Part of a series which aims to inform non-specialists about recent developments in science, this book examines the recent discovery of the genes that influence the development of the brain in the embryo. The book describes the basics of cerebral structure, cell formation, the mechanisms by which the brain controls thoughts and emotions, recent theories on thought and language, and the nature of human consciousness.
A waste of time. I am deeply confused by the title of the book; it's just wrong. Out of 118 pages, I think only a bit more than a dozen contain any information relevant to the brain. The rest of the book contains nothing but author's superficial musings regarding French politics, public opinion about researches, and useless mumbling about opinions of researchers about several various niches of science. If you want to read about brain, read something else, for this book will be just a waste of your time.
