The last thing on Damian Archer’s mind is a relationship. He’s focused on running the family business and keeping up appearances. He’s fine with the way things are, until the tattooed help at a friend’s party takes one look at him and calls him on his bull.
Fired from a brand new job, Fin Thornton is homeless and penniless. He knows men like Damian. He abhors men like Damian. Despite the wealthy man coming to his aid when he desperately needs it, Fin is hesitant to lower his guard. Yet Damian insists on being in Fin’s face, demanding things and offering help.
In spite of their differences, something keeps them wanting each other. The same connection that has Damian desperate to stake a claim on the skittish Fin. But it will take a ghost from Fin’s tragic past to show both men that what they have is worth more than money.
A Caribbean transplant, Avril now lives in Stone Mountain, GA., with a tolerant Spousal Equivalent. Together they raise an eccentric daughter who loves reading and school (not so much school anymore). Avril’s earliest memories of reading revolve around discussing plot points of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys with an equally book-minded mother
Always in love with the written word, Avril finally decided to do the writing in August of ’09 and never looked back. Spicy love scenes, delicious heroes, and wicked women burn up the pages of Avril’s stories, but there’ll always be a happy ending; Av remains a believer of love in all its forms.
Damian and Fin lived in two different universes; they were like night and day. Fin was stubborn and strong, full of independence, conviction, and ATTITUDE. He had issues and scared of all the differences but Damian wanted to explore those differences and to get to know him…
Told in dual POV, 3rd person, it can be read as a standalone. It’s angsty, a quick hot easy read and there is a 13 years age gap. A bit different with what I’d read by her before. There wasn’t any action and there was no trace of any gang or street fight. My only complaint is the lack of depth. Maybe it’s understandable, considering it’s a novella. Overall, it was an enjoyable read and hope you like it as well!
I'm so glad I found this book I couldn't have been happier to know Damian/Fin got their story. I'm kinda wondering why this book was not included in the (loose ends series) since this characters were introduced in the prequel. But nonetheless I'm happy I now know how they met and fell in love.
After Fin witnesses the murder of his family he runs away not wanting to face what he has to do. He struggles to take care of himself with odd jobs till he meets the rich Damian. He miss judges him and thinks his just another rich man who can buy him off. But soon he realizes Damian really cares for him.
I'm glad I read this book second since it helped me understand Fin's situation and why he would not trust his relationship with Damian. He did frustrate me a bit though because Damian was so amazing and patient with him. But once he open his heart and trust to Damian he was all in, loving and possessive of their relationship. And as lways with Avril Ashton's books so passionate and sensual. The chemistry between the MC always so dam sexy.❤️
Avril Ashton knows her stuff and is good at it. Bad boys, gang members, assassins, bikers...you name it. This is her area of expertise in my humble opinion.
Damian and Fin are good boys. I don't know if this is the reason, but this story didnt work all that well for me.
Damian and Fin are polar opposites. Damian is the rich CEO of the family business, while Fin is homeless, broke and currently unemployed. Their chance first meeting is filled with instant dislike but at the same time with unwanted attraction.
But this won't last long. Fin needs help and Damian decides he's the right man for the job. Honestly, things felt too rushed and too insta-lovey for my taste. And Damian's insistence on "saving" Fin all the time or being constantly in his face was almost too much. They didn't even know each other!
And Fin...Oh, man...One of the most immature characters ever! Most of the time he acts like a teenager, running hot and cold. One minute he pushes Damian away and the next he is all over him. When you give someone your room number in case he wants to stop by with food, it means you invite them, right? And when he eventually shows up, you don't start yelling at him because he came uninvited! Well...not Fin. For the life of me, I don't get what Damian saw in him.
As expected, the sex is off the charts. Damn, but that woman can write a sex scene... Very intense and so so dirty...
There is a "mystery-crime" subplot going on and a new character introduced. I'm very interested in reading Sullivan's story which is next. It seems closer to what I'm used from the author.
So, 2.75 stars rounded up for the delicious smut.

I wanted to read Keep Me Wanting in preparation to reading All These Hidden Scars, but Keep Me Wanting didn't work for me, pretty much at all. The relationship between Damien and Fin was too much, too fast, and the power dynamic was way too unequal. And, I guess there is a big part of me that is really tired of the rich older guy/poor younger guy trope. Money doesn't impress me. Thankfully, it doesn't impress Fin, either. The sex was hot, but it was hard for me to actually enjoy it because Damien was an overbearing, managing, know-it-all ass. And Fin had a chip on his shoulder the size of Alaska.
I have it on good authority, though, that this is not representative of Avril Ashton's writing. I am very happy to know that, because Keep Me Wanting didn't impress me, at all.
This was a sweet contemporary romance. Huh? Yup, that's right. AA did contemporary romance, with very little angst. Say what? Em-hmm and it was entertaining as all get out but it'd be disingenuous to say I didn't miss the angst. Happily, AA makes up for it with hawt, sexy-smexy scenes. Day-um but no one does sexy-smexy like AA.
Bottom line: I missed the angst but this was still worth the read. I was sad to reach the end and I always take it as a good sign when a book leaves me wanting for more. Bring it, AA!
3.75 stars bumped it to 4 just for the smutty times.
Okay we all know how I <3 Avril. Good Lordt that woman can write a sex scene. Oh my goodness. I would have rather this been straight smut then the contemporary story. Damian and Fin are extremely hot together. I think I need to reiterate that. I'm never bored with that aspect of her stories. For this one though, I kinda felt like we walked into the middle of this potential couple history. Automatically it was rudeness between the two. I just feel like we were missing the introduction between the two. It moved fast from that initial meeting. I do like the chemistry between the two alot. It was some sparks, and they were on fire. I mean Fin was a little spit fire from beginning to end. I like Damian, I kind of wanted to see more of him per say. We saw his family side, business side but nothing just Damian. I don't have to worry that the sexual side of the relationship is boring or dull. Goodness, I re-read a few this morning for scientific research purposes only. She writes those scenes extremely well. I needed to reiterate that. LOL. All in all I thought this was a cute contemporary novella. Mrs. A is never going to not have a little drama, or funk in her stories so we did get this. I can't wait for that little prequel whenever that's out. I see you Sullivan & Carter.
I liked this , but I didn’t love it. Fin and Damian were certainly great characters. I just felt that this was too short and things happened too fast. The sex scenes were hot, but that’s not enough to make up for the lack of giving the characters time to get where they were at the end.
Fuck! What a book! Loved Damian and Fin, loved their story.
Keep Me Wanting was a little like Pretty Woman... morphed into my very special, awesome, hot M/M world.
Of course Damian, the sexy billionaire, is much hotter than Richard Gere, and cute Fin, the trailer trash kid, is much cuter and more angry than Julia Roberts.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better Sullivan appears on the scene. Fuck! What a guy! Can't wait to read his story!
Ok. It was sweet. And the sex scenes are hot. But I feel like there's something missing here. I don't feel the sexual tension off the chart like the usual.
They're good guys. I loved them too. But I miss my bad guys!
I found this one a bit different from the usual MM RomCom and I really liked that difference.
Damian Archer is a typical Uptown Guy living in a Rich man’s world and Fin Thornton is the Downtown Man, really trying to scrape a living at any job he can get. He’s run away from his hometown in Ohio after a horrendous tragedy in his family.
Now he’s a waiting staff in the home of his employer, a High Society Woman who is a friend of Damian Archer. An incident occurs between Damian and his ex lover which Fin overhears. Damian accuses him of eavesdropping and they have a face-off situation. Fin doesn’t backdown from Mr. Uptown Guy.
Shortly after this face-off Damian overhears an argument between Fin and another waiter who is planning something that Fin wants no part of and tells the guy not to do anything.
Later that night at home, Sienna calls Damian wondering why he left the party early, and in the course of that call she tells him she had to call the police because the guy he had argued with had stolen some of her jewellery. He’d been fired and taken into custody.
Finishing the call abruptly Damian calls his driver and he heads downtown to the Precinct. Was Fin grateful to be ‘rescued’ by Damian, no way.
This is just another confrontation between these two men, but when Fin’s life is in danger from events in his past in Ohio, it is Damian who comes to his rescue yet again.
I’ve read some other reviews that say this is a sweet, contemporary romance. Say what? Maybe the ending was sweet, but there was nothing sweet about the clashing of wills between Fin and Damien. If anything, I was wondering how much Damien would take from the foul mouth ingrate before he threw his hands in the air and walked away from Fin. Of course, we don’t know right away why Fin is such a hard man to love, but when you do he is completely redeemed.
I guess for Avril Ashton this could be seen as a less angsty read, but I’m still putting angst in my tags. Being that I love a good angst-ridden book, this one was fit that bill. It wasn’t long and drawn out because Keep Me Wanting is a novella length story and things move quickly. I liked Damien, a lot. He was not your typical arrogant rich guy, even though he did come across that way at the beginning. If anything, both Fin and Damien have a depth to them that needs to slowly be unveiled, but once the truth is revealed you breathe a sigh of relief and move on.
I was happy to see that a prequel will be coming out soon, I look forward to reading about Sullivan and his tug of war between right and wrong, and dealing with the pain associated with a lawless twin.
Not as much gun toting and knife wielding going on in this book. Damien and Fin had a combustible beginning. Damien hated him on their first meeting but couldn't get him off his mind. Fin didn't trust Damien but was intrigued by him. Opposite do attract even though they don't want to.
I am loving this author's stories. Although the stories are about M/M romance, the stories are so intense and full of love and genuine emotions that you just get into the story being about love and romance.
This is Damian Archer and Fin Thornton's story which I enjoyed. This is an interracial story, the older wealthy man with younger homeless man. This story was not about law enforcement and criminals but about two people falling in love. The rest of their story is in All these Hidden Scars.
In order to get the full enjoyment out of all the stories I have gone back to the very beginning and I have started reading the stories order. The (Brooklyn Sinners) is the first series. In this series we meet a lot of the couples we go on to read more about in the other books.
I am just reading them back to back. Still enjoying them very much. Definitely worth a read.
This book is definitely different from Ashton’s usual line of badassery and I found that refreshing. Unexpected, but definitely nice. Not to say that this story is fluffy, because it’s far from that, but it’s a fun and sexy story that had me hoping for a happy ending for these two.
I liked Damian—even as a rich playboy. He’s big, bold, and confident and not without his own perceived issues. He’s not technically in the closet, but he’s not not in the closet either. Most of his issues were internal things—the closet/not closet situation and the lack of communication (which is understandable seeing as he doesn’t do relationships). For Fin, his conflict was more emotional. His past plays a big role in who he is, although we don’t discover the entire story and his end goal until very near the end of the book.
The story is really very good, although I found its quality a bit less than Ashton’s other works. Maybe it was the dialogue or the descriptions that got to me, but I found myself comparing this to other stories that I absolutely adored and found this one good, but not as spectacular as the rest. Another thing I didn’t like was the lack of conclusion to Fin’s storyline. We see what the guys are hoping to do, but not what is actually done, which leads me to believe that there may be another story, but I’m not sure.
I loved the Brooklyn Sinners series but the Run This Town series seemed too BDSM-heavy and dark for me so I had to give it a pass. I'm glad to be back reading this author because her writing always seems so fresh and real to me.
I enjoyed the dynamic between Fin and Damian. I loved their physical, cultural and personality differences. Damian was determined to help Fin whether Fin liked it or not. When Fin compared his circumstances to a Lifetime movie, I had to agree (and laugh).
Fin was going through some pretty heavy stuff, which caused him to run hot and cold with Damian. Fortunately, that didn't go on to the point of annoyance.
The only thing I didn't like about this book was the ending. It was abrupt and too HFNish. I hope that means that their story will continue. I want more.
This review would be sham if I failed to talk about how completely sexy this book is. The author definitely knows her way around writing a sex scene! The love was missing. I could tell they felt very strongly for each other but somehow, it didn't come out all that well. I wanted more of their relationship. Maybe the author should have explored the trial with this couple. I know she probably reserved it for the next installment, but unless she ties up this couple, this book will always feel unfinished. I also don't know how I felt about Fin. And Damian. I failed to fall in love with him. I liked him, but I didn't love him. All I can say is, it is a good story which I think had room for improvement.
From the minute Damian Archer met Fin, there was an immediate, highly sexual chemistry. Fin tried his best to dislike Damian, rich, powerful executive. Damian knew he was drawn to him and wanted to love and protect him.
This author has the flair of drawing you into the lives and personality of her characters; so much that you are willing to go to bat for them. This was no exception, and with a few surprises thrown in, you are in for a treat.
I'm so disappointed. Two books in a row by authors I typically love that just didn't work for me at all. In this one, I didn't like either MC, and I found myself not caring about their story. Their relationship started far too quickly, and they had the typical drama fight, and it was over all in about one page. Fin's traumatic past experience was completely unbelievable, and now that he's with Damian, he's ready to go home and face everything. I know this is fiction, but I can't believe after the tragedy he witnessed that he'd just suddenly be able to deal with his past.
Enjoyed this - just wanted to see the outcome. Finished so suddenly - did Finn testify ? Did Damien publically claim Finn ? What's next ? So many wonderings ... It was just heating up and I'm left hanging !
I enjoyed this story. I wasn’t sure what to think of Damian at first because he appeared so entitled and got whatever he wanted. While he did that that air about him still, he was totally stymied by his attraction to Fin and didn’t give up while he saw the attraction returned. At first it appeared a bit over the top and stalkerish, but I really did get the sense that if Fin told him no without really showing he wanted him too and not be scared of what they could have, Damian would’ve walked away. I’m glad they were able to work things out. They were great together. This had a nice story behind it that pleasantly surprised me. I would definitely like to know more about how it all worked out, and it’s possible that could happen in Sullivan’s book, but I’m not sure if this story is part of that book or not and that book sounds angsty as hell. Maybe I’ll give it a shot, but either way this was a good book.
I really enjoyed Fin and Damien's story. Compared to other Avril books its quite tame but I have just realised that this was really released in 2015 so her books have become darker since then. I was attracted to this because of the vast difference in business mogul Damian Archer and practically homeless Fin. The attraction between. them was instant although the story after was a bit cat and mouse chase/slow burn but it worked well and had me guessing about what had happened to Fin prior to meeting Damian. As with many books, I wanted more when I got to the end but was pleased that any questions I had were revealed in the opening chapters of All these Hidden Scars (the prequel book to Loose Ends).
Ok so Avril Ashton is good guys so good that I'm going to read each and all of her books. So Damien and fin are totally two different people ,while Damien I s all sweet and helpful fin doesn't want the help cause he thinks men like Damien always have an ulterior motive behind everything they do . Though it was all sweet and romantic and sex scenes were hot ,l kinda think Damien lacked the dominant vibe . Avril writes steamy scenes that involve dominant males and I kinda expected that but couldn't find it .but guys all in all the book was amazing no lie
Oh, I loved this. I can’t believe it took me so long to read it. Damian and Fin were everything. I loved how persistent Damian was. How hard Fin went when he was all in.
I loved the underlying drama of Fin’s life and how Damian just wanted to be the guy to support Fin.
Avril’s descriptions of their intimate moments were so full of feeling and passion. Her characters are living, breathing things that leap off the page. She never disappoints.
I got this book for free and boy am I glad for that. This is a MM Romance that loosely weaves a mediocre story between mediocre sex scenes. The writing leaves a lot to be desired. It's a fast read I think only 10 chapters. I struggled to finish it but pushed through hoping it would improve. It did not. If you look at it from afar there is a somewhat interesting story in there somewhere. Unfortunately it was poorly executed and leaves the reader wanting. 2/5 stars
Rich and advantaged pursues poor, broken and suffering.
They couldn’t be more different, one with all the benefits of massive wealth, the other with nothing, accused of crimes he didn’t commit, and a hatred for the ruling classes. A HEA seems improbable, but it helps that the sex is off the charts, and Damien can’t take no for an answer.
Loved this story! Damian wants Fin. Fin keeps fighting the attraction, but eventually gives in. Fin accuses Damian of being in the closet, but in truth Damian just doesn't publicize that he's gay. I liked how they were both willing to give and take, top or bottom. I wanted a bit more of a complete HEA. A profession of love, moving in together, a commitment.
Nothing special. The beginning is better than the rest of the story. Not much happens throughout and much is left hanging. When Fin was rejecting Damien, there was some excitement. Beyond that it becomes mundane and the same ol' song and dance of a standard romance. Blah...
