Concluding the first new-canon comic tale set between episodes VI and VII! As the Empire Shatters around them, Rebel heroes fight for a better tomorrow! Greg Rucka (Punisher, Cyclops, Wolverine) and Marco Checchetto (Punisher, Avengers World) take us into the more recent long, long time ago!
Greg Rucka, is an American comic book writer and novelist, known for his work on such comics as Action Comics, Batwoman: Detective Comics, and the miniseries Superman: World of New Krypton for DC Comics, and for novels such as his Queen & Country series.
This 4-Part mini series was amazing, and a great filler between ROTJ and The Force Awakens. Writer Greg Rucka is at his best, coupled with the beautiful artwork by Marco Checchetto...capturing every moment of the Star Wars universe. Sadly, this is only 4 issues, so I hoped there would be more coming. Although, Marvel has been producing many supplement comics that lead up to Force. Great great series.
The only thing I really question here, and this is a spoiler if you haven't read it *spoiler* why did they lead Shara and Luke all of the way to the trees if they knew she wasn't who she pretended to be? Why does no one just shoot?
There is a minor typo in the opening crawl. I like that, three months after Return of the Jedi, Luke was chill like Qui-Gon Jinn. He was even able to set down detonators around him and direct the explosion toward his enemies! His eyes looked weird at some parts though. My biggest problem is that Shara is supposed to be disguised as Alecia Beck (from Rucka's Smuggler's Run) and looks nothing like her. It turns out that the Imperials are not so stupid, but I feel that Luke should have learned from Han how Beck looks. I expected both Shara and Kes to die and for Poe to be adopted by Leia, but they survive. I am on the fence on whether or not this is a good story choice. I really wanted to see little Poe, but he is never shown. But now they are settled on a jungle planet where one of the trees they rescued, which were from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and strong in the Force, is growing. Will The Force Awakens be like Avatar? Who knows?

"It was okay." - 2.5 star rating, with a round down to a 2.
Not my favorite ending being kind, for an otherwise really strong Star Wars comic.
They broke the formula here that was seriously kicking butt in the previous three (3) issues, by trying to hero worship Luke and pivot the entire finality and comic book all around him. Big miss for me, as Luke is okay he is not such an idol to wash away all the other great characters, space battles, and all the other directions that they should have taken this comic.
All in all though, Shattered Empire is a great Star Wars collection that I thoroughly enjoyed, despite a lackluster ending.
#4 “You’ve got a mastery of Imperial arrogance, Lieutenant. Very nice.” – Luke to Shara who is about to impersonate a senior imperial commander “It’s easy. You just act like everyone else is a BUG you’re too busy to SQUISH.” – Shara .
This one was a bit different from the first three - Shara Bey is being released from the military with honours, but while she wants to create a home for herself, her husband Kes, and their son Poe, she still feels guilty about abandoning the Rebellion when they're still fighting the Empire. So, she gets roped into one last mission, being pilot for Luke Skywalker as he goes after something hidden deep in an Imperial research vault.
Luke's a fantastic pilot, he just needs someone to pretend to be the Imperial commander, and up until they realise that said Imperial commander has a robotic eye, Shara is surprisingly convincing. Perhaps she had a past with the Empire - many Rebels did. Since the plot was rumbled from the beginning, you'd have thought that the Imperials wouldn't just lead them exactly where they needed to go and would have just shot them. Instead, in the manner of Dr. Evil, they put the heroes in an easily escapable situation right next to the very thing they were looking to steal from the Empire. It's not like we didn't already know they'd get out just fine - Luke couldn't be hanging out on an isolated island by himself in Force Awakens if they didn't.
While it was nice to see everything resolved nicely for Shara, I did find myself wanting to know more about what they stole from the Empire. I suppose it could just be decorative, but if the Empire had it under such heavy security, I doubt it.
Shara and Luke!!! I loveeed the series so much, I want to read more of Shara and Kes but at the same time I think that's enough. I truly enjoyed shattered empire. It was nice to learn about Poe Dameron's roots.
Also, a lot of people have this theory that because of poe growing up around this force-sensitive tree made him force sensitive but the force in him is not strong enough to become a jedi, and that's why he's the best pilot in the galaxy, he uses the force.
But seeing the movie he was amazed when Kylo hold back the ray of his ray gun and also kylo said that he was impressed of him for holding back the information in his mind from him that long.
1- He doesn't know he's force sensitive or 2- he's totally not force sensitive at all.
PS: Sorry for making this all about Poe.

Introducing to you, out of the blue, Mr Jedi Himself, here's Luke Skywalker to save the day! Together with the-new-woman posing as a high-ranking Imperial officer (someone seems to have forgotten the Empire's Non-HuMan policy here), they're off to infiltrate an Imperial base. Although the cover and reasoning is paper-thin, this part is actually interesting, unlike the previous parts of the tale. Unfortunately, just as it gets interesting, we're thrust back into full action mode, before something of an anti-climatic end.
2 1/2 stars, as the middle part of this issue was actually quite intriguing, but failed to deliver on it's own promise.
Sin duda la mejor grapa de la serie que deja con ganas de más especialmente después de ver el nuevo integrante que se une en esta parte de la aventura.
Artwork = amazing; story - decent. This is a comic book about Poe's parents. Recommend to anyone who isn't disgusted with SW:TFA and Disney buying Lucasfilm.
Great closing chapter to Shattered Empire. We get a little bit of a clue as to what Luke may have been up to during Force Awakens. Jedi relics. Also fun to see Poe's parents find their home.
