Stalker: A Romantic Suspense

Rate this book
So, it's done. It's official. I am now a prostitute.

If it's what separates a moral woman from a depraved one, then yes, money has changed hands. Or more like, money has passed from a grubby, hairy hand over to the smooth, polished surface of the hotel bed's nightstand. As odd as it may seem, it wasn't the actual sex that made me feel like I was selling my body to a stranger. It wasn't the sex that made me feel tainted, either. No. It was that swift deposit of the neatly stacked banknotes next to the half-finished, lipstick-stained glass of flat champagne that screamed "Wh*re!" at me.

It’s so much easier than I thought… Or at least it is until I meet the one client that is going to turn my whole life around. He threatens to ruin it for no obvious reason.

Who is he? Why is he there with every step I take, lurking in the shadows, always too close, always just a bit further than my grasp? And, above all, why is he haunting not only my every waking minute, but also my dreams?

This is a complete standalone novel with no cliffhanger, which contains adult themes.

Emma is a college student who turns to the sex trade to fund her education. It's easy money because she can make a lot in a short amount of time. She finds her clients on the internet and in the beginning she feels she can manage this safely. Until, she is targeted by a stalker, Chris. He knows her every move, where she lives and leaves her messages asking her to stop prostitution. Chris does everything possible to convince her.

Endearing characters kept me interested enough to finish. It felt rushed and Emma just seemed to go with the flow a little too much. I appreciated the author's approach to the subjects of prostitution and eating disorder. I would have loved to see just a little more intensity in the steam department. The end was great, and the way Chris supported Emma was so touching. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it.

Meh

This was not a great story. I actually hated the main character. She was such a spoiled brat. She has to prostitute because she spent the very hard earned money her parents sent her for tuition. She doesn't even remember on what. Maybe yoga pants and whatnot she thinks! Really??? She sure wasn't worthy of her supposed stalker. After she pays her tuition, that I thought was paid by a scholarship, but whatever, she just keeps on doing it with fat old men because she just has to pay almost $100 for another pair of yoga pants! Wth? Then she jumps into the fire seduced by a twisted madam because she's a greedy little girl who doesn't want to work a real embarrassing job like the townies! The DMV photographed her in an accident and she suddenly owes thousands for it in a couple weeks???? No doesn't work like that. She kept referring to it as having to pay her car insurance. If she had car insurance, they would have paid for the accident. The law would have arrested her for leaving the scene of an accident and her insurance rates would have increased. If for some reason she had none, she said Lee the other vehicles insurance company and would have been able to arrange affordable monthly payments. So much of this books story was based on b.s. facts.

I received a ARC from the author for an honest review. This is Emma's first book.

I really was looking forward to reading this book. It sounded really good and that there was going to be a lot of twists and turns with a lot of anticipation. It started off pretty good but then for me it just seemed to drag on and when I thought something really big was going to happen it never really did so I was left wanting more. I wish there was more of everything in this book. I liked the concept of the book and the fact it was written in the POV of the main character.

So sorry

But I couldn't give it more than one star the story was very dull and boring I skimmed over the majority. Also, why would you name your main character after yourself? That seems to be kind of taboo for authors not sure if I'm right or not but it should be. Anyways Emma is a college student that has gotten in over her head financially. She doesn't want to confess to her parents who scrounged up the money for her fees that she pissed away the money. So she does the only thing she could think of to make ends meet and that's become a prostitute. It becomes easier and she gets blindsided by the easy money causing Emma to make more poor choices. Her poor choices attract the attention of one guy in particular and Emma now has a stalker. Stalker guy tries to convince Emma to give up her bad decisions and go back to being the good girl she was before but Emma still needs money. Emma ends up abducted by some crazy woman who pimps out girls to pedophiles and other crazy men. Luckily for her, the crazy Stalker guy saves her once more and tells her his whole life story. She falls instalove with him they have a few quickies The end. It was very boring and the story did not interest me at all I'm sorry there is no way I could recommend this one.

Spoilers!

What’s it all about:

Emma has had a good time in college, that would be up until she blows through all the money her parents gave her to pay for tuition. Now she must come up with the money on her own, but what she doesn’t expect is to start selling her body to men. This wasn’t the first choice Emma had, but once she starts it just seems too easy to get the money she needs. It isn’t until she meets a client that just doesn’t seem to leave her alone that causes her to see what she is actually doing, but it doesn’t stop there. She has now stepped into another woman’s territory. Emma has to find a way out of the lifestyle she has create, but who can she trust?

The Worst Parts:

This story started off kind of weird. I didn’t know where it was going, and then got weirder. There is so much thrown to you all at once, but it isn’t explained at the same time. There are so many variables such as Emma selling herself, and then Chris, oh and let’s not forget Peach. It’s just so much at once that your head is spinning. I think if things had been paced out more it would have flowed better, but just people it was all over the place doesn’t mean that it wasn’t good.

The Best Parts:

I was very intrigued by Chris and wondered where his character would actually go, but was happy that he was just a shadow in Emma’s world. It was Emma’s choices that made for the novel, not Chris’, that was the difference in the stalking. I must say that I felt a total Stockholm syndrome thing going on, but yet it worked out really well since Chris saved her from the greater evil. The whole plot line with Peach was definitely an odd one that I just didn’t understand, until the end of course though. The whole chapter explaining Chris’ story helped things out a lot. I was able to understand why he did the things he did, and it totally opened up the chance for a sequel, which I am hoping for! I just find it odd that Emma was ok so fast with trusting Chris. I was hoping for more of a struggle or questions, but nothing. It made her look weak and like she needed Chris, but then again, she had secretly been relying on him for quite some time now.  Peach’s story is one that makes for a great plot to rely on since there are so many other girls there, and Emma wanting to go back in to save them; it opens up a whole new world.

Final Thoughts:

I liked this novel. It is a quick read and one that makes you want to know what is happening next. This novel will be available on Amazon October 19th, make sure to check it out, definitely worth the read.

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.

I'm not going to rehash the blurb. This book is pretty self-explanatory. It's about a prostitute and a stalker. The concept of this book is intriguing because I can't recall reading a similar plot. So kudos to Ms. Soule for not recycling a passé theme. However, after finishing this book, I feel like some key elements were missing. Here's why: it's narrated first-person by the female MC but her thought process was so convoluted that she just made me confused; her actions and reactions were so OTT and at times unrealistic; she described Chris in such a way that I had to guess his motives myself and figure out who he was (wish we could read his POV); she was naive to the point of being stupid; and the plot and epilogue were rushed.

There were so many ways I thought the story would go but it didn't get there. If those parts were fleshed out a bit more, this book would earn a higher star rating. It didn't really pick up until the hostage scene at the mansion. That's where Ms. Soule's writing shined exceptionally. That's where I got to see the greatness of this author. The details, issues, internal monologues, dialogues, and action all mad these parts amazing!! If the entire book drew these emotions from me I would have given a 5-star review.

For a first book, I think Emma Soule did very well. And based on what I've seen from this book, she will provide us with a lot of entertainment. This may be her first, but I hope to see more so it better not be the last.

This was a very interesting story. I will give the author props for turning this book into something I was not expecting at all. It was the first sentence that had me going and Emma did a great job pulling me in. Although I was confused once I started reading and a lot of things weren’t explained until way later, I couldn’t stop reading it. All the horrible choices Emma (the character) made, I wanted to scream at her. I couldn’t understand why she was so obsessed with money and why in the world she continued to put herself in these situations. It was frustrating to read how she had no self-regard for herself but then she gets a stalker. Chris threatens her, and tries to get her to stop. I actually thought that was a bit out of the normal for a stalker but then again I liked he didn’t want to hurt her and wanted her to be like she was before she started selling her body for money.
Don’t get me wrong this book is interesting and it does have suspense. I still don’t know how to feel about it after finishing. I’m mind blown, in shock really, at the way it ended. Or more of how things escalated the way they did. Like I said, this book is unexpected. I am glad I gave it a chance since it did keep me interested until the end. I had an idea about halfway through of how it would go and I was right. I would recommend this book for anyone who likes suspense and something different to read.

Ugh. I feel like this was one of those instances where you start the tv show 15 minutes into it and you wonder what happened in the first 15 minutes because you can't just seem to understand why the main character makes all the choices she does.

College student Emma turns to prostitution as a way to make money to pay off debt that she's accumulated through poor choices. After the 3rd or 4th trick she ends up in a situation with Chris, who doesn't want her for sex but wants her to get out of the prostitution thing, he scares her so badly that she gets herself into a worse situation. Chris seems to be a stalker, has gotten info about her somehow and attempts to blackmail her into quitting.

She is out of control emotionally, psychologically, academically, physically (she's got an eating disorder) and she's not very smart.

This is a ridiculous story, filled with plot holes and questionable behavior by ALL characters. It's wrapped up too quickly -- rushed, with more bad decisions and the epilogue -- argh. Awful. There was NOTHING ROMANTIC HERE AT ALL.

When Emma spends the money she has borrowed from her parents, she realizes that she has to find a way to make back that money, to pay her semester tuition. So she turns to the oldest profession out there, prostitution. It's easy money, so she thinks until she faced with a stalker, Chris, who is persistent that she quits and will do whatever it is, to make sure that happens.

For some reason, I just didn't connect at all with Emma. I believe maybe it was because she was so disconnected emotionally from the beginning. Most girls who are having sex with strangers would be devasted I would hope the first time, but it didn't seem to bother her the way it should. And Chris? What the hell? How can she be okay with some stalker casually visiting her parents? If that was my parents I would be telling them to get the hell away from the creep! But she was selfish, more concerned with her parents finding out that she is prostituting herself than she is in protecting her own parents.

This Emma Soule’s debut novel and all I can say is WOW!! I loved the story line and the character development. I couldn’t put the book down and finished it in one sitting. I loved the details and description about what Emma was going through and how she felt while it was happening and then when she heard Chris’s story and all that he had gone through and all that he had done for her. It was amazing. I went through the book hating and fearing Chris until hearing his story and then I loved him. I loved the dreams they were very descriptive and hot in a creepy way, how she liked them and how aroused she got when she was asleep and then how ashamed she felt when she woke up. I would definitely recommend this book. I can’t wait to read more books by Emma Soule. I received this free book in exchange for an honest review.

This story is full of suspense and will leave you wondering what will happen next. Emma has turned to selling her time and body to help pay her college bills that the scholarship will not cover. After she gets a few regulars, she is confronted by Chris who turns out to be stalking her. He has her wallet and cell phone so he knows more about her than he should. When Emma ends up with Peach, Chris will do all he can to save her. But can Emma trust him to save her and not hurt her in the end? Will she believe him when he tells her the truth? This is a great story and I loved it and a first for me from Emma Soule and I can't wait for more from her.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This book kept my interest from the very beginning. I wasn't expecting to sit down and read an entire book this morning, but the pages kept turning and I had to find out what was going to happen. There were so many twists and turns and the ending was not what I expected. From the moment we were introduced to Chris, I was sold. He was the perfect amount of sexy, alpha, caring, and mysterious. Emma was definitely naïve and immature, but watching her come to the realization that she needed to grow up was refreshing. This story is a quick read that will keep you on the edge of your seat and you won't be disappointed when the ride is over. 2 thumbs up!

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Emma is a college student who is struggling to come up with money for her semester and asking her parents is out of the question since they don't have it and she a,ready did and blew the money. She can only think of one thing and that is selling her body. She meets clients but it's bit until she meets Chris that she gets freaked out. But Emma now has to come up with money since getting into an accident and selling her body is the only way. But when she meets Peach another prostitute and shows her how she can make money but Chris is there to help her get far away as possible. It was a good story, I liked how Chris told his story. I will def. check out another book by Emma

I enjoyed this book despite the prostitution thing. Glad that three weeks was not explained in detail. I'm so thankful that my parents paid my way. I would hate to have been strapped for cash in college. I would have chosen a different path than Emma but it's nice that I didn't have to think about that. Maybe I'll get a second job so when my girls go to school they don't end up like Emma.:) She really was naive but weren't we all at some point in our lives. The stalking by Chris really didn't bother me maybe I had a secret wish of wanting someone to be obsessed with me. Idk. I'm actually hoping for more. Perhaps they end up finding the girl that helped or Chris confronts Peach about his past. Looking forward to more books.

One thing, just one thing....money. The need for it to survive and the fastest way to get it. One mistake leads to another and one man will not get out of the way. He has her phone her identification her cards. Everywhere she turns he's there. Then when she thinks she's found safety she finds it's even more dangerous than her stalker, or is it? How far are you willing to go to hide mistakes, make ends meet and make the grades to stay in college? Sometimes wrong decisions can lead to bigger stakes.
Will keep you hitched to the pages, heartbreak, action and the literal sense of fear but you will never see 'it' coming.

WOW..this book was full of crazy twists and turns..I really did enjoy reading it.
Emma is in college and she decides she needs to make some extra money being a call girl to help ends meet..she meets her Stalker Chris early on and he tries to get her to stop what she is doing..and this is where all the craziness starts..keeps you on the edge of ur seat reading to figure out what the heck is going to happen next. I gave the book 4 Stars..I felt like it was a little wordy or a little drawn out..but it was not a deal breaker for me. This is my first read from this author..I really liked her storyline and will love to read more by her on the future. =)

Interesting

This was... different. Not just different from your average romance novel, but it stands out in this sub-genre as well. There are none of the positive feelings you typically have for the characters; not just the stalker, but the main character as well. I'm not sure you could be any less intelligent than Emma and still be a functioning adult. But you still want her to figure it out. You have to stick it out until the very end and surprisingly, the author pulls off the promised HEA tastefully. I was pissed with everyone in this book for pretty much the entire read. Yet I didn't put it down. Maybe that says more about me, but I think that makes it worth it.

While the book was well written, it was difficult for me to relate with the female character. I didn’t think that naïve was her problem; she bordered to plain stupid and wanted to slap her silly for her continued poor choices.

As you can see from the strong feeling I get reading this book, the writer does a good job developing the characters (whether I like them or not).

I really liked Chris Story and how it converges with Emma.

As this is the authors first book I think she did pretty well. Emma is a college student who runs up debts and doesn't want her parents to bail her out and so turns to prostitution to pay her bills instead. Her stalker turns out to be Chris who tries to stop her doing this. The plots twists and turns and involves drugs and rape. The plot is ok but the story just didn't pull me in, I finished the book but didn't love it. Not enough dialogue between the main characters.

Dialogue. I needed more dialogue between the characters -specially Chris and Emma-. Did I enjoy the book? Yup, specially this myestry behind Chris, but it needed more of everything! I feel like it should have been longer, more details, dialogue and some charcter development. Specially Emma to stop being over the top naive, she got on my nerves sometimes!! When the book finished I was like what the hell? There has to be more!! Despite the heavy subject, it was a quick read for me, but still I can say that I liked it!

Overall all I liked this book. Great job for her debut book. I really liked the story and it kept me wondering what was going to happen. Emma turns prostitution to help pay for college. Chris (her stalker) doesn't like that idea and does everything he can to stop her. The story kept me interested but it did feel a little rushed towards the end. Can't wait to see what book she has next. I was given an ARC for a fair and honest review.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Emma is down on her luck in college and is in need of money of she wants to continue her schooling next year. She resorts to something she never thought she would even consider. What she doesn't know, is that someone is watching out for her in his own way.

Stalker is very different from other books I have read. It has many twists and turns that keep you needing to find out what will happen next.

Emma has a lot to learn when she decides to become a prostitute to help with her financial crisis, but she doesnt put in the fact that life as she knows it has sent her a saviour. Chris is a guy that you ask yourself in this book for the most part is he the good guy trying to be bad or is it the other way around I guess you will just have to read the book to find out.

Loved it! Emma needs money for college, so she tries the oldest profession. With easy money comes risk, she has picked up a stalker in Chris. As the novel unfolds, I found myself torn between being afraid for Emma and actually rooting for Chris.
