Great mix of history and hauntings!

I very much enjoyed this book! The history was interesting and educational. The discussions about the different hauntings was interesting and entertaining. I'm very much into different hauntings all around the world and especially the U.S.. My favorite era is during the Revolutionary War up to and including the Civil War and the early 1900's. I've enjoyed reading this series of books and there are still many more of them left to read!!!

A decent read for anyone who enjoys Ozark history and ghost stories. A few of the ghost stories are different versions of stories and legends found throughout the United States. The author did tend to repeat himself in a few chapters which was a bit annoying at times.

If you like a lot of history sprinkled with a little bit of paranormal, then this is the book for you! I mean no disrespect to the author and all his in depth research, but I found the book very boring. I was hoping for more stories from people who experienced hauntings and paranormal activities Within the graveyards. While I appreciated some of the back stories that were very interesting, it was too much history, especially that of the Civil War, for my liking. If the author or anyone close to him is reading this(, kudos to all the research on the history of the places such as the towns and graveyards.

An interesting and short read. Helped me find graveyards to tour right around our area here where we live. I love intriguing books about all things mysterious and scary.. They’re my favorite genre. The book gave good descriptions of the cemeteries and where they’re located. Gave a sense of creepiness too, always fun.

However, I did find it curious where some of the stories bled through from. Maybe down the years they just compiled together through rumors, as most creepy, ghost stories form from. Either way, I enjoyed it.

I'd rather read a version of this written by the semi-literate Ghost Hunters bro. No chills! Just a lot of references to ominous mist in cemeteries and weird vibes around graves.

Cada cierto tiempo me pongo a leer un libro de The History Press sobre algún lugar embrujado de Estados Unidos. Desde el año pasado comencé éste y me costó trabajo porque se centra más en historia local y sólo de pasada menciona a los fantasmas que habitan los cementerios de esa región. No lo recomiendo.

If you believe or just like paranormal stories or enjoy local folklore. This book is a good one to read. The author has actually done his homework with visiting locals and getting stories they have heard over the years, he's looked people up in census to makes sure they actually did live here. Each story is about 1-3 pages long and he tried to include photos of people when it was avalible to him or he would take a photo of the cemetery he and-or his team took when they went to visit the cemeteries. He gives history of the cemetery, the land and or the time frame of when the 'ghost' lived. You can believe in what he has been told or just enjoy the history behind the places he writes about. Really nice book of places in MO and AR

A interesting books if you like historical info mixed with your paranormal. If you aren't a great fan of paranormal than you will still like this book because there is more history than ghost here. It was an easy read and one of those books you have in your collection but you aren't likely to refer back to often. I will say though it was very interesting to see how close I was to some of these haunted places and i might take some of the suggestions and drive into some of these places to see for myself.

Not a whole lot here. There's a lot of interesting information, but a lot more to do with history rather than with hauntings or paranormal activity. Not bad, just not an accurate title.
