Miss Caroline Jennings is facing a life of shame and poverty. She has lost everything. Her home, her father, and any chance of happiness. What is more? If her father’s secret is exposed. She will be known as the daughter of a traitor.
Surely, life cannot get much worse.
When a carriage accident throws her into the river. - fitting punishment for her father’s crimes. - She is tempted to allow herself to succumb. It is only the thought of her two younger sisters and the strong arms of her rescuer that keep her among the living.
Alexander Vessey, Viscount Beachmont, ex-soldier, and one of the richest men in Britain. A classic hero if she’d ever seen one. Big, strong, and commanding. Any woman’s heart would flutter like hers to be saved by him.
His heroics unfortunately have saved her for a life of loneliness and want.
However, when he offers her a marriage of convenience it seems the perfect solution to regain her life. The only danger she faces now is the possibility of losing her heart.
This was an entertaining story about a viscount that married a woman he had rescued from a river. He married her to keep devious debutantes and their mothers from trying to trap him in marriage. There is a mystery behind who the h's Father really was and an evil villain. He tried to kidnap the h and her sister so he could get money he felt was coming to him. I liked how the couple fell in love over the course of the book. I loved how he planned to stay away from her and how he kept failing at it. The epilogue was really good too and was way in the future when their children were grown up. I like that. It makes me hope that HEA's are forever.
This story is okay, somewhat formulaic but interesting... the serious problem is the spelling, the use of punctuation, and the poor sentence structure. Where commas are included, they are invariably misplaced. A good portion of the sentences are simply fragments. I preserved, but sometimes could discern what the author really meant. Had the story been exceptional, the mistakes would have been frustrating. However, with the poor characterizations, lackluster plot and run-of-the mill storytelling, the mistakes were untenable.
She had made a mistake she realized. She had handed herself to him. He would use her to get what he wanted. But this man had made a mistake as well. He had left Alexander free. She knew in the depths of her very being that Alex would turn the world over to save her. The Demon didn't realize what he had done. By taking her, he had sealed his own fate.
Things are not going well for Miss Caroline Jennings. Her father has died and left her and her two younger sisters penniless. After their London home is sold in an auction, she travels to her childhood home in Dorset to determine if it's inhabitable. On her way back to London, the bridge beneath her carriage collapses, and she's thrown into the water.
Alexander Vessey, The Viscount Beachmont, doesn't think twice before leaping into the river to save the drowning woman. He takes her home where she can be cared for by his former nanny. When Caroline recovers and begins preparing to leave with her sisters for Dorset, Lord Beachmont suggests they enter into a marriage of convenience. His proposal was really douchey, but after they were married, he didn't follow through on his plans to keep his friend with benefits. Their convenient marriage becomes quite inconvenient when they fall in love with each other and must trust one another in order to stop a madman.
This book was another hit for me from G.L. Snodgrass who is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Snodgrass is quite the word weaver and knows how to hook the reader as she tells a story.
I was pleased to see the hero and heroine from the first book in this series again.
In my opinion, the sensuality was perfect! The two sex scenes were romantic and passionate.
Yes, there were some grammatical and spelling errors in this book, but they did not prevent this reader from enjoying the story.

The plot and characters were interesting and I wanted to know what happened - this is the only reason I gave it 3 stars. But how is it possible that an author could confuse
wearily for warily (wearily just didn't make sense in the context) nonplussed for non-pulsed tomb for tome on slot for onslaught
That doesn't mention the typos or misplaced apostrophes and other grammatical errors. If you can't afford an editor, it's a simple thing to turn your book over to a trusted friend who has a good grasp of the English language.
It's such a shame though. Despite the intriguing plot - in the future when I see the author's name, I'll pass.
The typos. Oh, God, the typos. It was as if, toward the end of the book, the editor (if there was one) just gave up. It completely detracted from the story, which might not have been a bad thing. The characters are sort of paper dolls, with only vague personalities appearing. We don't get any real sense of their motivations, what they like, or what their future might be together. I won't be reading any more from this author.
This was a fairly normal romance with a well-worn plot of a damsel in distress and a strapping hero coming to her rescue. The characters were kind of fun and it was a good junk food read except for one thing; the grammar and editing were atrocious. There are many incorrectly capitalized words and more sentence fragments than I care to count. I made it through the book but the lack of proper grammar was jarring throughout.
Misspellings, sentence fragments in lieu of actual sentences, a made-up word or two...the poor quality of production was very distracting to the actual attempt to read. Sorry.
I read this book in a few hours. I could not put it down. Caroline and Alexander 's story is wonderful. It is a fast moving story with many twists and turns that keeps the reader from putting the book down. I also liked how she brings much loved characters that became beloved in the series back to be part of the story line.Enjoy!
I really wanted to give this 1 star, but thought I'd be nice because I *mostly* liked the story.
However, as other people have said - HIRE A PROOFREADER & EDITOR! There were typos, spelling mistakes, punctuation mistakes, incomplete sentences, sentences that should have been complete (if only the author had left the period out), and just plain wrong words. In the beginning, I figured they had just been missed....but by the end, I was just plain irritated that someone had let it be published without a reading by someone who actually knew the rules of the language.
Oh, and the other thing that was really annoying - the CONSTANT capitalization of words that didn't need to be capitalized. "The Viscount", "The Butler", etc. Yes, it IS correct to capitalize them in *some* instances, but not every.single.time.
Anyway, I liked the general premise behind the book. I didn't mind the characters too much. I thought the ending was rushed, and I didn't like how the epilogue was set 20+ years in the future and really had no bearing on the story as a whole.
Caroline and Alexander, perfect pair. Enjoyable story. I liked how the author wrote the consummation of their marriage. She was nervous, as a virgin should be. Yet, she was curious at the same time and that curiosity over road the nervousness. The author made the heroine to be a mature, sensible, graceful and totally likeable. She also made the Hero, a TRUE hero... several times in the story. He was a very strong individual, inside and out, had a few demons of his own but worked them out. There was no doubt about the attraction between, I felt it as I read on. One thing I didn't care for was all the what ifs, guessing and maybes. But that's, I guess is what to be expected when one goes into a marriage not knowing one another. This story is a quick read, entertaining and worth your time.
Surprisingly good! After the reviews I read about it, I started out with extremely low expectations. The proofread would have been a bonus and the ending felt rushed, but overall it kept me interested and reading until the last page, all in one go... The plot was only ok, the characters were likeable, the dialogues a bit unrealistic and awkward. But what I really liked was how she/he (the author) managed to bring life to any situation, be it funny or heartbreaking or thrilling or sexy, and the story just flowed seamlessly. A great choice for a few relaxing hours.
Another lovely story with some exciting twists and turns. Nicely done. I appreciate how the aristocrats in this series have served their country and go out of their way to give their fellow comrades jobs and opportunities. A wonderful legacy in any era. I do enjoy the "where are they now" epilogue.
The story was engaging. However, I wasn't able to get past the grammatical errors and sentence fragments. The characters were shallow and I wasn't always sure of their motivations.
I saw the Goutet review and was leary, but I did VISCOUNT'S BRIDE as an audiobook, so I literally did not see minor execution problems. #2 of 4 in a series but a whole story. Audiobook narration is very good, with lots of pitch, rate and vocal variation, thus avoiding the dread sing-songy pattern of some narrators. Appropriately British. Functions as a stand alone, could read in any order, but 1->4 is best.
Story: Caroline Jennings, oldest of three sisters, has been recently impoverished by a father who became mysteriously rich, Alexander Vessey, who is growing tired of ton moms trying to trap him into marriage.
Note to author: With a bit more snarky humor you can enjoy the popularity of J. Quinn or T. Dare or add more bigger issue sentimal angst and join M. Balogh. A bit more historic political detail and visual description would enrich your books for me. Please consider adding some of your books to public library audiobook apps to build your audience in an egalitarian way. Love your book. Keep writing. (less)
I loved this book up til the end. The ending felt too abrupt, there should have been 1 or 2 more chapters before the Epilogue that was so far into the future. This is why I gave 3 stars instead of 5.
What happened to Caroline’s sisters Beatrice and Alice? Did the girls have a great debut and make good marriage matches? After all they were a primary reason Caroline agreed to the marriage with Alex. Why did we not get to enjoy Alexander learning of Caroline’s first pregnancy? What ever happened to Alexander’s handicapped half-brother James?
The future of too many of the characters was left unexplained & unresolved.
Other than that, I loved the story plot and the main characters. Overall a great read. But I would ask the author for either a novella or an extended epilogue to answer the above questions.
So, not the best story by this author but I really think it was the narration that bothered me most. The story was fine but felt a bit cold and forced to then suddenly heat up as quick as it did. The use of the wrong title for viscount's wife yes is a simple error that should have been fixed but if you're not super detail oriented then it may not bother you. As with other books by this author the bedroom door stays wide open and is definitely an adult read. The narrator was fine during most of the book, the part that bothered me the most was the viscount's much younger brother was given an American little kid accent that didn't fit the story.

The love story of Caroline and Alexander. After the death of her father Caroline find she and her sister are without funds. She has decided to move the family to her father old home. On her return to London, she is rescue by Alexander after fall in a river. Alex lean of her situation he offer her marry of convenience. Can convenience marry turn to a love marry even if her father is a trader.
Caroline and her sisters are officially destitute. They have to leave London behind and move into a hovel is Dorset. Then on her way she falls into a lake and is rescued by who she was a workman that turned out to be a viscount. Alex never wanted to marry, but he met Caroline and wanted to rescue her. His solution is a marriage of convenience. Can this arrangement turn into love?
I loved reading The Viscount's Bride. Alex and Caroline are well suited for one another. But getting beyond her insecurities and his provides the backdrop for this love match. The secondary characters were terrific and I'd love to have read more about them.
this was a good book story was really good the characters were all well written very hot a lot of action nice storyline now I want to read the next one hope you enjoyed it as much as I did
The grammar and punctuation was all over the place in this. Statements ending with question marks was distracting. I have to wonder if the author understands what a smirk is? The hero displayed the look at what I would consider inappropriate times.
Great characters, the store takes you through so many emotions. It has it all passion, love, mis understanding, suspense and terror. Love the book and I recommend it to all of you that enjoy reading a book our can't set down.
I can't believe how much I loved this book! I recently discovered this author and now I'm reading book after book of hers. Not too angsty with the right amount of sizzle. Definitely a feel good read. This has been my favorite of hers so far. Love the hero!
The plot for this book was a little better, I think, than that of each of the previous books I've read by this author. It was a good story that would have been more enjoyable without all the word usage errors and misspellings.
A story about two people who meet in unusual circumstances and change each other's lives. Great characters, dialog, and plot. A historical romance lover's dream ending.
A great story . Really enjoyed it. It is good that. Characters from her previous books crop up in this one. It adds to its reality. Looking forward to the next one in the series.
Classic period romance with innocent parties. A villian painted well with enough perils to make it interesting. Avoidance of the issue all part of the course.
