I was on the promotional blog tour for this book, I was kindly sent free digital copies of both Dreamer and the first book in this series Traveler in exchange for an honest review!

Dreamer was an adventurous follow-on from the first book Traveler, Jessa our main character is still struggling with an event that occurred right at the end of the previous novel. She, however, must deal with love and revenge from a figure that she thought had left her life for good. The various worlds that take place within the storyline made for a good visual read. Dialogue was strong with the pacing mostly stable throughout, leaving for interesting moments such as Jessa and one of the other characters Ben together. Personally, it was the covers that drew me into picking up both copies of Traveler and Dreamer, bright and simply beautiful to look at! A nice conclusion which I am definitely curious to see if there are any follow-ups to Dreamer which I hope there is (crosses fingers and toes) XD

UPDATED THOUGHTS: There was constant switching between different time periods again, this was happening very frequently and did cause some confusion. Struggled to connect to the characters at times, was left a little disappointed.

ARC read:
I'll do a real review closer to the release, but this was AMAZING. I was sad for a lot of it, though, because I kept thinking about Finn. I love Pirate Finn as much as the next Finn but I couldn't get past the idea that he's different. Overall, phenomenal!

THAT COVER IS EVERYTHING AND MORE. *grabby hands*

Literally this is probably my #1 anticipated for 2018. Neeeeeeed.

So, yeah, the first book won't even be out until next year, but I'm already so excited for book two!

I had really enjoyed the first book of this series, so I was pretty eager to get into this one.

I still liked Jessa and Ben and Finn. Danny might have been the best part of this one and I wish we could have gotten more of him in some capacity. He’s so aware in a different way and it was an avenue that would have been interesting to see.

Plot wise, there’s a lot of push and pull, but not from the “bad guy” of the story. Sadly, that seemed to take a backseat to Jessa’s love life. There are a few accidents and near miss situations, but even in those scenes, it somehow came back to the boys. The last 50 pages or so are sort of anti-climatic and even though I liked the final scenes, I definitely expected more.

Overall, it’s a clever idea and had characters I really liked. I can’t wait to see what this author does next.

**Huge thanks to Swoon Reads for providing the arc free of charge**

*Thoughts*

Dreamer, by author L.E. Delano, is the final installment in the author's Traveler duology. Dreamer picks up 6 weeks after the ending of Traveler. This is a series where 17-year old Jessa St. Clair is the protagonist. When we first met Jessa, she was a writer who wanted to go to college to become a journalist, and then travel for a living. Then she met a mysterious boy who rocked her world by telling her she was different than others. Jessa, you see, has the ability to travel to various multiverses via any clear item like a mirror, a glass, water, as long as she can see her reflection she can travel.

“You understand each other and the issues at stake in ways no one else could. That makes you a good team. And for what it’s worth—you can be a big help to him.”

That was just a mixture of emotions all throughout. But I give this sequel an exception when it comes to dramatic fights in a love triangle. It could go worse but actually ended up being a guilt-pleasure to my taste.

This is one of the most stressful yet beautiful sequels I have ever read. I forgot how much I loved this world (or worlds) and I enjoyed this adventure a lot.; By the end if felt like L E DeLano was just writing whatever came to her but I wasn't even mad. Yes it was a little messy but it was still so enjoyable. Five stars. I love this so much!

L.E. DeLano, esteemed author of novel TRAVELER, has released the new fast-paced sequel, DREAMER.

After the loss of someone close to her, and a struggle with her own life, Jessa has learned that magical parallel worlds aren’t just fun foods and wild new lifestyles. Now someone is after her, determined to take everything away from Jessa, including the new worlds she’s encountered. This threat combined with her heartbreak over her complicated relationship with her best friend Ben, means that nothing in life seems to make sense anymore. With the arrival of a vengeful version of someone in her past, and new secrets being uncovered by the day, Jessa’s destiny approaches faster than ever before. She might have the power to save the infinite worlds around her, but now she has to decide what, or who, she will be willing to sacrifice to save them all.

DREAMER is the perfect combination of everything I loved from TRAVELER, with its own unique touch to form another novel of pure magic. With witty jokes, heartbreaking romance and a thrilling plot, DeLano manages to pack everything I wanted into this one book. From the first page I was enthralled with Jessa and her turbulent relationship with Ben as well as the constant memory of Finn, who I love from the first novel. Often times I end up disliking love triangles, but here I was hooked, never knowing which way the story was going to go, or who I even wanted her to end up with. Additionally, both Ben and Finn are two of my favorite characters, both written so well that I could imagine them standing next to me. Beyond them, the descriptions of her brother, Danny, and his autism consistently blew me away by adding realism, which really added to my enjoyment of the novel.

Although the characters blew me away, nothing affected me as much as the beautiful writing DeLano develops, creating entrancing words that each bring their own dusting of magic to the pages. This book did express more serious tones in relations to the parallel worlds than the first, but I still fell in love with each and every one of her alternate lives. Even the passages presented as Jessa’s own short stories were brilliant, as they seemed to have their own unique author voice that I loved all the same. As mentioned before, the plot of this novel kept me on the edge of my seat from cover to cover. Many novels I read tend to become predictable near the closing, but DREAMER took me by surprise, completely throwing my expectations out the window until the very last chapter.

DREAMER is an essential, a must-read for any younger YA readers who love fantasy, and the perfect sequel to fans of TRAVELER. It’s the perfect introduction to fantasy, as it contains the basic setting of the real world, the number one novel for a beginner. This novel piled up layer on layer of excitement and energy to form the kind of story that will leave any- and everyone begging for just one more book.

Update 4/11/18:

Dreamer was an excellent sequel and final book in the Traveler duology. The story picks up several weeks after the end of Traveler. Jessa is trying to figure out what to do and where to go from here after losing her Finn and still dealing with the big bad threatening to end the world she knows and loves. L.E. DeLano delivered another thrilling story that leaves you breathless until the very end!!

There are many twists and turns throughout the book that you never see coming and made the book and edge-of-your-seat page turner. There was enough action to keep me satisfied but also a good focus on Jessa's personal life and how everything with the Dreamer/Traveler world has affected this. While some people might not like this, I think it was an important part of the story. I also liked the return of Pirate Finn. While he's not the original Finn, I (like Jessa) was fascinated by his character in the first book and I was excited for his return. He and Jessa definitely have something special and I loved how he was right there with her and supporting Jessa no matter what. Don't get me wrong, I love Ben and how he is with Jessa, but there's just something about Finn that I love more. Ben is definitely a great friend to Jessa, but I never felt that same spark or connection that exists between Jessa and Finn. However, I am glad that Ben and Jessa gave it a shot in this book.

Again, I loved Danny in this book but I do wish his character was a little more present in the novel. He has such an understanding of the world that Jessa is apart of, yet no one else realizes and I would have loved to see him play maybe a bigger role in the grand scheme of things. However, I did love that Olivia was finally brought into Jessa's world. This was something very important to me that I wanted to see, so I was happy when her character made an appearance.

The ending was an non-stop thrill ride!! I did think the ending was slightly anti-climactic but it was still a great ending to the story. I loved how things were resolved and how Jessa truly was the key to everything. She trusted herself and she instinctively knew what to do. I would love to see the ending in a movie because I think it would be a beautiful scene.

I would definitely recommend checking this book out if you were a fan of the first novel. I'm sad to see this set of novels come to an end but I do hope that L.E. DeLano writes more books in this world or maybe does a novella or two to keep us updated on our favorite characters. As a side note...isn't the cover absolutely gorgeous!! Seriously, so eye-catching!! Anyway, pick this up as soon as it's released, you won't regret it!

Happy reading :)

Jessa has lost her version of Finn, and she was devastated. Now, as she is traveling to other dimensions, she keeps stumbling upon different versions of Finn. This devastates her, but she still must go on missions for Mario. She spends time in her universe with Ben and her brother, as she tries to piece her life back together. However, when someone unexpected shows up, Jessa's life starts to fall apart again. Add in someone chasing her down trying to kill her, and her life is completely in pieces.

This book was an excellent sequel to Dreamer. I definitely want to read more by L.E. DeLano!

I don't want to spoil too much, which means that I can't talk about that much, but I can just say that you need to read it.
Jessa's character grows so much in this novel as she starts to accept and learn how to utilize her powers. Ben is also helping her with this, as he is really connecting with her brother and making sure that she comes back when she is in her dreams.

The main plot twist of the novel really got to me as I was reading it. At first I didn't like where the story was going, but I eventually warmed up to it until I loved the rest of the novel.
The pacing of this book was just as good as the pacing of the previous one, and I sped right through it even though it was a bit longer.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a YA fantasy-alternate universe-travel novel.
I received this book for free and this is my voluntary review.

*WARNING, SPOILERS FOR BOOK ONE (TRAVELER) IN THIS REVIEW*

This was a satisfying end to the series. I still loved Danny's interaction with the different Jessas and the knowledge of HIS Jessa. And while pirate Finn played a key role in the journey of this story, I am glad that Jessa learned to rely more on the strength of her selves. I was a bit confused as to how the solution to the problem actually worked, but it was entertaining and one of my favorite parts of the story nonetheless. I loved getting to see the parallel realities come to life. Ben was also not shoved to the side in this book, which I appreciated.

I will read anything L.E. Delano writes. She's got a fan for life!

Won arc in a giveaway hosted by the author.

I adored the first book so I knew I would enjoy this especially knowing pirate Finn would be seen again. And it was just as incredible as Traveller and I couldn't put it down. Finished in 2 days. Since it'll be released soon I won't spoil anything but this was absolutely incredible and had a lot of heart breaking moments I wasn't expecting.

I read it one day. I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what happened to Jessa, Ben, and Pirate Finn. I loved Jessa’s relationship with her other “selves” from different realities. I loved how it ended. I was completely satisfied, which rarely happens these days when I read a series. I want to say more, but they would be spoilers. Definitely read this duology.

I got the first book over a year ago and have read it so many times! The storyline, plot and characters are amazing. This sequel went in a completely different direction than I imagined and still managed to blow me away. L.E. Delano has an amazing way of telling the story. You’ll fall in love with the characters even more and feel all the feels! ;)

I. Want. More. I did not think I was going to love these books as much as I did. Cutesie love stories just aren't my thing. Girl falls in love, becomes a damsel in distress, blah blah. It takes away from the adventure of a story. But these weren't like that. Jessa was her own person, her motives were not all about Finn, and she didn't depend on him either. I hope this author writes another one.

Great fantasy novel, this sequel is essential to finding out exactly what happens in Jessa's journey of traveling through alternate realities. The novel mixes action with romance in a riveting way, just as the first book did. The characters are so well crafted in a way that no book has ever done.

will Christine ever find another multiversal story that isn't just a romance in disguise? stay tuned to find out!!!

this was like. 75% love triangle angst 25% mild multiversal chaos without a single sense of urgency i swear it was like nothing MATTERED except the BOYS and there was absolutely no question there of which one she'd pick either like hey we all KNEW it was fated anyway so what did i even suffer through that for. pirate Finn does nothing for me and Ben needs to get over Jessa and Jessa herself. well. yeah. stg half the conflict in this book was Finn and Ben sassing each other out can you both please shut up hope this helps <3 literally the multiverse is gonna collapse and this is all that's happening? cool!!! /s. oh i GET IT Jessa is SEVENTEEN and faced with a Choice but what even was this bro thge Chosen One bit really got swept aside and nothing revealed made any real impact. the whole deal with also there's a big disconnect between the Dreamers and the rest of the story to me because they're the immortal Fates in a way and really what are you gonna Do with the vague mentor character who exists in another plane altogether - it's a hard archetype to write aannddd idk i simply did not care all that much. I did find it pretty slay when Jessa actually got mad at him bc alright there is definitely a convo to be had about the morality of the redirections n all that but that convo was never fully had except with a very drugged out E (skull emoji) and that was also kind of black and white if you think about it
i did like the extra glimpses into the other Jessas' lives and the transfers. i almoostttt bumped it up to 3* for a second in the climax with all the Jessas bc that went pretty hard (i love the epic assemble moment) but it did not override the rest of the suffering i just went through. especially not the bit where Jessa was also such a jerk to her mother for no reason that one scene - and again i get it it's the teenage angst rebellion moment bc LORD knows i went through that too - but really? Finn being the voice of reason there was a COP OUT. am i just mad because all this was was a lot of kissing (mostly uninitiated by Jessa) and weird "we are always the same no matter what" flirting? yes. very much so.
deeply disconnected from everyone especially the villains. how do you make me care about i honestly don't know in this case. i did definitely pity her that was bonkers and he well again there was like one scene total where he ranted about ykw the rest of it was just a very clear cut black and white "we need to stop this" soooo depth Who
anyway maannnnnn there were some pretty cool concepts and ideas it was all just so overshadowed by the grand old love triangle angst drama and J coming to the conclusion that was SO VERY CLEARLY quote unquote fated all along. alright YES this is YA and im CLEARLY the wrong audience for this i suppose other people will have more fun if they care more about the whole Finn thing i dont!! and Ben needs to STOP IT SIRRR (im glad there's an Olivia here tho)
shoutout to Danny as a character tho i feel like his existence grounded Jessa as a character more than anything else

Thank you to Xpresso Book Tours and author L.E. DeLano for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review!

Find this review and more on my blog The Rest Is Still Unwritten!

Dreamer is the second and final novel in L.E. DeLano's Traveler duology and is a fun and enjoyable follow up to it's predecessor that take readers into various dimensions and on dangerous missions.

After the heartbreaking events of the previous novel, Jessa St Clair is trying to adjust to life without her soul mate Finn. Moving on is difficult when the one responsible for his loss is still out there and determined to make Jessa suffer even more. Add in her relationship with her best friend Ben that is getting even more complicated and the appearance of a Finn from another dimension who is beginning to set her heart racing and Jessa is dealing with a lot. Then an old enemy resurfaces and suddenly choosing between who she loves isn't the biggest thing Jessa has to deal with; she'll need to use her Traveler abilities to save the world....if it isn't already too late.

Author L.E. DeLano is back with the sequel to her debut novel Traveler in the form of Dreamer, once again following teenager Jessa who has the ability to travel to various dimensions and realities. I think Dreamer was a very good sequel. Traveler was a mixed novel for me--I enjoyed it, but it failed to blow me away. I think Dreamer was just a little bit more enjoyable in my eyes.

After everything she went through in the first novel, protagonist Jessa finds herself in a tough spot. She's lost her boyfriend Finn, but finds herself getting a piece of him back with the appearance of Pirate Finn; a Finn from another dimension who she has previously met and felt a connection with.

Aside from the overshadowing threat of Jessa's former teacher Ms. Eversor and her Dreamer Rudy who plan to change the world forever, L.E. DeLano focuses Dreamer around the complex relationship between Jessa and Finn. I have to say, I am very much loving "Pirate Finn". I think he just has so much chemistry and charm and he and Jessa are very sweet. I think L.E. DeLano explored this new romance in a way that still respected the relationship Jessa had with the Finn from the first novel.

Taking into consideration that one person can't really replace another even though they are technically the same person; albeit a little different, I think L.E. DeLano approached this perfectly given the circumstances--she left me satisfied with the eventual outcome and not feeling like I had been duped.

Overall, Dreamer was a decent follow up to the first novel. L.E. DeLano has created an interesting world of fantasy and different realities and I feel that this sequel concluded the original storyline well, leaving the characters with nothing but endless possibilities.

In this book Jessa Finn and Ben try to evade Ms Eversor and her attempts to eliminate Jessa. Jessa lost Finn in the last book, in this book the Finn she’s with is the ever charming pirate Finn she met in another reality. I liked him a lot, he’s got a nice Irish accent and uses words like “love” and “mate” which lets you know the character you’re reading about has a distinguishable accent. Jessa avoids a lot of near misses in this book, like being nearly mowed down by a car in a parking lot by Eversor, nearly dying in a fire at her work thanks to some hand sanitizer spilling on a mini over she was using. A lot of near misses, and Finn saves her from every one, he’s just as determined to see Eversor dead as much as anyone considering she killed off the Jessa in his reality. I wasn’t too fond of all the museum stuff, that’s more Bens field the history nut that he is. I hope I never meet a guy who into that stuff personally. I’d rather have a guy who enjoys books like me and likes taking lots of pictures. In this book Jessa is torn between Ben and Finn, she loves them both in her own way, it’s just with Finn that love is more. And Ben really loves Jessa, he doesn’t take it well when Jessa admits her feelings to him about Finn. To be honest I’m more attracted to the pirate type than the history buff, but that’s my preference. So Jessa finds out that Eversor us taking hallucinatory drugs in order to trigger a convergence, to simplify the realities so to speak. She’s off the rails in this book, she’s losing weight and becoming quite deranged. The obsidian mirrors were interesting, when I think of obsidian I think of the dragon glass in game of thrones. I guess the aztecs had to use something with no reflective surfaces around. I loved it when Finn took Jessa to another reality to see mammoths, can you imagine? A creature that’s extinct in your reality and she was lucky enough to be able to pet one, I’m an elephant nut so I wouldn’t mind petting one. After Eversor killed herself things got a little scary when Ben started remembering a reality that Finn and Jessa didn’t,especially with all the soldiers and tanks rolling around like it’s world war three. This was a nice quick paced read for me, I found myself flying through the pages toward the end of it. The ending was really good too, I’m glad Finn lived. A great book with a wonderful story, very imaginative writing.

'Dreamer' is the second book in an exciting young adult fantasy series that fans are sure to love. There are plenty of books about time travel, but rarely do you find alternate realities. The idea is a breath of fresh air to me - mostly because instead of one or even two realities, there are so many varying ones in the world the author creates for the characters. With every mirror and dream being portals to alternate realities - the possibilities are basically endless, and that brings a ton of possibilities to life before our eyes. I loved learning even more about the Travelers and what they're able to do, along with all of the intriguing things the alternate realities contain. I'm personally fascinated by the theory of alternate realities and the multiverse, so this gave me a lot to think about. I loved how the author shows that there are always the same people in each universe, but they might not be the same as the one you know personally. It's kind of confusing, but if you read the book - you'll understand it much better than I'm trying to explain.

The major characters are complex and rounded with unique traits. Jessa, our main character, is the narrator of the book. She's a fellow lover of books and writing - and that only made me like her more. I easily reconnected with her and it soon felt like there hadn't been any time since Traveler. She grows and matures even more over the course of the novel, and I liked watching her change and adapt. The story is told from Jessa's perspective, in the first person - which is by far my favorite style of writing. I think it's a perfect fit for the book. It wouldn't have had the same kind of effect on me as a reader if it had been done differently. I'm excited to see where the next book will take them and what sort of trouble they'll find. I'm looking forward to learning more about Travelers and their gifts, and getting to know the characters even better in the coming books. Recommended for fans of YA fantasy, science fiction, contemporary, supernatural, and even romance.

Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

SPOILERS!!! TURN AWAY YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

I remember falling absolutely in love with the first book.
The concept was unlike any other and I was in love with the exploration and unique attributes of each universe. And of course, Finn. Towards the end, I was very very uncomfortable that Jessa was high key lusting for the pirate Finn WHILE she was still together with her then current Finn, and when he died and when HIS counterpart died I was like HMhmMmhmHMMMMMmhMmMmM NO THIS IS FUCKING STUPID. ANDI KNEW IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE SEQUEL AND IT DID AND IM NOT OKAY WITH THAT 110%

cons:
1. The plot was flat. very flat.
2. I hated the love triangle and the alpha wolf jealous thing. the CRINGEE
3. Why tf did she chose pirate Finn, the one she interacted with less than a few days at best, the one she cheated on with her original Finn, and chose over Ben, who has literally been there for her through thick and thin? Ya nuh uh
4. I hate Jessa for smooching both guys in the same time period. Calm your tits girl
5. The characters were all flat, had no development, and the plot was not engaging at all, i was not invested.

Pros:
1. I like the support Jesse gets from her other versions, and Olivia as well, who all don't know each other well but as unconditional in their care for one another.
2. I liked how Danny's interpretation of the world is brought to the perspective of the dream world and also how he interacts with the people in this book! Literally the only character I took interest in.

Hmmm, that's about it hahaha. I think I've grown much from the time I read the first book. Maybe that's the issue? No longer do I delve into these kinds of...fantasical romances? I'm not sure! But either way, I felt that this was executed poorly and I am rather disappointed as compared to the magic I felt from the first book.

I always complain that there are too many trilogies and series in YA literature and not enough good standalones and duologies, but here is an excellent duology and I'm sad it's over. I'm going to miss Jessa and Finn.

I loved Jessa's adventures in her other realities and her discovering memories from other lives -- especially when they were memories of her and Finn. I absolutely loved those moments of the books.

Obviously, a big part of this plot was about stopping the convergence so this book didn't have as many of the adventurous, romantic scenes as Traveler did, but it still kept me on my toes. My only regret was not reading Dreamer immediately after finishing Traveler because I had forgotten some details and there were a few spots that I couldn't quite remember what was going on or who someone was.

The only thing I have left to say is:
I just want more stories about Jessa and Finn falling in love in different worlds. Is that so much to ask?

4 out of 5 stars.

I was practically squealing like a small child with grabby hands on Christmas morning when I got an ARC of this amazing book in the mail...and although it was really sad to see this story end. I immensely enjoyed returning to this excited world, these fascinating characters and discovering all the secrets this book held within.

The first half of the book was honestly a wild ride that had a lot of twist and turns that left me physically yelling at the book and what was happening inside. I can't really say what's going on because of major spoilers but if you read the first book then you'll be happy to know and slightly relieved that things, serious things get resolved.

It was in those final pages where I thought this book could go on forever and I would still love everything it offered but as I read those final words....those endless possibilities I had for the book ended. I enjoyed the adventures, but mostly I'm going to miss Jessa, Finn, Ben, and Danny.

While this book didn't necessarily Do anything wrong, it also wasn't particularly right. While it was entertaining and quick to read, it was also born g at times. I didn't like the romance, especially between Ben and Jesse since she knew she didn't actually want to date him, and I didn't like how easily she fell back into her romance with Finn.
Honestly, nothing really wowed me. Even though there was some action, this book mainly felt like a love story since it was prominently focused on Jesse and Finn travelling and going on dates. The convergence was handled too easily, the bad guys getting handled was too simple, and the ending was just...easy.
Like I said, thus book did nothing wrong, but it also didn't really Do a thing right either. I didn't hate it, but I also didn't love I th. It is a 3 star read because it was just in the middle. I truly did enjoy Traveler and I wish I could have had the same experience with this one.

This book concluded the series that began in Traveler. Briefly, Jessa learns there are alternate realities and she can "travel" between them, switching herself out for another Jessa in another reality. At the end of the first book, the reader was left with a bit of a cliffhanger. This book picks up exactly where the first book ended and goes full speed until the conclusion.

I enjoyed the concept of the book and I thought the author handled the traveling between realities well. The love triangle within the story was resolved by the end, which was satisfying in and of itself. The book contains no overt sexual conduct and minimal violence, so it is a good fantasy story for all readers.

Recommended.

Overall I enjoyed this and thought it was a great conclusion to the duology. I loved spending more time with Jessa as she learned to travel between different realities. Ben somewhat drove me nuts but because of circumstances (spoilers) I will allow it. I absolutely adored the addition of Pirate Finn. We only briefly saw him in book 1 so it was nice to see him take on a bigger part in the story. For me, Danny stole the show. He was so much more present in this book and I love that.

I was pleasantly surprised with this duology. It wasn't something I would've normally picked up for myself my I did end up really enjoying it.

It continues the story of Traveler quite nicely, but it is weaker somehow.
It has its moments and there is still enough tension to keep you going.
What is weard is that the ending seems to indicate it's the end of the series, but
it does not seem to be.
The love triangle (such as it was) isn't really my thing, sorry but this trope is
getting old.
If you (like me) like parallel universe/portal plots however: do give it a try.
