Sabin: A Seven Novel

Rate this book
This is a New Adult Soft SciFi Romance with graphic language and sex that is not suitable for younger readers.
*Alert* This novel contains Hot Otherworldly Males. Consider yourself warned.

The Seven have a code: find and protect Judgment Day (a weapon of mass destruction that poses as a harmless necklace) and the ones who possess it at all costs; and never, under any circumstances, divulge information about ourselves.

I have always complied with this code. Until Serena Callahan, a sassy, no-nonsense female, found the damn choker, and now I’m the one being choked by my own emotions. Ever since the day she entered my life that code has meant nothing to me. And for the life of me I can’t figure out why I’m allowing a damn woman to lead me around by her slender finger. The rules have changed and she’s calling all the shots only she doesn’t know it. But if we can’t find the necklace soon, none of it will matter anyway.

My name is Sabin and I am the commander of The Seven.

If you liked Jennifer Armentrout’s Lux series, you’re going to love this. It has all the angst, sexy aliens and more fun because this is not a YA novel. This author has an imagination like Stephen King is to horror, she is to Sci-Fi.

Review

Wow, what a captivating read. I finished this one in one sitting and by morning I obviously looked like a freaking Shaurok but let me tell you folks, it was soooo worth it. This novel is a must read!

The Seven are the guardians of Paradox and Judgment Day, both pieces that once put together could wipe out the entire universe. For a long time now, the Seven have been protecting those weapons from the Shaurok and their master Kor. To ensure the Shaurok wouldn't find Judgment Day (that poses as a necklace) they had it in constant motion through the entire universe. But when the necklace gets lost and Serena Callahan, a scuba diver and student of marine biology, finds it...well...lets just say all hell breaks loose.

What I liked about this book the most are probably the two main characters, although Edge comes close to snaching that title. Also, the action and journey all the characters have is mind blowing.

Sabin is frankly said an a rating ass****, who occasionally does have his heartfelt moments. Once he sees Serena he's a goner and becomes really protective of her. I loved seeing him fall for her and for Serena to break his seemingly impenetrable walls. Now, both characters are super headstrong and the result of their crashing wills left me more times than not in laughing hysterics.

I pound on the door and call her name again. Now she's singing about holding on for dear life. No shit. Aren't we all?
"Serena!"
"Ack," she shriecks. "What?"
"I need to speak to you."
"Crap. You scared me."
Yeah, well let me tell you, sweetheart, what your singing did to me.

As for Serena, she didn't have an easy life while growing up but I'm so glad how she turned out. She knows what she wants from life and goes for it. She's also full of sass, at times even playfulness and that, giving the situation she's in, makes her a very strong female character. The best part is seeing her wrap Sabin around her little finger without even knowing it.

"You don't like me naked, then?"
..."What do you think?"
She grins. "I think you like me naked."
"Of course I like you naked! Christ, Serena, I've fucked you every way but sideways. No, I take that back. I've fucked you sideways, too. I can't think straight when you're naked. Now put on some fucking clothes!"

The secondary characters are amazing, as well. I really hope Edge gets his story. From the get go he and Serena form this brother/sister alike relationship and it's so cute to see them together.

This story truly has all the ingredients for an unforgettable book. It has sass, action, romance, betrayal, loyalty, mystery and we even get our HEA.
Honestly people, buy and read it!

OH WOW! A.M. Hargrove created a fantastical world in Sabin.
I was totally captivated from start to finish. I seriously needed to finish just so I could see how everything was going to happen.
This story had so much in it...I was always on the edge of my seat from nail biting action scenes to steamy romantic scenes.
Sabin fills the pages with all his hotness; cause 5 alarm fires all over.. Yeah..you can catch my drift...And everything amps up when he and Serena come together..
A fabulously exciting story that I highly recommend you read!!

While I liked this book I'm not sure I would continue the series. I found the sci-fi piece very interesting. It was the characters lack of personalities that I longed for. Besides Edge and Walter, the rest had no personality.

Serena is working on achieving her dreams of getting her Ph.D. in marine biology. Since leaving her toxic childhood home where her parents treated her poorly, she is finally living the life she's always dreamed of. While out scuba diving, she finds a mysterious necklace and then is attacked. A group of men known as The Seven are there to protect her and find the necklace known as Judgment Day, which can end the civilized world. Unfortunately, it's not in her possession anymore.

Sabin is the leader of The Seven and he is instantly drawn to Serena. He must take her to his world and protect her where the attraction between them only strengthens. Sabin has a complicated past and he may not be able to let Serena into his life, but in his bed is a different story.

This was an alright book for me. I didn't love the characters which was the main issue for me. Sabin was a jerk for the most part and so hot and cold with Serena. Serena was ok, but I just couldn't bond with her. I liked her interaction with Edge, one of The Seven, but it wasn't enough. Lastly,  I couldn't stand that Serena kept getting beaten to within an inch of her life. Once is bad enough, but it happened a lot. Liked it, but didn't love it.

I was so excited for Sabin's story after reading The Fall and Rise of Kade Hart. In that story, he was a dick, but something about his character was likeable enough that I really wanted his story. However, in this story I really struggled to find that element that I loved about him in the previous book. He always seemed so angry and bitchy in this book. And I get that he's got a lot to deal with and he's distracted by Serena, but he did so many things that he told her he wouldn't do again.

After her terrible childhood, Serena manages to come out as a good person. She's not hateful or spiteful. She's a young woman who was treated like crap and bullied as a child. And from the treatment she got from pretty much every member of the Seven and even The League, except Edge, she was still bullied.

They all, Sabin most especially, need anger management. I also was unsatisfied with the Ali'yah resolution. Someone that evil and wretched doesn't change their tune at the snap of a finger.

Overall, this was an ok story. It was a switch from my typical paranormal read with the aliens which was refreshing. I will however continue with the series if the author decides to give us more stories about the members of The Seven.

Sabin is an interesting man and I fell in love with him right off, especially the way he compliments his woman after sex, “he’s under my command. He will do as I ask. And Serena, have I told you how magnificent you were?” We’re still embracing each other. I tilt her chin up with a finger and smile at her. “You pleased me very much.” Then I kiss her." Serena is not a shy girl:
“Finally. I’m famished.” She plops down on the side of the bed and grabs a fork.
“Are you going to eat naked?”
“Yeah,” she answers, her mouth full. “Is that a problem?”
“Yes, it is.” I glance down at my ***k and her gaze follows mine.
She sets her fork down. “Did I do that?”
Sabin can be sweet at times but other times the boy can be a tad bit forceful with his words, “of course I like you naked! Christ, Serena, I’ve effed you every way but sideways. No, I take that back. I’ve effed you sideways, too. I can’t think straight when you’re naked. Now put on some effing clothes!” I loved this book I can't wait for the other boys to get their stories, their personalities made for an interesting time.

Kindly provided with an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review......

Damn this story was good !!!. This was Sabin and Serena's tale. Sabin is a guardian protecting the world from wiping itself out if certain artifacts fall into questionable hands. With me so far ?.....okay.

Lets say that one of those artifacts ends up in the possession of Serena who finds it when scuba diving. This is a major Oh NO !!! for the guardians and Sabin sets of to retrieve the artifact (a necklace).

Until meeting Serena, Sabin was a bit rough and ready !! Finesse was not his strong point. When he see's Serena he's smitten and its amusing how the mighty fall !!!!. I enjoyed the wit of the story line, the pace, the thrills. Yup all round its a definite read non stop in one sitting book !!!

Well done A M and many thanks for this opportunity xx

Sabin is a stand alone book but Sabin was first introduced in The Fall & Rise of Kade Hart (the fourth book of the Kart Brothers Series) and I felt like you might miss some of the back story of you hadn’t that book first.

I have a love hate relationship with this book. The genre is so far off from the Hart Brothers Series but I felt like you needed to read it to get the back story. Characters were mentioned in Sabin several times that you’d be clueless of without reading Kade’s story.

While I lived the action and mystery of this story, I was a bit disappointed. I felt like this author could have given a bit more meat to the story & character, or delved into the working of certain things more. Overall though, it was an easy and enjoyable story. I loved being swept into the “other world” and wouldn’t be disappointed if there was a series made about the Seven.

It was okay. The writing was okay, but the whole thing stayed pretty shallow. The two main characters have a connection that wasn't believable. Serena is whiny and just takes things at face value. She gets mad when she gets no information then just accepts it, and gets mad at the next thing. She makes a lot of dumb decisions with very little reason. Sabin is taking the strong silent type to a new level. He gives out very little information, but there isn't a lot of reason given for this. The story had a lot of potential. The writing and characters were just flat for me.

Sabin and Serena’s story is like a fairy tale.
The characters have very, VERY different backgrounds and thus the tension between them is very high at the beginning. And don’t get me started with the chemistry between both… it is out of this world and at times almost set my e-reader on fire.
The plot is so very twisted that a happily ever after seemed out of reach at some points.

This story is thrilling and entertaining and another proof for Ms. Hargrove’s huge talent!

I haven't read much on the topic of alternate life in the universe, but I am glad I read this. Entertaining and comical due to the over the top personalities of the main characters. And who doesn't love a good love story. I hope to read more of the Seven if they are published. The epilogue was epic....I just loved her getting her bullies back. Great read. I hope for those of you who choose to read this enjoyed it as much as I did.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

This was a pleasant surprise for me. As much as I love shifters, vampires and others, I have never really gotten into Alien storylines....oh excuse me, Sabin takes offense to that word, he is a non-hominoid, not a non-humanoid even.

Sabin is basically a Prince on his planet. His parents, brother and sister have all died before them. His sister died protecting "Judgement Day". Now Judgement Day is gone and he has formed a special group, the Seven, to find it and protect their people.

The evil counterparts in this story are the Mastermind and the Shaurok. If the Mastermind gets Judgement Day, it could very well be the end of the Universe.

Serena Callahan is working on her PhD. in Marine Science. She loves diving and does it whenever she can. While in the Virgin Islands she found a necklace, AKA Judgement Day.

This is Sabin and Serena's story of finding love, passion, danger and trying to save the Universe.

The first chapter or so left me a bit confused. I then realized the characters they spoke of were from the story/or stories prior to this book. I love the "technology" that is used in the story. If even a fraction of this were true it really shows how much we have to learn.

Sabin is an angry man. He has lost all of his family and knows in his heart not none of their deaths were an accident. Then there is his ex-wife who thrives on making him miserable. Then he meets Serena. She is beautiful and sexy and brash.

Serena was a change of life baby, born when her parents were 50. They never loved her, referred to her as a "financial burden". She never ever had her own clothes, she wore clothes from her sisters, (25 & 27 years older than her) that her mother had stored in the attic and smelled of mothballs. This made her get abused, physically and emotionally, at school. She had a terrible childhood but managed to get a full scholarship through college. Her parents even mocked her choice of studies. In College, she finally starts to see her self-worth. She makes some friends and loves what she does.

Sabin has decided Serena must come back to his planet for her own safety while they look for the necklace. Apparently when worn, it leaves an imprint on the skin and anyone seeking it can tell you had worn it.

Serena is in for unimaginable changes and then she has to deal with her crazy attraction to Sabin. Sabin has a hard time because of the way he feels about Serena and his duty. He can be quite the jerk at times because of it.

I really like most of the other Seven and see some great stories coming!

This was a good book and I thank you for the opportunity to read it!

I will admit that I was slightly confused at the beginning of the story. The prologue was a great lead in, but some of the things mentioned to tie this book to The Fall and Rise of Kade Hart confused me a little (though I read Kade's story). I thought maybe this was due to me being tired, so I reread it the next night. Further into the book my confusion was actually cleared up. (I'm only saying this because it may be confusing to those who have not read Kade's story, but it could have just been me as well.) I do agree that the back story needed to be mentioned to bring more insight to the history that ties to the necklace, though.

I really liked Sabin's character. I liked the strength and tenderness he exhibited, which is contrary to how he usually behaves. I liked that he owned his feelings. Serena's character was likeable, and she compliments Sabin. She possesses a different strength that offers support and comfort and she can hold her own when she needs to. I don't want to summarize the plot, because I don't want to spoil anything. I like how Hargrove paints her worlds so vividly that you can easily visualize the places mentioned. It would be a tragedy if I did not mention Walter. I thought Walter was a hilariously cute touch. The guys did not know what they were getting into, but well trained, he may save someone's life one day. But for now, Walters keeps the pee flowing freely on the floor...lol.

This is a good read and a great start to a new series. There were many heated encounters and some action scenes. The end brings some closure, but there are still unsolved mysteries. I was left with many questions that would also spoil the book for those who have not read it yet.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but it did not hook me the way some of Hargrove's other books did. I felt like something was missing, but cannot figure out what. This book is still an awesome story that I would read again. I am eagerly awaiting the next book and hopefully some answers.

4.5 stars, I would highly recommend this book.

This book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVED THIS BOOK.

The idea was so original and you could feel the effort that A.M. Hargrove put into Serena and Sabin's story.

The whole book was so easy to read and get into, absolutely addictive. I shed a whole lot of tears when I read Serena's background and am absolutely baffled how she became such an impressive human being.

Sabin, the book, and title made me research a whole lot, which I really appreciated and loved getting into.

I explained to many friends why they need to read this book and seeing as I love supernatural/mythical romances a lot, I especially enjoyed the new things I learned and that the author made an effort to involve another language.

There were so many surprises in the whole book, so many things I never expected and loved even more because of the authentic way it was put into use and words.

Serena clearly had a hard life while growing up, but became what she wanted to when she finally had the chance to flee from her bullies, all of them.

Sabin, who in my eyes overcame just as many obstacles, is rather gruff in the beginning, but I loved reading his POV, as it gave me a better insight into his thoughts and how he just didn't manage to translate them into words.

Both main characters are strong and admirable seperated, but together? It's like they're the new Bradgelina, only a lot, lot, lot better and more impressive.

This said, the only thing in this book that I disliked was the reunion part.

As someone who is actively against bullying, I didn't appreciate how Serena handled seeing her former class mates, or Sabin for that matter, because they became the bullies, too.

I feel very strongly about bullying, which is the only reason why this book gets 4 out of 5 stars from me.

Thank you for sharing, A.M., it was a great story and I can't wait for the next books in this series.

I received this book direct from the author A.M.Hargrove.

I want to say thank you for passing me your book and welcoming me to world of Sabin. I am now thanks to you in love with hot sexy Aliens! And am now a huge fan of steamy sci-fi books, you have given me a whole new genre of reading.

Now this is a hot hot hot read! I have to say when I started this book I wasn't expecting to be so captivated, the characters are so tight, this is a flawless well thought out and superbly written book, and I loved every second of it.

SABIN I fell in love with him immediately, he is such an interesting complex character. Hot sexy sure of himself alien with just enough insecurity's to make us go all mushy.
He is the commander of the seven. ( Now we're talking seven hot hot super sexy flawless aliens ) they have one thing they live for and that is to protect Judgement Day and the paradox ) But all that changes when Sabin and Serena are thrown together.

SERENA is a strong sassy character she is so loveable, But you wouldn't want to get on her wrong side! There are so many parts in this book where her sassiness and strong mindedness made me laugh! The chemistry between her and Sabin is wonderful, it's the kind we all long for in our own lives.

EDGE I adored he is someone we all want in our lives! That funny crazy boyish character that constantly puts a smile on our faces and makes us feel the world is a better place! He is such a happy go lucky character and his relationship between himself and Serena is just lovely.

RAFE is great and there was a scene in this book between him and Serena that just made me laugh out loud it was so funny.

This is such a brilliant read I fully recommend even if you're not an sci fi fan ( you soon will be! ) Just take the time to read it A.M.Hargrove doesn't disappoint.

Wow I just had to read this book because I loved the Hart Brothers series so much and had to find out what happened to Sabin. Sabin falls for the next person he has to protect Serena. Their chemistry is through the roof. Serena has had a hard life and past and tries really hard not to let Sabin in. Sabin doesn't understand what feelings are. Will they end up together or not. Not a fan of paranormal but this was a very good read. Awesome job

I enjoyed reading this novel. I like the fact that I didn’t have to read the other books that Sabin was involved in. Ms. Hargrove provided back stories for Sabin & all the other characters in this story. I sincerely hope she continues to write about The Seven, because each character that she involves in this story was interesting & makes you want to know their stories as well.
Ms. Hargrove provides you with a vivid worlds. She provides you with interesting ways of transportation, and how another world works.

Serena is a SCUBA diver, as well as attending school to become getting her Ph.D. in marine biology. During a dive, she discovers a necklace. One that she decides to keep, but she allows her friends to borrow the necklace.
Sabin & his team, called the Seven, are searching for the necklace, Judgment Day, that Serena has found. This necklace is not a simple item, it is part of a device (Paradox) that might destroy a universe. The Seven are suppose to guard the individual with the necklace to prevent “Mastermind” from getting the item.

I enjoyed this book. The characters are strong & develop into interesting individuals. Each one has a pull that makes you want to keep discovering how they will act in the story & how they act with each other.
You will, also, find that want to know more about this world Ms. Hargrove has created.
I believe that Ms. Hargrove’s talent as a writer is impressive. If her other story are as well written as Sabin, they will be great reads too.

I received a free ARC for an honest review.
So I am going to start with saying that this book is a nice read specially if you have read the authors previous book . I think the biggest flaw in this book is many things go unnoticed and questions are left to be answered.
Sabin is showed to be a great character in the start but he does not show that control and power after a quarter of the book. He was supposed to be the leader and he should be having the most knowledge and power over there and even though he has a nice way of showing his power, in terms of anger, he is not at all tactical and smart as to put it .Which makes him Look like a teenager put up in a grown up's pants.
Serena is shown to be a strong person and as much as I like the relation between her and Sabin at points she acts as a child(and I mean literally) even though she has so much experience from her life in a manner of speaking.
The author has written it nicely and is a long novel but I think that many key points that should have been cleared up. which is the reason I rated the book a little low than I should have .

Note to the author : You have created a large world (universe) in your book and considering the length of the story you fail to mention many key things about the whole thing apart from Sabin and Serena's story . Hoping for a next novel with more questions answered.

I rate this book 3.5/5
A fare read to all readers ;)

PS:I am a novice reviewer so keep that in mind :p

Sabin, leader of the Seven, is on the search for a doomsday weapon that could end the world in the wrong hands. Sweet Serena’s love of diving is going to thrust her into Sabin’s world, when she finds a pendant that intrigues her. I loved their relationship. Their dynamic was sweet and definitely met up with the expected standards. You know, loner meets his Achilles heel… you know, the best kinds ~ ~

It was a good novel, but I felt it needed a bit more attention in certain places. The storyline while forecast-able was told in a manner that made it interesting. However, I would have loved to see more about the brotherhood of the Seven. Is there sub-genre we love more than the Brotherhood type? Serena and Edge are supposed to be BFFs later, but their interaction until their closeness was thrust upon us wasn’t quite shown. Sure, they had a few encounters, but definitely not the kind that I believe would have led to the kind of friendship that was later indicated. Still, I love me some edge though.

I like all the characters in this book, but I would have loved to see some more interaction between the seven, but I guess that’s what book 2s are for. I am definitely in for that, but I hope I get to see more family moments.

Overall, this was a good book and I’ll like to see more of the characters. 4 stars!!!!
