Hi Almost Cool Girls and Boys, Some of you might have read Diary of an Almost Cool Girl- My New School. Did you ever wonder why Maddi had to leave her last school? What happened that could be so bad? In this book, you get to meet a slightly younger and less wise Maddi and find out what happened at her old school (before she was asked to leave). Hope you enjoy this prequel to the BEST SELLING Diary of an Almost Cool Girl Series.
Cute book. Some funny parts. Wish it had been longer. Maddi is worth reading more about. Read it with the granddaughter and she and I found it to be a fun read.
A cute story for younger readers, written in kid friendly language. The main character Maddi is fun and spunky and not afraid to stand up to the class bully. Overall a cute book for young readers, but it does need some editing due to a few grammatical errors throughout.
I chose this t rating as it was such a short and snappy book some bits were funny some bits were not but I loved it.
I chose this book because it was something different and unusual and I had never seen a book like it before so I got It read it and loved it completely I well and truly recommend this book
It was a good book, but it was really short. This was kind of interesting, but it would go from one thing to a completely different thing, so it was kind of bouncing around.
This short story is about a young girl named Maddi. The story starts with Maddi sitting in the principals office waiting for her mum to arrive so he can explain how Maddi almost burnt the school down.
Maddi's first diary entry tells the readers that she gives everyone nicknames based on their traits such as her parents and teachers. The book goes on through some lessons and trouble she has with the schools MG (Mean Girl).
One day Maddi tries to get the day off school so that her mum doesn't end up volunteering in the school canteen but it doesn't work and the children all complain to Maddi about her mum who uses tofu instead of sausage, give out vegetables instead of a bag of crisps and gives on kid a green smoothie instead of the chocolate milkshake they wanted, but Maddi's week gets worse when her parents tell her that their getting divorced.
After a lot of chaos Maddi finally tells the readers about the big fire that almost burnt down the school. It happens when Mr. Facebook one of her other teachers ends up taking her for science, she is sat at the back of the class and cannot hear the instructions for the experiment clearly and when she she asks the teacher he is to busy on his phone to pay any attention to Maddi and he just says yes so Maddi makes a mistake and the experiment goes wrong and she ends up throwing her beaker in a waste paper basket which sets the fire alarms off.
The story is nicely written but is definitely written more for children
MADDI... Almost a cool girl. Absolutely she's a nice girl doing loads of FUNNY things. This is a very interesting, enjoyable & delicated story. I like the way that author build the story. Such a LOVELY book!!!!!!
Read this with my gf's little sister, so most of this is her thoughts about the book.
We both liked Maddie 😍 she was cool in our book. It was so funny how she had nicknames for everyone, and the illustrations were great. Just wish there was a picture of MG (Mean Girl), when she put Maddie's pencil in her mouth, knowing what DustBin (Dustin) had been doing with it 😬 that made us giggle so much 🤭
The writing didn't necessary feel like a diary written by a girl that was 11y, 6 months and 3 days.
I would give this book a 3 out of 5 because even though the book is really funny the ending was simple and plain. I have high expectations when it comes to book endings. I expect books to have powerful endings, but this book had a simple ending. I would recommend this book to someone who likes funny books and doesn't have very high expectations for endings
There's no doubt that this series is going to be fun. When you start off with the fire department and ambulance at a school because of a fire in the science department then you know something odd is going to happen.
(I remember when I was in high school the principal and the fire chief got into an argument. The chief said we had to go outside every single time the fire alarm went off. Students found out and before long we were going outside four or five times a day and had to stay out until the fire department came! This went on for days until the principal and the chief agreed to change things.)
The main character is Maddi. Shelly is her best friend. Maddi's got a teacher that pays more attention to his phone than to his students. He mother has volunteered at the school canteen but she only prepares “healthy” food.
Maddi deals with bullies quite well but there's a major problem at home. There's a lot of funny things that happen and we find out who is responsible for the fire and what happens to that person.
👧This book is about Madonna Bill or Maddi’s bizarre school adventures jotted down in a form of a diary consisting of delicate Miss Barbie, mean girl Bethany, Justine and his smelling three months old ham burger & many more funny and entertaining episodes. And yes not to forget her excitement and experiment at school made her health conscious mother decide to change her school too.
👧It's a quick & easy read with some good & simple illustrations. There are some funny spots too which are very entertaining.
👧It’s a light-hearted, yet interesting read about school drama and growing up. Definitely this one is for people to pick up and read. It might not be plot driven but it's funny and entertaining. It has a sequel too and I am looking forward to read it.
I loved that this book is full of humor and that the vocabulary is challenging enough for the intended audience. Other things I loved about the book: Interesting characters, amusing dialogue and illustrations and fast-paced plot. I would recommend for children ages 8 to 12 though adults will also find it entertaining. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
Fast flowing, easy going story telling. Great characters, fantastic dialog. I loved this from beginning to end. My youngest a d I will be getting the rest of these books. Enjoyable story telling.
Sweet, cool and believe able. Sometimes being a kid is hard. Grownups have their own problems and kids have to work stuff out for themselves. Read and enjoy!
