Summary:

This is a nonfiction book all about giraffes. There are details and pictures that lists awesome facts about giraffes and how they live.

Evaluation:

This book contains images on what a giraffe eats and how they live. It is easy for the reader to learn new facts about a giraffe that they might not know about. It is a book that I would like to incorporate into my classroom.

Teaching Ideas:

For a science lesson teaching about animals, I would read this book to students to introduce what a giraffe is and details about it. I would then have the students write sentences about a giraffe. I would want to know what they eat, what they look like, and where there habitat is.

This book is about the life and habitat of the giraffe. It describes simple facts about the animal as well as what it eats, where it lives and facts about its young. This is a perfect beginning non-fiction book for little ones. The text is easy to read and the photographs are beautiful. The book contains beautiful photographs of giraffes in their habitat. Children can get an up-close look at these amazing animals. This book is part of a series including many different animals. Other similar books include Lions, Sharks, Elephants, and Tigers. I really love this series. It is perfect for beginning readers.

Non fiction full of facts about giraffes. My complaint with this book was the series of weird “Q&A” they had on a few pages. I think they were supposed to be jokes, but they weren’t all that funny. I also think it’s confusing to put jokes like this in a nonfiction book without explicitly making it clear to the young reader they are jokes. “Why is a giraffes neck so long? So it doesn’t smell it’s feet. ”-just weird, confusing, and didn’t add anything.

"We're so proud of you for reading about giraffes!. Giraffes use their unique height and special features to detect threats and access distant leafy branches. Your unique qualities make you special just like giraffes do. Your curiosity about animals and nature transforms you into a young scientist who discovers the wonders of our amazing world. Your reading journey is excellent because you are doing a great job.

Giraffe's legs are as tall as a grown man's, and they are the tallest animals on land. No giraffe has the same spots; that is how people tell them apart. Giraffes eat from 16 to 20 hours every day. Baby giraffes can run for a few hours after they are born. When a giraffe snorts, it means there is danger and is warning others.

A nonfiction informative book about giraffes for beginning readers.

Lots of great little info tidbits on giraffes with fantastic accompanying photographs. There's a little activity in the back, along with vocab and jokes along the way. Some of the vocab will be challenging for beginning readers (well, just giraffe itself is a hard word to sound out correctly) so perhaps review words before you crack the cover with little ones.

Summary
This book is about giraffes and all of the different features about giraffes. It talks about their habitat, diet, and their body features.

Evaluation
I really enjoyed the real life pictures of the giraffes because it gives the readers real life examples and pictures of the habitat and diet. Students can see what they actually look like instead of just drawings of it.

Teaching Ideas
I would use this book to talk about nonfiction books and informational texts. I would point out the different features in the books like table of contents, glossary, etc.
