Tiger Tails #1

Fast And The Furriest

Rate this book
Ladies, like a tiger’s stripes? Tug his tail and keep him forever!

The wolves came first. Followed by the bears. Finally, lions decided to play in the spotlight, but the tigers have held off. Let everyone else get stared at. Ares was happy on his mountain with his pride while humans thought they knew all about the different shifter species.

Their secret was safe…until her. One reporter took tigers from the shadows and thrust them into the limelight by releasing a picture of a tiger shifting. Specifically — him. (What could he say? A little moonlight, a little fur…)

Now he has a town of stripe-hunting women looking for a tiger’s tail to pull and… a full moon on the horizon.

Can he keep his tigers from being mated against their will? Better yet, can he forgive the one woman responsible for outing his species? Ares isn’t sure, but he’s willing to give it a shot.

The Bottom Line
I liked it. The setup for the mythology was different. I would have liked this even better had we seen the first two weeks of the H/h's relationship. The first half is stronger than the second half, but I'm still in to explore more of this 'verse.

“The serpent, the king, the tiger, the stinging wasp, the small child, the dog owned by other people, and the fool: these seven ought not to be awakened from sleep.” - Chanakya

Oh, Celia keeps on keeping on . . . and what she keeps on with is writing funny, insightful, and suspenseful and, yes, totally hot books that cheer me up and engross me. Mostly quick reads, always with an undercurrent of the human condition, Celia is, in a word, AWESOME!
So, here is the thing. She has a new series, Tiger Tails, that reaches, and in some ways exceeds, her other super-fun series. Ahhh… better than a cup of cocoa on a cold day. Well, even better when you can read her tales while drinking a cup of cocoa, just sayin’.

Now, it’s a tale of a tail – or rather, a bunch of tails. Being literally shoved out of the closet is never pleasant. And for the tigers, well, they never wanted to come out of the “Shifter Closet” at all, no matter what the lions and wolves and bears chose to do. But, things being as they always are, secrets don’t last. And this whopper is going to cause a world of hurt for the tigers. Because, well, grabbing a tiger by the tail has a whole other meaning in Celia’s newest world.

This new series by Celia is a blast. So far centering around the “coming-out-of-the-closet” of the tigers in her much-like-ours world, the first story, Fast and the Furriest introduces us to the tiger pride, and its leader, Ares. Poor Ares. Even though the lions and wolves and bears (Oh, My!) are “Out” to the public, the tigers just want to be left alone. And they stay hidden – that is, until they are rudely shoved out of the closet by an article, complete with photos, in a nasty little bit of yellow journalism. An article printed under the byline of the woman Ares thought was his. Oops. Of course, it doesn’t help that the article points out that, if you can pull a tiger’s tail, he (or she) belongs to you forever. Ah, Hell, thou hast no idiocy such as that of a human shifter stalker. “Uh, hey, lady? Really not cool to terrorize the poor pregnant tiger lady up a tree trying to pull her tail. Uh, yeah, I said PREGNANT tiger LADY.” Oy. Needless to say, it was a zoo. And it doesn’t help that DoPE (Department of Paraphysical Entities) is trying to capture high ranking female shifters in order to force them to mate with humans, so that said humans puppet masters can take over the shifter groups and control them (read: Turn them into war machines). Again, Oy.

As with all of Celia’s work, there is both a large dose of humor and an even larger dose of pathos to be had in her stories. Humans in this world pretty much suck – not surprising – and there are deeper stories here of the ‘human’ condition. But be prepared to burst out laughing in public as well, if you are brave enough to read on the train ;-)

I received Fast and the Furriest from Celia in exchange for a realistic review. I posted this review in a couple of spots, but I apparently pulled a Senior Moment and wandered away while posting, hence a late post to my site and multiple others. Oops! I still Love Ya, Celia!!!

Fast and the Furriest first book in the Tiger Tails was as good as the other stories that Celia Kyle wrote yet I found myself wanting more.

The story is simple. Tiger meets the girl - girl betrays the tiger and they separate - girl comes back - HEA.
Well most of the plot that I am mentioning was not written.

The story starts when Zoe comes back to Ares after exposing him and his people as tiger shifter. She felt compelled to come back but she didn't know why.
Ares was the leader of all tigers on the continent and even though she betrayed him he missed Zoe.

I couldn't fully get engaged in the story. I like the funny and light way in which Celia Kyle penned the story but somehow because I didn't get the begining of the couple I couldn't relate to them.
Then Zoe's transformation to a tigress was a bit more exaggerated and not believable. I know anything is possible in the realm of imagination but they way it's presented might influence me.

For me, the story was predictable, no plot, no turning point or action in the story, same erotic scenes. As a friend of mine would say: l..k, s..k, f..k...
But I really liked Ares...

I loved this story. We meet Zoe at the point where she has already been dating Ares for a couple of weeks and while he thought she might be his mate, she accidentally betrays him by outing him and his entire species to the world. But even broken up, Zoe can’t fight the urge she has to see Ares, and turns out he is finding it hard to stay mad at her. This was a lot of fun and I breezed through this story. Zoe’s friend Ronnie helped to keep things from turning too dark and I loved her book which comes next. I hope there is more coming from this world and look forward to reading more of Celia’s work in the future. A must read for paranormal romance fans.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I don't get some of the other reviewers point of view. I find this refreshing that we get just glimpses of their first meeting and the first two weeks. For me, seeing a couple realize that there was a mistake and correcting it...that's a different approach than most books and I like it. Though Ms Kyle's books are all good.

I like how he slowly realizes that this is his Mate and then when he sees how his pride reacts to her...WOW! I love how she challenged all the human's that were trying to catch a tiger's tail. LOL

If paranormal and shifter stories appeal then you will be beside yourself to discover these somewhat unusual tiger shifters. I'd like to say they are human / tiger pairings but no these are most definitely animals that can turn into men and women. The biggest and baddest is Ares but his secret is well and truly out! These wily felines had kept their existence hidden from humans but unfortunately Ares was caught on camera by the woman he thought was his! Zoe may have been the one to out the tigers but Ares is not about to let his people get forced into anything they don't want. Trouble is there's a full moon looming and a whole host of visitors in town and just to add to Ares headache Zoe is back and she's just not going quietly!
This isn't exactly second chance love or anything as the couple hadn't really had chance to get over each other but they most certainly do have issues! Did Zoe betray Ares and if so why? Then there's the fact that there's something really different about Zoe that all the shifters are starting to notice. I cannot say too much here but it's very clear that this couple are deeply connected but boy does life keep getting in the way. I really liked the unique slant on "catch a tiger by the tail" which sounded hilarious and then when I thought about it quickly understood there could've truly disastrous consequences.
This author excels at quick reads that are humorous and hot. Happily this is longer than some stories I've read by her and it connects with other books. Ares is an alpha who really wants to protect his tigers and it was fun seeing him tied up in knots by those close to him. Zoe turns out to be totally bad ass and I could easily understand why Ares and his tiger would fall for her. There's subplot too with Ares sister left in turmoil , not to mention a certain shifter named Hawke who regularly pops up. Best of all though is supporting character Ronnie ! She's loud, she's brash and she's downright absolutely a hoot but is anyone brave enough to take her on? My only slight niggle is we are dropped into the story so it took me a minute to get onboard . Yes I enjoyed this book and will happily read more.

I always expect great things from Celia Kyle and this book delivered. There's just something about the way she words things that make them hilarious. As well as being funny, the book is well-written, steamy, and just thoroughly enjoyable. I'll be starting book 2 later. I loved Ares and Zoe. I particularly loved Zoe's relationship with Ronnie.

Overall, another fabulous book.

Pull my tail baby.

A slightly funny and sexy romp with tiger shifters. I liked the drama of the Tigers being outed and how the mating and changes happen to the humans that mate tigers works.

I'll be reading the rest of the series, even if this wasn't my fave from Celia Kyle.

I read this story as a part of the Roar, Growl & Kiss bundle. Having read other stories by thus author, I didn't hesitate to want to read this one. Ms. Kyle always knows how to infuse humor in her stories, while at the same time dealing with some serious issues. Zoe, unbeknownst to her, oust the tiger shifters. The works know about Wolves, bears and others, but not tigers. What she also learns is that Ares, the national alpha tiger, is her mate. This first installment in this series sets us up to read about how the shifters will now deal with the human worlds knowledge of them all and attempt to control them.

eenie meenie miney…….

Oh wow! The author took me through the emotional wringer with this story. From the first page emotions were high, and they never really settled until the very end. I love the characters, they were very detailed and took on a life of their own, getting me caught up in the story and making me invested into what happened to them. And anxious to see what their future held. I enjoyed the danger the author wrote into the story, and I am looking forward to the next book and seeing what happens. Hopefully it will be another wonderful HEA.

Alright

The story brings a bit of originality on how they become mates (no, not sex you pervs :p) and even though being different is nice, I didn't find it appealing. Just not able to take it seriously. :/ I'm usually able to become drawn to one char or another, this one though I never felt that pull. If you enjoy simple romance reads that are not super long, then this is for you. :D

I truly enjoyed this first of 2 books in Tiger Tails!! There are so many secondary characters that deserve their own stories, I can't believe there will only be 2 in the series!! Claire, Hawke, Veronica, Braden.........I'd read a book on every one of 'em!!!!! Loved it!!!!!!!

Whose your Mate?

Veronica met a man who literally knocked her socks off, and made her forget why she needed some time off. Ares felt just a little interested in the laughing and smart mouthed woman he was meeting for the first in ages.

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Zoe human and a reporter, her best friend, Ronnie is a werewolf. Zoe was in need of a break from the city, she has always loved the calm and openness of the outdoors than the cramped, sometimes loud city. During her time away Zoe meets Ares, who happens to be a tiger shifter, and the National Alpha of all tiger prides. They spend two weeks together becoming better acquainted, intimate, but then Zoe witnesses Ares shifting. She takes pictures on her cell asking Ronnie about it, b/c Zoe had no clue about this type of shifter and thinks her friend has lied to her. What Zoe didn't know what was that her boss could check everything done on her phone since it was company issued. So her boss takes the photos and writes a story outing the existence of tiger shifters. It turns into a huge circus with women prowling the woods to find a tiger's tail to pull and become mated.
At the same time, Zoe is lured back to the woods b/c something is happening to her. Her skin is itching, she is anxious, and in need of Ares. A change is occurring within Zoe as a result of having unprotected sex with Ares multiple times and the full moon is approaching. Ares is told that Zoe is back in town, his Tiger wants to go to her but, he has many things on his plate. The news that his kind has been outed, the Pride PR agent, his perturbing younger sister, humans out in the woods, the full moon, and ensuring his people's safety.
When Ares is able to get to Zoe, he notices the change coming over her and couldn't be happier. On their way to the pride den, they run across at least three women with tail tugging on their minds but Zoe puts them in their place. The majority of the tigers immediately accept Zoe, except one. The focuses switches mating, completing the mating-but they always get interrupted. Ronnie shows up and helps to deal with the outing and smooth the transition- there is a press release, a meeting with the right, official people. Ares wasn't sure if it was the right move, but it was necessary. He and Zoe finally steal time to complete another part of their mating. But are again interrupted when the so called official they met with sends men in to target his sister, Claire to pull her tail. It then turns into a battle to death with Ares and Zoe killing those men, but they could not prevent Claire from being mated against her will. Turns out the official wants to control the shifters rather than work with them. So, Ares, Zoe, Ronnie, her parents, the Lion Alpha and bears must team up to appeal their cause as people first and animals second. The final battle is between Ares and Zoe- their own tail tugging, butt biting battle. This was a great book, couldn't stop laughing at Ronnie and Zoe and their odd arguments.

he world knows about were-wolfs, were-bears and were-lions, but thanks to reporter Zoe Reynolds, now they know about were-tigers. Newspapers blaze with the headline, “Ladies, like a tiger’s stripes? Tug his tail and keep him forever!”

Zoe lived and worked in the city and got away to the country for a couple of weeks. She needed it. What she didn’t expect is to find a hunk and start a hot relationship with him. At the end of the two weeks she watches as he shifts and captured it on her phone. Her BFF just so happens to be a were-wolf and was texting back and forth with her about it because she thought her friend had been holding out about other weres. What Zoe didn’t realize was that the phone she was using is a work phone and her bosses could access, and have permission to use, to any and all content on said phone. They wrote a story about what she was texting and the video and put her name to it. So yes, now the world knows about were-tigers.

National Alpha Ares, the hot and heavy hunk in this story, has to deal with what he feels is a total betrayal by a woman he thought was his mate. There were three steps to mating and they had done two of them when she betrayed not only him, but his whole race. Now his town was over-run with women, and a few men, wanting to ‘pull a tiger’s tail.’

This is a bit longer book than her usual, but it is all go. It goes into more detail on how things happened and how it gets straightened out. If you are in the mood for a good book, but don’t have five or more hours to read it, here is a good book that is longer than a short 45 page book. I like that you get to know more in this book and as you learn more about some of the characters, you want to know more. I want to know about how Zoe’s friend, Ronnie, gets out of her promise to her father about finding a mate.

Celia Kyle has a great sense of humor. I burst out laughing at a line near the end where Ronnie’s mom tells her, “And I don’t care if you peed on her when she was a baby. That doesn’t make Zoe yours. It makes you a child who needed better potty training.”

I love Celia’s style of writing and I have loved every one of her books, regardless of how long or short it is. I will keep following every one of her stories and series.

I sorta read this out of order. I read You're Kitten Me first only because it was an ARC and I hadn't gotten to this book yet. Now that I have....a lot makes sense! I know right? LOL. Normally, I like to be witnessing heroes and heroines getting together and meeting and having that connection and sexy times. However, this book was different. They already met and had sexy times and although I missed that...I dealt with it and moved on. :)

Zoe unknowingly outed her man's tiger pride. They wanted to remain a secret for as long as they could. However, he blamed her without knowing all the facts. He refused to listen to her and told her never to come back and he didnt wanna see her again. However, after just a few days she couldnt handle it anymore and sought him out. She was starting to feel weird and only felt better with him. She started having alpha fem powers and since he couldnt stay away either they reunited after all hell broke loose and all these women and others came to their town trying to score a tiger mate by pullin some tails! At least this time he listened to her and got the whole story...he knew to be the truth. Things happened badly after that and after they mated and he bit her she shifted to help defend her people. Awesome right? Yeah but it was bad for Ares' sister Claire...she was mated against her will during the attack. That sucked and was badddd. Poor wittle kitty! However, I'm wonderin why she was outside when he told her to stay indoors? Claire is a bit of a brat and probably just wanted to run and got caught obviously. OMG...who didnt love Ronnie? Loved her...it was priceless...PRICELESS when Zoe rolled up a newspaper and hit her with it and said bad dog! I laughed really hard at that. Celia's humor just does me in every time! No shizzle! Love her work and this was awesome. I know not everyone loves it but hey whatevs. I enjoyed it and look forward to more about these tigers, lions, and wolves. On my last note I so enjoyed Zoe and Ares' characters. They were very well written and were fun to read. I'm not a HUGE fan of Darcy's at this point..she seemed against a lot of things. I dont remember a lot from book 2 but I'll be reading it again for a re-fresher.

" Grab a Tiger by their tail"
Oh I loved this book! Its story line is amazing!. The characters are charming and incredible!. You will fall in love with these Tiger shifters!. This story is Sweet, funny and suspenseful!.
Zoe is a reporter which gets her into some trouble. Her best friend Ronnie who is a wolf shifter tells her about these little towns in the mountains so Zoe takes a couple weeks off to rest and relax. She ends up in Wilder where she meets a sexy Man named Ares. Right before her two weeks is up she happens to see Ares shift into his Tiger form, and takes some pictures with her phone. She sends them to her Bff Ronnie only she did not know her Editor monitors her phone, and took her texts and pictures to run a story on the Tigers. The tigers had not come out yet like other shifters. One thing in their texts that grabbed the Editor is if you catch a Tiger by its tail the shifter will be your mate forever. So that was the head line for the Article. When Zoe got back home she did not know what her Editor did till she sees the paper. She knows this will cause problems for Ares and his group this up sets her as she fell in love with him!. Zoe heads back to Wilder and is shocked when she sees all the Humans mostly women who have invaded the town!. Zoe just hopes Ares does not hate her now ,and will believe it was not her fault that her Editor did this. Oh there was one thing Ares did not tell Zoe is when they had sex it started a bonding between them to make her his mate!. Wow there are lots of surprises and suspense in this humorous sweet Romance! This is a must read 5-star plus plus book!

I loved this story!!! Ares and Zoe are the two main characters and they are awesome. They hooked me from the beginning and I couldn't wait to find out what was going on. "Zoe" told the world that Tigers exist and how to mate them, without their consent, and so Zoe and Ares had a falling out when the story hit. Ares is trying to figure out how to help his people the best and deal with coming out as a species and keep his Tigers safe from forced mating. Zoe is dealing with the reprecussions as well since she did not actually write the article or want it to get out. After a couple of days she is back in town to try and explain to Ares what actually happened. Ares is trying to hold onto his anger because that's how he was dealing with the situation regarding Zoe when it all started but once he sees and hears her, anger is no longer the top emotion and he no longer wants to deny that she is his mate. Already Zoe is showing alpha fem tendencies even though they have not fully mated which is shocking for Ares but very much needed by the Pride. Zoe's presence helps to calm and connect with the Tigers as they try and stay safe from the tail pulling humans that have invaded.
The sex is explicit and very hot between the two characters but their emotions are fully engaged. I loved the way that this story was set up and the way that it flowed. The story line was great and had me captivated and just wanting to know more. I am not ready to leave this world that Celia Kyle has created and can't wait for more of the Pride's stories, especially Claire's! All of the characters were great and I love the connections that I can just imagine coming. This is a great start to a great series!!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we meet Ares and Zoe. In this book we find the question what would you do with the woman who betrayed not only you but your entire pride? Ares has to answer this question when the woman he believes may actually be his mate reveals not only his secret but secrets of the entire pride. Ares isn't sure he can forgive her but isn't sure he can stay away from her. His tiger calls out for her everyday but he knows he has more pressing issues to deal with. Since they were last together pictures taken by Zoe were put to press with a headline that could cause harm to his entire pride.

Zoe doesn't understand what is happening to her but she knows that somehow she has to get back to Ares. There is this ever driving need to be near him and even if he wants to kill her she has to explain herself to him. Zoe knows the entire pride blames her for humans knowing about them but if she could just explain she knows she could clear this all up. However before she gets a chance all hell breaks loose. Can she figure out what is happening and be able to help the pride before she looses everything?

This book is amazing it is about love and forgiveness even when there seems like there is none to be given. This book will have you searching for the all consuming love all over again. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book marks a departure from my shorter, quicker reads by this author and dove right into a more fully developed story. In this story we get tigers, reporters, and drama (oh my!).

We dive right into the drama that is happening because a reporter made a silly mistake. Ares fell into some extreme lust (and love?) right away and the two had just finished spending a normal week together. Ares, unfortunately, shifted in the wrong place at the wrong time and she stumbled in, catching the thing on her phone by accident. A work phone… that her editor monitors and jumps on to make an exciting reveal for the “closeted” tiger shifters. One thing leads to another, and the next time she goes to look for Ares to explain (and solve the mystery draw she feels towards him), there are women coming out of the woodwork to find the hottie tiger shifters.

Turns out, Ares is the leader of the tigers and is in a world of trouble now that one sexy reporter “outed” them all. It still doesn’t stop him from wanting her, though. These two are HOT together and even the drama didn’t stop me from rooting for these two lovebirds (or tigers, or whatever). While their HEA isn’t an easy one, it was still fun to go along for the ride. We also got introduced to some super fun characters that I can’t wait to see more from in future installments of the series.

Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It's always a good day when I receive the email that a new CK ARC is available, it's an even better day when it turns out that it's for a longer story than her usual quickie reads.
Ares and Zoe are a great couple and it's a story filled with the usual humor and hot sex. We're inundated with wolf shifter romances and I like seeing tigers getting their due. The only reason this wasn't a 4 star read for me was that I didn't like that we got dropped into the story mid-romance. I kind of missed being a part of their first meeting and connection, and it was hard at first to jump on he Zoe and Ares bandwagon when the book starts off with betrayal. Also for some inexplainable reason I hated that the Alpha female is referred to as the "Alpha fem"...I don't know if it's because every time I saw the term I thought of "fem dom" but it doesn't work for me. *shrug* Minor pet peeves all things considered. I read the book cover to cover in one sitting so obviously it wasn't that distracting. So if you're in the mood for some Tiger love check this out. I also developed a lot of interest in some of the secondary characters and I'm beyond pleased that Ronnie's book is up next. As the wolf best friend of Zoe, and woman who brought most of the humor I can't wait to see how a mating goes down between her and a tiger :)

A quick afternoon read that doesn't disappoint. I like the story the author has given us. I like that the main characters had a previous meet and greet which ended abruptly by outside forces which in tail (haha) adds an honest conflict. The characters were likeable and somewhat funny. Ronnie is a riot.

Description from back of book,Story:

Hope you enjoy it,too.
And as always……Happy Reading!!:)

4 half stars. Cannot wait for next book in series.
Another great series starter from one of my favourite authors. Not quite as funny as some of her other series (except for the butt biting sentence) but still I cannot wait to see where this is going and who will be next to be written about.
We have a mix of Tigers, Bears, Wolves and Lions. What a great choice to be able to choose from.
I loved the feistiness of Zoe and how badass she became as her tiger came out, her interaction with her best friend Veronica (Ronnie) was pure Celia Kyle.
Ares seemed to be a great Alpha and he was so loving to Zoe.
Usual hot, well written bedroom scenes we always get from this author.
I really liked the sub plot developing and want to know
1 - What will happen to Claire, I was so upset for her.
2 - Is her real mate Hawke? If so what will happen to the ratbag that tugged her tail?
3 - Will there be someone brave enough to take on Ronnie? Just read next book will be Ronnie and Braden. That will be a fun read.
So many questions to be answered.
Just a bit of a mix up during the mating scene with his and hers not used in the correct place.
Will be pre-ordering the next book in this series.
This is my honest review of this book.
