Rate this book
In this incredible and moving memoir, Lieutenant Scott Flanigan, with author Brian Wood, have created a collaboration worthy of any reader wanting to learn more about American troops in Iraq; the brotherhood of a platoon; what sacrifices were made to offer staunch protection of innocent men, women, and children; and, the reality that war is hell. Flanigan was part of a record-setting company during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Dead Rabbits is the story of a tenacious group of soldiers who battled for the freedom of Dora, Iraq, citizens. It is a story of urban warfare, of how soldiers not only fought insurgents but also for the trust and friendship of the Iraqis by obtaining grant money to build new roads, sewers, and provide electricity-common, basic human needs. Dead Rabbits is a story of soldiers who kept the peace and kept their word, no matter how challenging their charge.

Poorly edited. Bad writing, weird he didn’t define things until halfway through the book. Still don’t know why they called themselves dead rabbits. Too much telling instead of showing. Why would a YA author write this story?

Worth reading though.
