Marcy finds herself angry, frustrated, and confused because of nightmares that won’t stop. The love of her life gives her an ultimatum: seek help or lose him.
When held up at gunpoint during a robbery, Marcy is pushed over the edge. That night, she meets Liam, with whom she agrees to join on his quest to find those responsible for the murder of his family.
Delving further into the dark world of revenge, Marcy and Liam fall in love and instead of darkness, light envelops them. Hearts are torn, jealousy ensues, and more uncertainty arises.
After years of writing and editing for others, raising a family, and over twenty years of running her own businesses, Linda decided to tackle her first fiction novel entitled RAGE. After realizing it contained too many words, Linda turned the novel into a trilogy, which eventually stretched into a much longer series called THE MARCY SERIES.
When asked about inspiration, Linda has this to say: "Nobody inspired me to write, but I do remember my mother and father always saying 'anything you put your mind to you can accomplish. Don't ever let anyone tell you, you can't do something.' Having the support of my husband and children is very important. Having my youngest daughter, who is a writer and editor as well, to offer advice, has helped me stay focused and continue to write."
Linda hopes to have the entire MARCY SERIES (Books 1-13) available as soon as possible. The first through the eighth book in the series are published and available for purchase on Amazon, Barnes and Noble online, Smashwords. Book Nine is available on Amazon only.
Linda’s hoping the last five books in the series will be available toward the beginning of 2020.
Linda has also completed two other standalone title novels, The Colors of My Life, and Murder Among Friends which are available at the same locations above. An anthology with four other authors is available on Amazon. The anthology is called, Where There’s Murder, There’s Mystery. Linda’s short story contribution is called, Lies Aren’t Forever.
A great read about anger. Marcy has been struggling at life with constant nightmares filling her dreams. This sleep deprivation makes her aggravated and his anger invades her life, making her explode over the smallest things. When her boyfriend leaves her over it, she gets even more angry.. One night when trying to get some petrol, she is held at gunpoint and her anger full explodes. Afterwards, she meets Liam, a man on a quest for revenge. Following on this quest for revenge, Marcy uses her anger to help him find the answers. But along the way she discovers love and feelings. Can anger truly solve all your problems? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Brad trying to be supportive but having a breaking point or Jill wise and kind but also funny and caring. Great cast of supporting characters like the charming Rita or the chatty Sal. However, I felt that Marcy was too angry to be likeable. I felt this anger was too melodramatic, as sleep deprivation and nightmares only make you so grumpy and not to that extent. If this was toned down, it would be more believable and relatable. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the coffee shop full of life and people and colourful décor comforting and welcoming with its smells of coffee and tastes of lemon meringue pie so strong its as if you're actually there. Or the sense of the busy city with its traffic fullof noise and people. I also liked the contrast from the bright yellows of the past and the grey rains and blacks of the present to indicate her mood changes wonderfully written. The flashbacks worked well to display how things have changed and didn't disrupt too much from the narrative of the present. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.
This story was very slow in the beginning, but was important to pay attention to it. I found myself rereading some of the first chapters. Marcy is living the American dream she has a house and her own business. She has a lot of anger issues. So bad that through her boyfriend/fiance she was asked to go to a therapist. She was reluctant at first but she continued and found out more than she realized.
This is my first book by Linda Burson and it will not be my last. She has so much going on that you do not want to put the book down. She has a way to intertwine the characters. One starts to think that she is going to be going down this path and then something else happens to make you asking where did this come from. It is a great read and I cannot wait to see what Marcy is going to do next.
Rage (The Marcy Series #1) by Linda Burson was an exciting heart pounding read that had me hooked from start to finish.
The first book in this crazy, outstanding series (I've been reading them a little out of order), and I'm so happy to have finally gotten to read the book where it all started. Detailed, and full of twist, turns, misdirects, this book was sometime to behold. I very much had a time reading this book, and I'm mad at myself for not reading it sooner. To backtrack and to witness were Marcy started, was wow, it was a real wow moment for me. This book is a must read for everyone that's looking for an original fresh read that will teas your mind, and have you going, What just happened?
This book, this series, gets my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval.
The first half of the book was an awesome 5 out of 5 stars, and it started out with so much potential.
However, I thought the author was going in one direction but I was thrown a curveball when I reached the 2nd half of the book. To to be honest, the 2nd half of the book disappointed me tremendously. The main thing I disliked are all the bedroom scenes - they were just way too prevalent - I can deal with some of it but I found myself rolling my eyes (kind of like geez!, again?, seriously?!?!) and actually cringing at times, and that is never a good thing.
Marcy as a character was interesting, she owns a bakery and can also kick ass with her karate. She also may be the most impetuous fictional character I've ever read about, and she made choices that made no sense to me, but that is okay. She might be described as a "hot mess".
The ending of the book was a let down for me. While Marcy was able to resolve some things, I found myself not really caring if she continues one particular relationship because that storyline was too loosely threaded into the story for me as a reader to want to continue reading about it.
I know this sounds like a lot of negative, but Rage does have a compelling psychological competent to it, and Marcy is an interesting character. I'll continue with the series because I am hopeful the potential I saw comes from into fruition. The author does have something good here.
Given the SELFISH option of either seeking professional help for her repeated haunting nightmares, or be carelessly abandoned by her lover; Marcy is torn between what to do. This thrilling, action-packed romance, has just the right amount of mystery to keep you guessing time, and time again.
Action peaks within the books pages when Marcy is held up by gunpoint and is forced to unleash her true nature. This tale of lover's conflicting jealousy, and a woman's struggle to dampen her emotions will leave you reeling for more! Marcy, unknowingly finds herself with a potential love interest- Liam and decides to aid in the plight to find his families murderer. Through all of the negativity surrounding the new couple, the pair are able to eventually find love. Meaningful love that Marcy had never experienced before. But, will they be able to maintain a balance to pursue a future together?
I really enjoyed this promising story! It was well written, and like many others have stated, I could not put it down! I will definitely be purchasing the next book "Confusion" for my reading pleasure, and recommend that you do too.
This debut has the perfect mix of romance and thrill! I bought it from the publisher last week, and as soon as it arrived, I read it nonstop. Each chapter has new surprises and the end will leave you shocked and desperate for book two. The tag line perfectly sums up this novel: "unanswered questions loom, rage ensues, and love divides." I feel personally connected to the characters in RAGE. They are real and flawed--there were some moments where I couldn't stand Marcy or Brad--but they also have charm, and the realistic characters (plus the sexy and shocking plot!) make this book great!
The writing is clear and simple, so the pages fly by. At times the narrative and dialogue seem a bit unnatural, for example, the characters speak in a way that is slightly elevated and more formal than you would expect during regular conversations. This is definitely a plot driven narrative, however, and although the writing style isn't always perfect, it won't bother you too much since you will not be able to help yourself from wondering what crazy plot twist is next.
Rage is the first instalment of The Marcy series by Linda Burson. After reading The Colors of My Life, I knew I would be reading more of Ms. Burson’s work- so when I saw this I just had to read it. This book is nothing like I expected. It has so much going on in it, I was trying to figure out where the author was taking the story, but then she would throw in a twist and had me guessing all over again. Life was going really well for Marcy- right up until the nightmares begin to erode the life she had built for herself. These nightmares are so intense and horrible, that they interfere with her sleep, make her anxious, unpredictable, and impacts on her day to day life. Her lack of sleep gets to a critical point, when her fiancé demands that she do something about it, get some help- or he was leaving her. This pushes Marcy right to the edge, where rage consumes every molecule of her being. Then one night, Marcy happens to be at a gas station on the way home when a gunman tries robbing the store and her. All her rage erupts, and she ends up taking the gunman down. This brings her to the attention of Liam, who has an agenda of his own, and thinks Marcy would be perfect to help him in his quest. This sets them both on a path that neither expected. Another great story from Ms. Burson. This romantic suspense is well written with action, drama, some mystery and excitement. I’m looking forward to the next book!
What an absolutely fantastic read!! This book is slightly longer than most of the books I read so thought would take longer to read but it was that gripping I finished it in two days. Filled with suspense, romance and murder this book is a must read. The only negative point I found was the layout and that the page numbers and the title were half way through sentences. This may just be the way it came in my kindle and after changing my kindle settings it wasn't too bad. A thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read. Looking forward to reading more from this highly talented author xx
Plagued by horrible nightmares, Marcy is a force to be reckoned with. She is fueled by anger and tension: taking it out on those closet to her and even strangers. I immediately felt connected to this character, seeing myself in her easily agitated behavior. The fact that Marcy can't see the severity of her actions, made this reader re-think my own anger-fueled words and actions from the past. There is a major development in the plot, within the first 5 chapters, that exposes Marcy's rage as a weapon, instead of a life-ruining handicap. We soon meet a mysterious man, Liam, who brings Marcy into a whole new world, turning the world she once knew even deeper into Chaos.
There is a beautiful and passionate romance between Marcy and Brad that kept me on my toes. The arguing between them showed just how much they try care for each other. You can feel the tension and love and lust. Marcy's employees and friends play a huge part in her life, and are the perfect supporting characters for her. Each person is written in a very believable fashion, to the point that this reader was pulled very deep into the story. All in all, without giving too much away, I give this book a great big thumbs up, and suggest Rage to anyone looking for a romantic, mysterious, and mind-thrilling adventure.
Fast-paced romantic suspense - what is the cause of Marcy's all-encompassing rage? And how will she navigate her feelings about the events of her past while being tempted by two different men: her fiancé, Brad, and mysterious stranger Liam? If you like romance with a dash of danger, you'll like Rage. I'll be honest, I'm not a big reader of romantic suspense in general, but if you like the genre you should like Rage!
Oh boy, where to start? Marcy has it all until it all starts to crumble. Nightmares start causing anxiety and bouts of rage. She starts to push her friends and family away. She meets Liam. He wants help with a project. This book leaves us on a cliffhanger with no resolution. Hopefully the next book is little smoother. I enjoyed the story but the long winded recollections (?) distracted me a few times.
This book grabbed me from the first page...and that's not easy to do for a reader like myself. I was curious from the start, wondering what in the world is going on with the main character Marcy. Linda Burson does a phenomenal job at conveying the emotion of all characters portrayed, but mainly the love between Marcy and her main love interest Bradley, who I absolutely adored even when he was making even me upset. I don't want to give too much away, but let me just say this, I didn't see Liam coming or what he brings to the book. I'm ready to read the second one now. I just want to know what happens!
Rage (The Marcy Series Book 1) By: Linda Burson 5 out of 5 stars
The story Rage (The Marcy Series Book 1) by Linda Burson is a book that I enjoyed reading. It is a story that draws you in and didn’t let me go until I have read the final page. It is a book that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Marcy and Liam. Marcy is an intelligent, beautiful, and feisty woman. She runs a business and some of those who work with her are more like family than employees. The love of her life has given her an ultimatum to seek help for her anger, frustrations because of nightmares that she is having. She also is a woman who finds herself falling in love with Liam. Liam is a man who is on a quest to find those responsible for his family’s murder and finds an ally in Marcy. Liam’s character is mysterious and as the story unfolds I found myself with many questions about him. Marcy is conflicted and at times overwhelmed. Read this story for an emotional rollercoaster that will have you turning pages wondering what will happen next. There are other characters that are introduced in this story and many of them I enjoyed reading about and their interactions with Marcy. There is intense dialogue. I grew to care about Marcy and there are situations in which I could empathize with her and what she experiences. This is a wonderful book to read and one that will keep you reading far into the night to find out what happens. Recommended reading.

This is the first book in the Marcy series by Linda Burson. Marcy Jenson is a successful small business owner. She owns a small bakery in Cold Spring Harbor. Marcy has a small group of close friends that are more like family than just friends. She also has been dating the man of her dreams for more than two years. Lately though, Marcy has not been acting like herself. She has been yelling and showing more hostility toward customers, her employees, and even Brad. Bradley Preston is the love of Marcy’s life. Brad is a successful president of a company in New York City. Marcy and Brad only see each other on weekends most of the time. Sometimes Brad comes to Cold Spring Harbor to see Marcy during the week. During the last few months that Marcy has been acting so out of character, they have started spending less and less time together. Marcy finds herself in the middle of a store robbery, and then finds herself face to face with Liam. He wants Marcy to help him with a project he’s been working on for years. Liam picks Marcy because of all the rage he’s seen in her. This is the first book by Linda Burson I have read and cannot wait to read the rest in this series and more books from her. It was an enjoyable book that is full of love for friends that feel more like family. Rage has suspense, I can’t wait to see how things turn out between Marcy, Brad, and Liam.
This is an interesting story. I felt like I was waiting for the other shoe to drop the entire time I was reading this book. The plot is a good one with the main character Marcy experiencing some unexplained nightmares and rage. Her boyfriend Brad tries to make her understand that people are beginning to fear her. This just makes her angrier. Brad is by no means perfect and has his own problems. This couple gets engaged but sadly it doesn’t last long when they discover they have major problems to work out. Because Marcy didn’t have enough going on in her crazy life she meets Liam.
I enjoyed this story because I experienced a range of emotions with the characters from their experiences. A little rage myself at the hospital scene. I have found that Brad tends to bring out my worst feelings. However, when Marcy meets Liam, that relationship brings out my swoony type feelings. (Although I think they are rushing things.)
I did not think that Marcy’s rage was all that out of control. Although when she learned to control it she seemed to be able to rather quickly. I think there could have been more situations where she was out of control. There were situations where she should have been out of control but she was rather passive. Marcy is a very likeable character and I cannot wait to see how and when Burson gives Marcy a happily ever after.
Rage by Linda Burson is the first book in her new Marcy Series, and it completely blew me away. This series centers, so far, around Marcy and her nightmares. These nightmares have gotten so bad that they are beginning to unravel her life. Things have gotten so bad that her boyfriend has said its either help or me, which made me really not like him from the get go. Getting mugged may have been the best thing that could have happened to Marcy as it changed the entire direction of her life. That same night she met Liam, who is out for revenge and is willing to take Marcy along for the ride. Love, heartache, and pain all ensue in this book in the perfect mix of romance and suspense. This is the first book by Burson that I have had the pleasure to read, and I am so happy that I picked this book up. I can’t wait until the second book comes out so I can follow these characters again. I was captivated with this book from page one to the last word. While the dialogue between the characters was a bit more formal than I would expect in these situations, it worked well with the writing style and while this book was rather long it flew by for me. There is a bit of a cliff hanger, so I am trying to wait patiently for book 2 and it can’t get here soon enough.
Rage (The Marcy series Book 1 ) by Linda Burson is the first book in The Marcy series. This is my first book by this author and I will definitely be reading more. This is a suspenseful romance story. It took me a a minute to get into this book but once I did I had a hard time putting it down I wanted to know how things were going. This story is mainly focusing on the main character but there's also a lesson in this story. We can make our own choices but those choices sometimes have consequences for those choices. This story is about Marcy's life and how she finds herself in a situation where she's frustrated and very angry yet faced with a choice.Marcy is having nightmares that's causing her grief,so she has a decision to make, get help,or lose her love. Can one night change everything? There are some twists and turns and some suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what happens next. What happens when she finds herself falling for another man? Will jealousy show its ugly head? Rage by Linda Burson is a smashing beginning to her Marcy Series … What a debut book that is a mix of romance and thrill and I promise you the end will leave you reaching for the next instalment! You will fall in love with the writer’s simple and clear writing that will pull you in from the beginning! What an imagine coming up with the plot that will keep giving … for FIVE books! Rage (and the Marcy series) is the story of Marcy and Brad and ….Liam … Marcy’s life has been going pretty swell, she has a successful bakery BUT suddenly she is plagued by nightmares that are so intense and obviously interfere with her sleep and making her anxious and simply impacting her daily life! She is filled with …. RAGE … and it is pushing her to the edge and over it … she blows up when she happens onto a gas station robbery …. And things take a twisted turn from there … she catches the attention of Liam who takes her (willingly) down a dark path … and let’s not forget about Brad … the passion and tension and love and lust they share … The twists and turns and the human nature, oh what a tale the writer spins! I am ready for the next book … I wonder what path the writer is taking us down … (or maybe it is a tunnel … )
Rage by Linda Burson is the first book in The Marcy Series and it’s certainly one interesting read. There is never a dull moment as its action packed with murder, love, new connections, and new understandings. This book was nothing like I was expecting, there was so much more to it than what I had originally thought. I will admit I found it hard to get into in the beginning as it was a bit confusing and I found the interactions between the characters to be really formal and not as real but as I continued to read I became more and more invested.
There were lots of twists and turns that kept me on my toes, I was constantly trying to predict the outcome, yet time and time again I was wrong and left with so many questions. Marcy was certainly a complex character, she’s angry, aggressive, troubled, and sometimes clueless. Her character really developed throughout this story, and while I didn’t agree with most of her actions she was a fun character to read about.
I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series so I can see the story through to the end and to get answers to all my questions.
Rage (The Macy Series book 1) by Linda Burson 4 Stars!!!!
I am so in a bad habit of reading books out of order in series and this one was no different. I have to admit that I still found things to be easy to follow. This is the first book in the series and I feel that it was a good chance to better get to grips with what I have already read of the series and a way to get a little more insight.
I really felt for Macy and I really was grateful for the chance to really get to understand and see what happened in her past and what brought her to be the Macy that I had read about. I really liked the opportunity to see how her and Brad began and what events really shaped what was to happen between them and how their relationship evolved. I also was grateful to help put the timeline together of how Liam entered her life and also watch that relationship evolve. The author really did a great unique job of setting the series off and I am glad that I am able to put a few pieces of the missing puzzle in the series together and really cannot wait to read more from this author.
I give 5 stars to Rage (The Marcy series book 1) written by Linda Burson.
This is a first for me from this author and a brilliant late night read did think it would last longer but couldn't put the book down once I started it just gripped me with all the suspense and murder, I just needed to know how it would end. Utterly brilliant thriller romance novel.
Marcy can't seem to stop the nightmares from coming every night with them and lack of sleep she has become angry, confused, to the point her partner has to give her a ultimatum, get help of he leaves.
Then as she is held at gunpoint one night its the cherry on the top and pushes her over the edge, then she meets a handsome stranger and ends up being pulled into helping him get revenge on the people that killed his family.
Both being so lost on their dark souls they are pulled further deeper, but when light starts to shine through, they both have to deal with more issues that has arisen and heartbreak.
Rage (The Marcy Series #1) By Linda Burson 4 stars
I have read this series out of order but even so I have thoroughly enjoyed the books that I have read however it was really nice to see where the story of Marcy started! Again as with the other books I have read by Ms Burson it was full of action and kept my interest from beginning to end. It was really interesting to see how the author has improved over the books, not that this one was bad, far from it, but you could see how her writing had moved on with each story. I really like Marcy she is such a great character to read about. She is quite a complex character that you really do have to get to know and understand. As I expected there were some great twists and turns and even though I have read later books in the series there were still some things that surprised me!! I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.
Just too good to put down! Rage by Linda Burson is the first book in this series. Murder, mystery, romance….this book has it all. This book had me on the edge of my seat since the first page, always making me wonder what is going to happen next and making me conflicted over the two men in Marcy’s life Brad and Liam. Does she stick with her faithful fiance or take on an adventure with Liam, you will have to read to find out. The characters were richly written making you feel like you are part of the story and I could picture the scenes in my head. Just when I started thinking I knew what was going to happen next Ms. Burson threw me through a loop. At the end of the book I didn’t have any resolution to her story, so I definitely can’t wait to read the next book. Rage was a great introduction to Linda Burson.
Rage is the first novel in the Marcy series by Linda Burson. This my second novel by this author.
While I have read the third novel, it was nice to go to the beginning of the journey.
Marcy is having nightmares and her boyfriend gives her an ultimatum: either seek help or he’s leaving.
What happens when Marcy meets Liam could possibly find love with him?
This story did start up a little slow, so it took me a minute to get into the novel but once I did, I couldn’t put the book down. I had all this questions. Why is March having nightmares? Why would her lover leave her if she doesn’t get help? Shouldn’t he be supportive? Is there more to Marcy that will learn?
So many questions as I continued to read!
I am glad I started from the beginning because I definitely want to catch up and understand where the story had taken these characters.

Rage by Linda Burson is book one of The Marcy Series. This book is a suspenseful romance book.
Marcy has been suffering from nightmares and no matter what she does, they don’t stop. Marcy is presented an ultimatum- get help or be left by the person that should love her enough to stay. After a series of events, Marcy meets Liam and much to her surprise, realizes she may be falling in love with him. These feelings put Marcy in a tough spot and jealousy and uncertainty ensue.
This book was enjoyable to read. It didn’t feel predictable and I waited to see what would happen. I absolutely recommend this book!
Rage is the first book in the Marcy series by Linda Burson and there is a whole lot going on in this story, twist and turns at every step of the way. Just when you thought you knew what was happening BAM you were thrown for a loop. This is a romantic thriller full of action and drama, suspense and a whole lot of mystery and murder.
Marcy is plagued by horrible nightmares and rage and she doesn’t know why. Realising things are not as they seem Marcy knows she needs help. But when that helps comes Marcy finds herself in a fight for her own sanity and a path that she never expected.
If you like romances with a bit of danger, and suspense then this is one you should read.
Wow this was a thrilling and edgy ride to be a part of. Amazing writing and characters. There is nightmares, murder, love interests, romance (and a sexy romance at that), intrique and so much more in this story. The writing makes me feel as if I was a part of this story with the characters. I felt as if I was in their lives and seeing it as it was happening. I love when a writer makes me feel like that. Linda did an amazing job with this first story in this series and I can't wait to see what happens next
