St. Celine boasts secluded pink-sand beaches and sparkling turquoise waters just an hour's ferry ride from Nassau. In the wake of a personal tragedy, Sarah and Amy arrive for a week of sun and margaritas and maybe some romance with the locals. But Sarah's obsession with a pair of honeymooners who disappeared from this paradise leads to the discovery of a bizarre video posted online by the couple just hours before they vanished - images of a purported vodou zombie ritual somewhere on the island. As Sarah and Amy attempt to verify the authenticity of the video and perhaps learn the fate of who made it, they uncover St. Celine's tragic and horrifying past - and secrets the island's inhabitants will protect at all costs.
A thrilling tale sure to bring shivers under the hottest tropical sun.

This book is definitely A! material - I really enjoyed reading it, and would certainly be interested in reading more from Will Overby in the future. The story was fast-paced and thrilling; although perhaps slightly more rushed than I was expecting - at least towards the end. Actually, Mareena told me that what first drew her eye to this book was the cover, and then the subtitle. She didn't even need to read the entire synopsis; before she thought she'd download it for me.
Sarah and Amy schoolteacher friends embark on a weeks holiday on a secluded island. Whilst researching the paradise Sarah comes across a story of a couple who vanished a few years ago while on holiday on the same island. She becomes a tad obsessed about their disappearance but goes on holiday just the same. A story of a missing couple, a love affair and some dark arts.
This book was entertaining at least. At first I didn't like how the POV kept changing but as I got used to it I didn't mind at all.
At every turn I thought I knew when something was going to happen. After all it mentions zombies and what not in the description. It was a pleasant surprise when things didn't go the way I thought they would. Nicely done.
The one and only complaint I have is that we still don't know why Sarah was seeing her fiance’s ghost. It lingered over her through the whole book but never got answered.
All in all, I say give it a read. It's not boring but it's not a crazy thriller either. Entertaining.

Sarah is having a rough time after the death of her fiance. She is seeing his ghost. So when Amy suggests they go to St.Celine on vacation it seems perfect with its secluded pink sand beaches and turquoise waters. It's just an hour ferry ride from Nassau. But Sarah is obsessed with a pair of honeymooners who disappeared from St.Celine she finds a bizarre video on you tube. Posted hours before they disappeared showing images of a vodou zombie ritual somewhere on the island. So when Sarah and Amy begin asking questions about the couple and the video and who maybe posted it. They uncover St. Celines tragic and horrifying past- and the inhabitants will do anything to protect the secrets of the island at all costs. I just could not stop reading , the story captured me from the first page. If you love stories about voodoo, zombies, the undead and with Dr's i highly recommend you read this book . I look forward to reading more by Will Overby.
The Island by Will Overby is a spine tingling tale about two college teachers, Sarah and Amy, that head off to an island near the Bahamas for some rest and relaxation. They stumble into more than they bargained for, however, as the island has some secrets of its own. A great read, total page turner. I highly recommend this novel, unless you yourself are about to head off on a trip to an island. It might change your mind.
The writing was good, but I couldn't really tell who the main character was supposed to be as he kept switching back and forth between two people which was a little confusing. Also this book was really not scary at all.
