This is a love/hate book for me. The story was so very disturbing that I was afraid to finish it, but the writing was so good and the characters were so rich in detail that I had to see how it would conclude.
Vampirism by definition means the taking of ones life force by another. We all have had that one person in our life that when we part ways with them, we feel empty, drained and exhausted. Nico is that guy, he is a yoga guru who knows how to attract members of the opposite sex and to help heal them with ancient spiritual rituals. Luna is a strong accomplished woman who loves her husband and in general is happy with her life yet she goes to him willingly seeking his help. She doesn't know what she is in for.
This is book about relationships, how they can destroy us and build us up. This is about control, pure and unadulterated control. I was broken while reading this book, I wasn't sure if I was going to be okay, then I closed the cover, took a deep look inside myself and said, "I am not Luna. I never will be Luna." This is a cautionary tale that should be handed to teenagers, except for the really hot sexy scenes that will make you melt for all the right reasons, this lesson should be taught to all women. What scared me the most about this book is that it is real, someone had to experience this in order to talk about it. This is the ghost story that we don't tell around the campfire for fear that it will happen to us.
There were times I struggled with this book, but I am a better person for sticking it out and persevering. If you can handle a very dominate male lead and some touchy subject matter, please do yourself a favor and read this, it is informative and entertaining in one beautifully wrapped package.Thank you Luna St. Claire for dealing with this hard subject matter so that we have such a wonderful reading experience that helps us grow as well.
