want a guaranteed HEA that will leave you smiling.

This is a great follow up to Love Always: Game of hearts #1. Ed and Hannah are best man and maid of honour for Phillip and Maggie's wedding. A quick week-end in Rum Cay turns into something else when they are stranded due to a hurricane. The rules are no commitment and they go their seperate way without exchanging phone numbers. However, though neither of them wants to admit it, they have fallen for each other. Fate has other plans and they both end up in London and find each other. Their feelings are undeniable but again they part, this time with the promise of keeping in touch and sorting out their relationship, but Hannah stops calling and Ed thinks he has lost her. What he doesn't know is that Hannah is slaying her demons and when she does she finds her way back to him. Lots of emotions in this book.

Thank you to Mark My Words PR for accepting my request on Netgalley to read this book.

I read the first book in this series Love Always a few months ago and I really loved it. I had also read the first book in The Six series  by Sonya The Summer I Fell last year. There is something about Sonya and Candance's writing that hooks you.

Hannah and Ed haven't had an easy life and when they meet in Rum Cay for Maggie and Phillip's wedding neither are expecting to fall in love but after a hurricane traps them together something inside them changes.

While they both return to their lives before Rum Cay neither are quite the same. Neither can forget each other, no matter how hard they try.

This is a story of heartbreak, pain and a whole lotta love. There are twists and turns that you don't see coming and I loved every page.

I really hope to see more from these two authors because when they work together something magical is created.

If you haven't figured it out already this is the second Game of Hearts novel. I think you can still enjoy this one without reading the first one but you do get a lot of backstory in the first one, which is called Love Always,. Also, that one is AMAZING and I love it so you should just go ahead and read that one too :)

Runaway Heart is Hannah and Ed's story. Hannah is Maggie's best friend and Ed is Phillip's best friend and former roommate. They end up meeting each other for the first time at Maggie and Phillips wedding in Rum Cay. I liked that their story felt completely different from Maggie and Phillip's right from the start. It was definitely not the same story told with different people. I was super excited to get to know Ed more...sexy, sweet, romantic guy with an English accent... what's not to love! And Hannah is full of spunk and strength, she's a very lovable character. Hannah and Ed's weekend in Rum Cay is hot and steamy! It's also supposed to be a one time thing but clearly they can't forget about each other.

As the story unfolds we learn more about our lovely couple and realize that they each have some difficult things to overcome from their past. I really enjoyed the fact that the authors gave their characters real problems and issues to overcome, it wasn't just a fantasy love story where everything works out. There are issues of abuse dealt with in the story but I feel like they were dealt with respectfully and added to the story. These characters became real people with real problems and as a reader it just made me fall in love with them even more!

Once again Sonya Loveday and Candace Knoebel have written a magical love story. I dare you to read the first page and not be drawn in by the beautiful writing. I will be reading anything these authors write and am seriously hoping for another Game of Hearts novel...and soon!

This is my first time reading anything from authors Sonya Loveday & Candace Knoebel. If Runaway Heart is any indication, I am ready to one-click their next book.

Runaway Heart is a unique book in that the heroine Hannah has a bad ass job — she is part of a roller derby team. We get an inside of view of the inter workings of her team, the chemistry and the pure camaraderie — the love the team has for Hannah. Whether she knows it or not, they are her chosen family.

I loved the humor of this book, it is equal parts sweet and bawdy. Honestly, it is what pulled me with the first few pages. This book will make you laugh, but also break your heart and put it back together.

Hannah and Ed are the heart of this this story, how they meet and the flow of their relationship will melt your heart. They are simply adorable together, but because of past heartbreaks, both guard their hearts like guards manning a Brink’s truck. How this all plays out is, I think a credit to the storytelling of the authors.

Hannah is amazing. Things in her life have not always been easy, but she is strength personified in most facets of her life, except when it comes to believing that she deserves love and happiness. The reasons why are heartbreaking and so many times, I wanted to be able to climb through my screen to not only hug her, but tell her that to listen to the people who truly care about her.

Ed. Ed is British. That is all you need to know — just kidding. Ed is keenly observant and more attuned to Hannah than she could ever imagine. So many times he made me swoon with just the thoughts in his head.

Ed and Hannah felt magical. Their chemistry burns white hot. They were connected in so many ways For a reader, I think they are also very accessible — they could be your neighbor or friend, people you might hang out with on the weekend.

Such a wonderful book and so worthy of your time. Add it to your TBR and carve out time over the holidays to read it!!

Enjoy!

It’s official. Ed is my new favorite book boyfriend.

This story was romantic, with just enough steam to satisfy my naughty side. The chemistry between Ed and Hannah was obvious from the first second they laid eyes on each other and it only intensified from there on out. I loved the flirtatiousness that sparked every time they interacted, and I was glad to see both their walls come crumbling down as their relationship developed. It took a bit longer than expected, but I had hope that they’d find their way to happiness eventually.

This book wasn’t all hearts and roses. The darkness that haunted Hannah seeped into her life and polluted her desires, making it difficult for her to see how sweet and amazing Ed was, he on the other hand wasn’t quite as closed off, but he still shielded his heart because of the hurt he’d dealt with in the past. This made for plenty of hurdles, and it was just a matter of whether they were prepared to jump over them or not.

I loved that the authors highlighted a very serious and tragic matter through this story. I hope that anyone who has had to endure what some of these characters lived through will find the courage to remove themselves from the situation, and to know and believe in their self-worth.

A story about love, courage, healing and acceptance, this book was filled with hope and lifted my spirits. If you enjoyed Love, Always, you will fall head over heels for Runaway Heart.

This is the second book in the Game of Hearts series from Sonya Loveday and Candace Knoebel and it is another winner for them both.

Ed and Hannah meet up during Maggie and Philip's (from Love Always - book 1). Ed is Englishman and funny as you can get and Hannah is sober as her childhood was dealing with watching physical and mental abuse occur to her mother.

This book has a serious side, but yet a humorous side. For example when both get stuck in a hammock and they try to free themselves from each other.

Hannah must deal with her demons in order to move forward and face the truth of how abuse can damage a person. To watch her grow from being afraid to being a strong confident person was one of the highlights in this book.

Ed, on the other hand had broken love, so trust was an issue from him. First his protective side comes out to help Hannah deal with a Hurricane, but quickly turns to passionate and undying love.

Can Hannah deal with her demons regarding relationships and move forward or are they just ships in the night?

Even know they is abuse issues brought up in this book, it is dealt tastefully and informatively. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who reads romance and how to deal with real life issues.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I was intrigued by a book about roller derby, it sounded different. However, since I know absolutely nothing about roller derby, I found parts of it were hard to visualize. That made it more difficult for me to really experience the story. Eventually, the story of Hannah and Ed took over and I was able to really enjoy the book. It just took a little for it to happen for me.

I did not read the first one in the series, Love Always. Honestly, I didn't even realize that it was apart of a series until I went to add this review. Now that I know, I can see how the stories are tied but I don't feel like reading the first book would have much impact on my enjoying this book. I believe it can be read as a stand alone.

This is one of those books that shows that no matter who you are, there is someone out there for you. To me, Ed is the perfect man for Hannah. He has the empathy needed to be patient with her and a sweetie to boot. I enjoyed watching their story develop and their love grow. I hope to see them again in upcoming books in the series.

A romantic novel of love conquers all. Hannah has to face the demons of her life in order to move on and find the happiness she craves.

This novel brings to the forefront the topic to domestic violence and how many it affects. It was eye opening and hopefully readers experiencing something similar can relate to this and get the help they need like Hannah.

I only gave this story 4 stars because it came a bit predictable. I knew what would happen from
About halfway through. I'm not one to love stories where I can predict the ending. However, as weird as it sounds, I almost liked that I knew what was going to happen, especially with Hannah's mom. I liked that they realized they needed help and began the healing process. This, in my eyes, makes up for the predictability of the story.

I love when Candace and Sonya collaborate on stories. I don't know how they make it so seamless but they do.

I really enjoyed this story as it unfolded. The main character, Hannah, grew up under less than ideal conditions, but has been able to overcome her situation and create a life that she wants. It just might not be enough because she's been keeping any chance of love at arm's length. Ed had his heart broken, but he has remained his charming self and is open to the possibility of love. He slowly but surely breaks down the barriers Hannah has erected and helps her to see the life she could choose for herself. This is a wonderful HEA about confronting your past and overcoming a situation to move on in love with hope, faith, and courage.

The only bad thing I could say about this novel is that it was not a quick read for me. The dialogue when written out actually slowed my progress significantly.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

After reading Maggie & Phillip story in Love, Always. I was super excited to read Runaway Heart!

Hannah Adamson (Maggie's BFF) and Ed Alcott (Phillip's Best Friend) are thrown together for a weekend to remember.

Not only is Hannah dealing with her demons from her past, but she must figure everything out before she can move forward in life.

Ed is a very patient & sweet guy. But most of all that English charm. Love it! After recently suffering from a broken heart in is previous relationship, that's just something not on Ed's radar.

The romance in this story is breathtaking.

This book deals with abuse. And no one should have to go through that. Getting a message across like that is rough.

Cant wait for more amazing books from these two!! <3 <3

I have to say when I got this book I thought intriguing. At first I was a little confused about the whole roller derby thing but once Sonya Loveday continued it totally made sense. I loved that Hannah is a woman who because of circumstances had to build a strong backbone hence the roller derby skating. She may be tough and yes a little weary towards men but she has her reasons. Now Ed is perfect for her in a way that they share a connection only they can understand. Sonya Loveday shows us that no matter how much we hear we are not meant for love it takes a strong man to show anything is possible. Sonya Loveday not only brings love to life but shows us that we can overcome anything and love can make us stronger than ever. Loved it.

Hannah hasn’t had the best life and she’s at a real crossroads situation. She meets an English gentleman at her best friends wedding and they hit it off. This book was quite touching and it definitely pulled on the heartstrings a lot. Although, the beginning of this book was mostly about Roller Derby and I know nothing about the game so it was really hard for me to visualize a lot of the story. But thankfully Ed and Hannah’s story took over quite soon. I enjoyed the story but it just didn’t call to me like some other novels. This is the first time that I’ve read anything from both authors.
