Detective Chief Inspector Danny Radford returns in this gripping crime novella
When DCI Radford acts in a way that seriously jeopardises an ongoing investigation, fellow officers’ suspicions that he has gone native seem to be confirmed. But when they finally track down who was behind a brutal beating of a priest, not everything turns out to be as it seems.
Enjoyable tale featuring DCI Radford & Sergeant Gaines. Radford seems to be turning out to be similar to his predecessor and on the take from the criminal fraternity in Leyton. A Priest is beaten up and during the investigation Radford seems to disrupt the case by punching one of the suspects unchallenged. The story seems to be about a “bent” copper so the twist towards the end pulls together the background and proves Radford is as straight as they come.
This book was fascinating and had a good plot. A word of warning, though. It contains a lot of salty language. While I enjoyed reading the book for the most part, I , as an avid Charles Dickens fan, was offended by the curse word applied to a Dickens novel. Otherwise, I highly recommend this novel to other readers of police procedurals.
I have to say that I was less delighted than I might have been. Why do good writers detract from their stories by using quite in no
I have to say that this very exciting story was severely marred for me by the inclusion of bad language which does not add to the plot but detracts from it.
A good read, but not a long one. The plot is twisted, plenty of red herrings, but I did find it hard to remember which character was which. Several of their names started with the same letter which my brain didn't like too much. I'll certainly be looking for more from this author.
Leyton police are just recovering from the latest corruption charges when the behaviour of the new DCI Danny Radford becomes suspicious. His deputy DS Michael Gaines wonders. An enjoyable crime story though not too keen on the swearing.
An entertaining police procedural with an unexpected twist. DCI Radford's colleagues think he is going off the rails, but there is more to his odd antics than meets the eye. Following on from The Numbers Game this explores similar themes of political corruption in local government that ordinary people get caught up in.
Another fine police procedural featuring DCI Radford. Mr. Stanley has created an engaging cast of characters and tasked them with some complex cases. As in the previous novel about Radford, the ending comes with twist - unexpected but believable. More of DCI Radford, please, Mr. Stanley!
Not what you expected. Bad guys got what they deserved. Quick read only pertinent words, descriptions. Entertaining. But hard to keep track of the characters.
