Ivey, the loving outgoing church girl, tries to pull her sister Toni out of a world of destruction and deceit that could only end in tragedy. While Romero, a hustler with a soft spot for Toni, tries to protect her not knowing the only person she needs protection from is herself. Secrets of guile and betrayal leave friendships in ruin, while new bonds are forged in an effort to overcome the residual damage of lies and dishonesty. This is a riveting tale of two sisters that live and play on completely different sides of the tracks and one woman's metamorphosis from Ratchet to Righteous.

This was just an okay read for me. You don't necessarily have to read part one in order to know what's going on. In the beginning one might think that the characters don't have any connection to each other but they do. This story had some interesting and complex characters. The crazy ones always make a story interesting. In this case Gwen and Quitta are in need of help. The mother/daughter connection or lack tthere of maybe difficult to read or may resonate with some. To really get Peaches' story you'll have to read part 1. Red was a good young lady with a lot of responsibility. Toni's story of change was pretty interesting as well. Overall it was an ok read but could've used more detail and possibly could've been a stand alone.
This was on okay read for me. The were so many characters in the mix, it was almost hard to keep up. Especially with all the secrets being told and hidden. These characters were very busy! Red was probably my favorite. Her sister Peaches was a wild girl. Toni definitely lived by her own rules. I did like Brandon's character and Romero kind of grew on me. Besides the few errors, the book was just okay. Part 2 should be interesting.
This book was something else and I mean that in a good way. I liked how the author let her characters grow and mature in their own way. She just remind us of how important it is to believe in God and the understanding of forgiveness, acceptance and learning your self worth. Also she brings to light how selfish some people can be to the point they start to neglect their own children. This was not just a good read but it was enlightening as well.
I truly underestimated this book. It had me feeling frisky one minute then enjoy the holy word the next. I hope Toni will find her peace but you know the old saying be careful of how you treat people because that chick Karma is waiting. I felt bad for Red, Peaches was slimy as hell. I can't wait for part 2.
Good read! I wanting Toni & Romero together but I guess they couldn't admit their love for each other. Ivey & Brandon saved their self for marriage such that was good. Coco & peaches got what they deserve. Jojo wasn't loyal at all.
Very good book. This book will never cease to surprise you. These characters were interesting and colorful. There are many lessons learned from this story.
Reading the follow up to part 1 I am glad that I did. I truly enjoyed that although it started off as straight hood situations it showed you growth and real love.
