Truth In Lies #3

Tell Me Something True

Rate this book
Tell Me Something True is the third book in the Truth In Lies series and cannot be read as a standalone. Please read This Much Is True and The Truth About Air & Water, books 1 and 2 in the Truth In Lies Series, first.

TELL ME SOMETHING TRUE
The star ballerina finally marries the major league baseball player and the truth about Linc and Tally—his being her air and she being his water—becomes clear after the couple finally realize that their love is all that matters.

But that was the first day. The day they said, “I do." The day the demons seemed to leave them alone, at least, for a little while.
Nevertheless, there were other days, when all the lies of the past and their ways of coping with their fears caught up to them.

And, this is that story.

"If you believe in fairy tales and happy endings,
and you want to stop right here and bask in the wonderment and joy of it all, please do.
If you want to know the rest of our story,
you need to take a deep breath
and tell yourself that everything will be okay,
that everything works out,
and life happens,
and in the end
love is all you need.
Someone has to tell you these things,
just like someone had to tell me.
All I know is that the truth never dies,
and it does set you free, whether you want it to or not.
And in the end? All you have is love.
Love is all there is."
~ Talia Landon Presley

As I said at the end of my review for the second book, The Truth About Air & Water, be prepared to have your heart trampled...this is one heart wrenching ride!

Fortunately, things are great for Linc and Tally...for a while. As we've come to know with this couple, the good times don't last. And I was a little upset with some of the things that happened. I felt it was too much...who could survive all that? It was devastating and it affected how I viewed Linc of all people. I started not liking him very much and especially after a certain event. Don't get me wrong, I understand it and that emotional junkie part of me was thrilled with the forbidden part but...I pretty much hated Linc for it.

And don't think Tally is off the hook either. It was frustrating that these two were still doing the same screwed up things they've always done. Lying, not communicating and hiding things from each other are just a few problems between the two of them.

description

Luckily, Tally does get some help and Jane was hilarious! (She definitely needs a book.) But I missed Marla and Rob, well, he just needs to go!

The last part of the book was the best....thank goodness for some progress. And I liked how families came together...that was really sweet.

Overall, the emotional junkie in me LOVED all the angst and drama but the reader in me had some issues. The stories are long, especially book 1 (432 pages) and book 3 (428 pages) and I felt like there was just too much drama not to mention the things that just didn't add up! There's only so much your heart can take! And there are errors...even the same sentences sometimes and left out words that disrupts the flow. It's a long, hard road to reach that HEA and it really feels like just a mirage in the desert...unattainable and far reaching. But, but I sooo totally recommend it if you love these epic type of love stories!

~Arc provided by Netgalley in exchange for honest review.~

That feeling when you are writing a review about one of your favorite new adult series...and it's a negative one. *sad sigh* That's why I'll keep it short. First of all I want to say that I pretty much devoured the first two books of Truth In Lies series, but unfortunately I did not like this one at all.

The reasons for my rating:
1. the never ending melodrama and overload of angst
2. cheesy content
3. disappointing behavior of the MCs

The only thing I liked about this book is the writing style, but as far as I've seen and read the reviews of other fans of the series I'm definitely in the minority, so as always- the only way to form your own opinion is to read the books yourself.

Lord! I didn't think things could possibly get worse for Linc and Tally, but Katherine Owen proved me wrong. In the worst way.

The third book in the Truth in Lies series was a test of emotional grit for me. Linc and Tally have never had anything easy in their relationship. Their demons, the emotional barriers they put up and the other people they let in between them often derail their faith in each other and their relationship more times than they don't. I thought with their wedding at the ending of book 2, maybe they'd finally get their act together. WRONG! They're forced to deal with the ultimate test of their relationship and, at times, fail miserably. As their relationship is ripped through the ringer, we're right there with them. I spent a lot of time wanting to slap or hug Tally and/or Linc. And I truly wondered if they were ever going to figure out how to balance their important careers with their equally important family life. But in the ugliest fashion ever, this couple proved why I've re-read the first two books twice in the last few months. Despite how emotionally stunted both of them are, they are a couple who are worth it. Worth the love they have for each other, if they could only both learn to love themselves and accept each others faults. We finally get that with this book and when I got to "The End" I truly believed this couple would have their happily ever after.

TELL ME SOMETHING TRUE is a tough, tough read. Katherine Owen rips readers through an emotional roller coaster of lies, devastation, and the fortitude to believe love will conquer all.

Book Hangover Alert!!

This book is not a standalone. You must read the first two book, in case you did not know. The amazing This Much Is True and The Truth About Air And Water!

I'm a reader not a writer. My reviews are usually short and sweet. I've actually had to take a few days before I could write this review.

I know this author. I have read all her books. I know what she is capable of doing to me when I read her books. So it is no surprise she did it again. Angst, frustration and ugly crying .

I love Linc and Tally! I have rooted for them and cried with them. Katherine Owen doesn't just write or take the easy way out. She takes you on a journey.

I,like many others, asked her to continue this journey. So why, when she gives it to us, am I surprised! Nothing on their journey to be together is easy. Just because they get married and you want their HEA is a guarantee that the road to that happiness is easy. Their careers and lack of trust in themselves and each other continue to plague them. I find myself getting so aggravated with them. You want to yell at them! They are human to me, they screw up a lot! Yet, they love and they learn and they pay a heavy price for that love. Love they do, though.

They are each other's elements (book 2!) And they needed to remember that. People in your life can be stupid and mess up but you them and you don't abandon them. That's how I felt about Linc and Tally. I want their, journey to continue but I am not sure my heart could take it!

The only reason this is not a 5 star review is because of things that happened in their story that played as a constant that I felt took away a bit from the story. I hesitate in writing this because I love this author and these characters and I want you to read this book!!!

In the end, it doesn't matter what I want for Linc and Tally because Katherine Owen stayed true to herself and these characters. This is why I LOVE her writing so much!

Make the investment in your time and, money. READ THIS SERIES!!!

This is the longest review I have ever written! Phew!!!!

The first two books were almost too angsty for me, but I liked them to a certain degree. This book, however, ruined the entire trilogy. A big fat NOPE for me.

He messed around and cheated with the same ow from the other books. After sleeping with her - in their marital bed, on every surface, every which way - ow leaves and crashes into heroines car. This kills their daughter and unborn son. When h finds out she's angry and asks him if she's attractive now that she is dead, the idiot then tells her to have a little compassion for the ow.

Are u kidding me???????????

Why does this book has such a high rating?? It sucked!

Wow. This book was unbelievable. There are so many words to describe it, like heartbreaking, happy, sexy, depressing, traumatic and the list goes on and on. Katherine did an amazing job with Tally and Linc, I thought their story couldn't get any better or any worse, boy was I wrong. I loved the addition of Jane and Marston, I need a Jane in my life. Be ready to not be able to put this one down, it will challenge you at times wondering should I continue, I asked myself that cause I was sooo mad at what was happening, continue though, there's so much more to find out. Loved, loved, loved this series.

Exhausting! So much happens in this series that it is just plain exhausting. I think the only thing that didn't happen to Linc and Tally was a tsunami on a Thai vacation, but I can't be sure as there are three very long books in this series. This series is best summed up in two questions Tally asks a Psychologist, "Do you think its possible to be so afraid of being happy that you actually sabotage your own happiness? You go out of your way to fuck everything up because you cannot deal with the idea of being so happy knowing what it feels like on the other side?" This series is 80% Tally being the destructor and 20% Linc making really BAD decisions. Enjoyable series, but long.

What can I say? Beautifully written, gut wrenching and painful at times and amazing! Just as in real life there are tragedies and difficult times we all face, the truth is there is one constant: LOVE. So exquisitely captured by this book and this amazing author.

I don't even know where to start with this review....

This series is EPIC!!! I have cried like a baby in public, in private, during happy parts, and sad parts. Linc and Tally's story is just that EPIC!!! "The truth about us - about his being my air and me being his water - was clear enough when we both finally admitted to each other that love - our love - was the only thing that mattered." JUST EPIC!!!

Katherine Owen takes her readers on a seriously emotional rollercoaster ride with this series and this last book pulls NO punches when it comes to emotions!! A word of warning that much of it probably should not be read in public if you get emotionally connected with your fictional characters because you will feel EVERY emotion Linc and Tally endure throughout this entire series! I loved it, I loved them, and I will miss them so! I cried when it ended and as I write this review, I'll probably cry when I video the review of the series too, so be full warned!! I am emotionally connected to these characters as if they were real because that is how beautifully written they are written. Thiers is just a story you have to experience if you truly enjoy a realistic love story!!

Crazy roller coaster ride of emotions...that is what this book took me on. I have never felt such love/hate for characters as do in this book. Tally and Linc drove me bat shit crazy at one moment, then the next I want to smack the ever living crap from them and then to top it off I was their biggest cheerleader. That is what this book does to you.

This story is beautifully written and told. I felt so much from these pages. From one page to the next I was wanting it all to stop but yet praying it would just continue.

Tally and Linc's story is a brutal one. There is so much pain, anger, loss and yet there is some hope. I won't lie...there is cheating involved and I don't condone it in any way but reading this book and everything around it cheating becomes a background item.

I am so glad that Tally and Linc got what they deserved and what they worked so hard for.

Great job Katherine!!

Tell me something true

5 stars just isn't enough, Katherine Owen you blow me away with the depth of emotion that is captured through out this book, life is hard ..... what does not kills us makes us stronger but only if we forgive our self our sins, love is what binds us but can blind us.
Life is living and making mistakes and learning to love our self and each other and growing as individuals and growing together as a couple, emotions are hard to deal with, love, life , loss, laughter and acceptance is probably the hardest of them all.
This is Tally this is Lincoln and this there story and by God I don't think there is anyone who will not relate to some part of there story.
Life is never easy, sometime you just need to breath ......

4 "LOVE IS A CONSTANT" stars!

Holy hell did this series just strangle my heart; I could not believe everything Linc and Tally went through. Just when you think it can't get any worse....it does and in the worst possible way ever and it shredded my heart! I am happy with the conclusion of this story but what you go through to get there is so utterly painful at times I didn't want to continue but so glad I did!

Damn! Damn! Damn! The third book in the "Truth In Lies" series had me on the edge of my seat almost the whole time. Just when I thought my beloved Tally and Linc were going to get a break, WHAM they were crashing into yet another collision course. Tally and Linc have the ultimate love story. It is all about the "REAL" in this love story. There are NO happily ever afters. No sweet kisses. No prince charming to come and save the day. There is just Tally and Linc begging the universe to not mess with them yet again.....

Katherine Owen is not your average writer. She has earned the title I now give her of my all time favorite author through many books, characters and stories. Her stories all have one fundamental truth in them. They are real. Her characters are all flawed, usually severely so. They make mistakes. Big ones. They tell lies. The way they are written sets the reader up for emotions they have never felt before. However, you might just find yourself realizing that these characters are some of the realest ones you've ever read about. This last book in "Truth In Lies" is no different and in fact it might be worse. It is a tough read. But a read that is WELL WORTH the time and energy it takes to get through. There is NO relationship you've ever read like Linc and Tally's. These characters could not be more real to me. In fact, I dare you to find a book with more passion between two characters. There are NONE. These characters are originals. You will walk away from this book wondering how you survived without knowing Linc and Tally up close and personal before now.

WARNING: You must read book one and two in this series before devouring this one. The true heart of the story must be felt from the very first book. Otherwise you won't know all that Tally and Linc go through and then how can you truly fall in love with them? So read this series in order. These are NOT standalones.

This author and this series is well worth your time. All her work belongs on the tippy top of your TBR pile!

At the beginning of the book the author writes:
"If you believe in fairy tales and happy endings, and you want to stop right here and bask in the wonderment and joy of it all, please do. If you want to know the rest of our story, you need to take a deep breath and tell yourself that everything will be okay, that everything works out, and life happens, and in the end love is all you need. Someone has to tell you these things, just like someone had to tell me. All I know is that the truth never dies, and it does set you free, whether you want it to or not. And in the end? All you have is love. Love is all there is. ~ Talia Landon Presley"

This statement says it all! If you hate the way KO tortures her characters you need to hang on to your chair and get ready for the ride. If you don't like heart break and crying and horrible tragedy then this book is not for you.

KO is a creative writer and when she writes her stories there is no fantasy but she brings you to the characters and you can understand and sympathize with their imperfect lives. Don't get me wrong I don't always like the outcome but this is not the hearts and flowers romance that you get from other authors.

This is the third book with Tally & Linc and it has been a roller coaster relationship but when you see the words "I love you more today than yesterday.” The reader has hope that this young couple has been through enough and is ready for happily ever after but then again this is Mrs. Owen that we are talking about. You need to read the story to find out what happens in this twisted relationship!

I highly recommend this story and hang on for the ride because this one was the best one yet! ❤️

I am so happy I stumbled across this series ending novel. After finishing book two, I felt disappointed I didn't get to see much of the couple actually together since most of their time is always in some sort of limbo. This series demands a special kind of head space from me as a reader, so I've waited until the time was right to dive in. Linc and Tally are tragic in the best and worst ways. Their conclusion gutted me more often than not, but it DID have a well deserved HEA for them. I felt like it was bittersweet but somehow the most realistic of endings for this couple. Like the two previous books, the writing is wordy but worth it. Since its been a while, I can't fully remember if books 1 and 2 had this many editing issues, but the story was one that had to be told and I didn't let the duplicate wording or punctuation errors stop me from getting there. I have added more books by this author to my TBR list because I need to know if she only puts my heart through a blender in this series or all of her work. I rated this last installment higher than the rest because it was everything I wanted and didn't know I needed.

Ok so I was one of the people who BEGGED for more Linc and Tally and Cara. Well while the writing was wonderful even being warned of the emotions involved in this book I still wasn't prepared . I want to give my honest opinion so I apologize in advance to the author but if I could erase it from my memory and only have the two previous books I would go back in time and not ask for more. I will not give any spoilers because everyone should read it and have their own opinion and this one is mine. I am a true fan of this series and felt like this book could of been wrapped up in a million different ways then with the horrific events that occurred before their "happily ever after". Again this is my opinion . I learned a valuable lesson here , sometimes less is more and don't mess with a good thing. I will still recommend Katherine's books to people because I believe she is an amazing author but I'm still sad..

You know when book 2 ended I thought GREAT they finally got their HEA, I should have known it wouldn't last. I was hooked from the beginning but would have to put it down at times because my emotions were out of control.

Without giving any spoilers I will tell you tissues will be required. One part of the story that just broke me I was sitting on a flight at 6am with people sleeping all around me as I am sobbing and no Kleenex in sight. That chapter should tell you that you might want Kleenex ahead of time.

Everything that is meant to happen in the lives of Tally & Linc does by the end of the book. I can't believe I'm going to say this because I hate Novella's but I feel there needs to be another story just letting us know that some good does happen again in their lives.

Perfect ending to this amazing love story. Tally and Linc don't have an ordinary love and they go through a lot of trials and tribulations in all three books, but something that never waivers is their love for one an other. No matter what fate or people put them through they always seem to find their way back to each other. The author is very good at making your feel all the emotions that this young couple go through. I felt the love, hate, anger, sadness, jealousy and so much more. There is some parts in this book that completely gutted me, but I see what the author was trying to do and it just makes you really cherish what you have and helps you to realize that life is not always fair or easy. You need to read the first two books first to really understand this couple dynamic but this series is so worth the read.... 5 stars

This book was generously provided by netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Tell Me Something True is an intense read that is the last book of a trilogy. I was swept away by Linc and Tally's story from the very beginning. After all that Tally has been through she is still such a strong woman, although in this book you will see her falter. She has always second guessed things, besides her love for Linc. This book leads you into the most traumatizing time of their lives; it stole my breath and broke my heart. I don't understand how a person can experience what Tally has and still get up everyday and actually live. In this final book, you really see Tally grow, she seems like she's losing it at times but in the end she gets there.

An emotional read not for the weak. I thought I was prepared for this book, I thought I learn my lesson with book #1 but really this book crushed me. I love every bit of this book even though my heart broke in so many little pieces.

The journey for Tally and Linc happiness isn't a straight road, it's a bumpy, ride to hell one. So if you are up to it and are a fan of these two bring the wine, tissues and a brave heart.

I needed a few days to process this book. Was I upset about the twist and turns in the book? HELL YES! How much more can these two characters ensure. And enough with these car accidents.
Okay with that out of the way, great and emotional. You brought your readers on their roller coaster. We never know where we end up. Every time you think it settles, something comes up.
Let these characters settle for a bit. But we deserve a happy ending!
Maybe show a little more of Kimberly and Brad.

Bit late to the party with this one... so I stumbled across the first two books years ago and only recently (this week) decided to re- read them... the low and behold not sure how but I found a third book had been released but with a warning... such as if you want a happy ending stop here... now I sucker for happy ending but I NEEDED not of Tally and Linc, their story was just addictive and explosive I needed to know how they finally ended, I would not be happy knowing there journey continued and stayed behind.

I was bracing for more heartbreak but WOW... this book did something that no book has ever done before which is make me cry, I was laying in bed unable to put this book down sobbing into my pillow at the tragic plot thinking how can one person having this much heartbreak and still continue!

If you want a truly fantastic series but a talented author then the truth about lies series is the one and don’t be that person who is content with not finishing there series you will miss out on a fitting ending. Well done Katherine!

Devil’s Bane: A Paranormal Thriller by Glenn Williams is a darkly magnetic exploration of forbidden love and supernatural danger. Set in the haunting world of Port Hollow, the novel intertwines romance, witchcraft, and suspense with striking emotional depth. Rory Garcia’s desperate bid to protect both himself and his lover, Gwydion Garrity, against the deadly laws of their world becomes a gripping meditation on love, power, and moral sacrifice.

Williams excels at crafting tension that lingers from the whispered threats of dark sorcery to the peril of ancient covens and their unrelenting codes. The result is a narrative that transcends genre boundaries, appealing to both paranormal thriller readers and those drawn to character-driven stories where emotion is inseparable from danger.

Man, I really needed to read this book right now.  For whatever reason, I never got around to reading it, even though I loved the first two books in the series.  It was definitely an emotional roller-coaster, with things being great for Tally and Linc for a while.  Until things weren't okay.  We are talking about Tally and Linc, after all.

I'm not going into spoilers, but there was one particular moment I didn't see coming.  It was so unexpected, and how much more can two people go through?  They did make it through, of course, and I'm glad their got their HEA.

Things are never easy for them, and their relationship was really put to the test in this book.  In ways that we didn't see in the previous two books.  Everything they've done- every lie they've told, every secret they've kept really caught up with them, and there was a point where I thought they wouldn't make it.

My opinion of Linc really changed in this book.  Yes, both he and Tally have issues, and in particular, Tally has a lot of things to work through, but it doesn't mean that the things Linc did are okay.  He has his own issues he needs to work on, and even though he blames Tally for a lot of things, I think he's equally to blame.  It does seem like they're off to a fresh start, though, at the end of the book, so it seems like they managed to work things out just enough that they seem okay.

Tally and Linc are one of those couples who go through a lot and either don't make it as a couple...or they do.  I'm glad they do, but they've had a rocky past that they haven't completely dealt with.  Part of me was the tiniest bit frustrated that they had to go through so much, and that they still did the same thing of not communicating and spending time with people they shouldn't, and jumping to conclusions.  But at the same time, they did realize that they had a lot of things that they needed to work on, and that they needed to make themselves better.  My heart broke for them, especially Tally.

I loved the playlist included at the end of the book, which seemed really fitting because each chapter title was a song title.  I don't know a lot of the songs, but the ones I do know really fit, especially for the chapters they were the title for.  And each chapter had a poem at the beginning, which I also really liked because somehow, they seemed to fit each chapter.  While I don't normally go for poetry, I liked the ones in the book enough to check out the person who wrote them.

My Rating: 5 stars.  I loved this book, and even though it was an emotional roller-coaster that had me sobbing by the end of it, it was worth seeing how things turned out for Linc and Tally.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Ok, so I have mixed feelings about this book. I love these characters and while I enjoyed the first two books and wanted more, I kind of hoped that being married would help them become more secure in their relationship and they would be more honest with one another.

I believe they eventually got there but there was a lot of drama in between that I kind of felt like could have been resolved if these two owned up to their issues and dealt with them. (I think this had less to do with the book and more with me, I live my life pretty drama free.) However, I feel like that being said, there were a lot of things that showed the strength of their love and their feelings for one another. Maybe some couples need to go through these things to get on more solid ground. I believe this was definitely the case for these two.

In any event, Katherine Owens delivers a heartfelt journey between Linc and Tally that both tugs at our heartstrings and leaves us with a contentment we didn't get before. This is what she is known for and she always delivers exceptionally well. There were times when I wanted to scream and times where I was just incredibly sad but the main thing was that I was left happy and I feel like despite the sadness it was all going to be ok.

Wow! An amazing read.

Just when you thought it would be smooth sailing for Tally and Linc, we find out there is still a lot left to their story. They will need to overcome tragedy, betrayal, loss, fear, and their own personal demons to claim their forever.

These two suffer and survive so much just to believe in their forever love. The high and lows they experience take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions....that will leave you in tears....and maybe a smile or two.

Katherine Owens writes another amazingly intense emotional read that will leave your stomach in knots and a smile on your face. Don't know how she can pack so much emotion into a book and still make it so wonderful but she does! You leave feeling like you know Tally and Linc, their family, and their friends......everyone just comes to life!!

What a book!!!!!!!!
