Alpha Wolf's Calling

Rate this book

Life in a quaint, isolated Bavarian village withstands constant threat from the surrounding Forbidden Forest, a place Elsa Gutz's parents warn her never to go. Childhood myths passed down through the ages depict the Forest as a place of evil and corruption, full of golden-eyed lions, fire breathing dragons, spiteful witches, venomous warlocks, and demonic werewolves. Those who enter the Forest never return, and if they do, they come back as something entirely different.

One day, Elsa meets a man named Theo with whom she falls deeply in love, but who harbors a terrible secret involving the Forbidden Forest. What she soon discovers about Theo may force her to cross the border into the darkly magical place from which there is no salvation or escape, in order to save the one person she truly loves.

Alpha Wolf’s Calling is a standalone romance novel with a happily ever after ending, no cliffhanger, and one scene of graphic lovemaking. Just who, or what, resides in the Forest and watches Elsa at night in her sleep? Read on to find out which path Elsa will take--to love a lion shifter for the rest of her life in her village, or to love an alpha wolf shifter, for eternity in the dark and mysterious Forbidden Forest.

I feel this author has a lot of potential and is person to watch closely. The storyline was rock solid; Hannah Heat did an amazing job building up the characters, and spinning a mystical tale of intrigue. The insta-love between Theo and Elsa was troubling. The same can be said with her irrational behaviors of jealousy and obsession for a man she didn't know. I felt the poor girl was taken advantage of and had a hard time connecting with either of them. However once Elsa came face to face with Dorien and later was trapped in the woods, the story really took off. I felt teleported in pan's labyrinth, in the Forbidden Forrest. The werewolves we met and the kindred friendship was both endearing and heartwarming. The use of magic and prophecy was astounding and had me completely captivated in the pages. So how to rate Alpha Wolf's Calling, when honestly I didn't like the beginning of the chapters? I'd have to say four stars! Overall I was hooked, entertained and fell in love with the delightful tale. Recommended to all who loves magic, supernatural, paranormal, witches, demons werewolves Oooooo my! Happy reading, enjoy.

Hannah Heat is a new author to me. I love to help authors from a writer and reader point of view. As always, please let the author know what you think about their hard work. I ask you do so in a polite and constructive way. So, Thank you in advance.

Okay, let's talk about the book. The prologue introduces us to Elsa Gutz.
She will be the main character. The book begins with her father telling her and her older sister a bedtime tale, while young, about the Forbidden Forest. It surrounds the Bavarian town and is to be believed as evil with paranormal and magical creatures. For this reason, children must stay away. Once you are in, you never return. Elsa believes she feels a wolf with green eyes staring at her, but casts it off as a childs imagination and dream. Even as she grows, this stays in the back of her mind.

Chapter One opens with a friend of Elsa's, Priscilla, disturbing church services announcing something found by the edge of town and the Forbidden Forest. Everyone in town is there to see. It turns out to be Lili and her son, Ennis. Ennis ran into the forest and Lili went to find him. Beside them lays sleeping an injured, handsome stranger that Lili verifies saved them. Father O'Grady immediately dispatches care for them all and welcomes them home. Elsa feels like he is familiar and notices he is wrapped in red ivy.

Chapter Two begins the next day having church service with Lili and Ennis present. The Governor and Father O'Grady decided that the stranger will stay with the town. He will live in a house abandoned on the outskirts of town. The townspeople are scared he is from the forest and will bring evil to their innocence. Father reminds them of their religious beliefs and teachings and continues service.

Chapter Three opens with Elsa clowning around with her friends Priscilla, and twins, Sarah and Chloe. Elsa is actually trying to keep the twins out of trouble. They have a habit of taking things and storing it in a bag full of their collections. Out of the bag they pull the red ivy. Elsa tells them to tell nobody, lest they would be in trouble again. Elsa thinks about how dangerous it might be and again about the stranger.

Chapter Four opens with Elsa finding a red stain on her dress collar and fingertips. Water only faded the color to pink. She can feel that evil is coming. She goes to bed thinking about the handsome stranger and dreaming about Lili. Her dream was so intense that she jumped up out of bed. Resolves to visit Lili the next day and ask about the stranger.

Chapter Five Elsa visits Lili and Ennis. She gets Lili to tell her about her journey. Lili tells her about the black wolf and green eyes, from the bedtime story, chasing her. She finds her child but the wolf had them cornered. A lion tackles the wolf and they all ran out of the forest. The lion was the stranger. Lili knows the forest changed them and the wolf is near. Elsa can see that she's correct by looking in Lili and her sons eyes. Many questions are posed. They just know that evil is there.

All the chapters that follow has Elsa on the adventure of her life. You will learn about the stranger and her connection, the power of love, witches, dragons, lies, deceipt, the black wolf, werewolves, the Forbidden Forest and a prophecy. There is so much more than this. From this point to the end, your head will be spinning but it is worth the ride.

Overall, the author wrote one heck of an adventure book. I enjoyed the twists and turns. I applaud the author for creating a curvaceous heroine who was wanted by many. She held her own and even at her lowest, with help she persevered. As for the men most were courageous, handsome and shape shifting became very sexy to me. Hot and bothered doesn't even cover the intensity of attraction and carnal deeds.
In a way, this story is a mesh of fairy tales we all have been told or you've seen thanks to Disney. Everything has a good side and bad. I'm telling you, just prepare yourself.

It actually took me a month to finish this book to completion. The beginning drug on for me. So, I put it down, pick it up and repeat several times. I bit the bullet and started from the beginning to the end. I completed it in two days. There are parts that were confusing and questions/characters you never learn their fate. Did it take away from the entire story? No. The ride was enjoyable but the road had a few hard bumps. I suggest you read this with an open mind and a good imagination. If you do not, you will miss the forest because of the trees, so to speak. As an enthusiast, I recommend to give the book a chance. I was actually exhausted by the end. I'm telling you, Hannah Heat has one sensational imagination. And yes, I would gladly read her writings again.
Enjoy!

Well this was definitely and interesting read. While I enjoyed reading this story it left me with jumble thought and conflict emotion I was also really confused. In the beginning I felt bad for Elsa she was just this naive girl who fell for a guy she barely knew and she didn't understand why she had these feeling. She was also way to trusting which gave her enemy the opportunity to take advantage of her. With that been said I don't want to give away too much but the ending was even more confusing to me. Overall a good read looking forward to reading more books from this author. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very sweet and heartfelt shifter novel.
Elsa has always lived on the edge of a forbidden forest where shifters and witches reside. No one who enters the forest has ever returned, until now. With the return of one of the villagers and her son, a strange man also comes out of the forest. Theo, a lion shifter, managed to make it out of the forest and for a brief time find love with Elsa. When Theo's brother attacks the village and Theo is taken, Elsa decides that her only option is to venture into the forest to try and find him. But once she enters the forest will she be able to find Theo and if so will she ever make it back out?

I received this book for my honest review. I won't do spoilers, this story starts you with Elsa living in a small village brought up on stories of the forbidden forest but she always felt as though she was being watched but not in a bad way so when she reached adulthood and a villager returned from the forest with a man she felt was her soulmate she thought it would be her happy ever after. As the story goes on there is heart break, danger, lies and deceit. it takes you through such a journey you are left with.... what the heck has she just been through to find the answers she needs.

I'm not very sure about this book. It was interesting but I have to say I was confused with the jumping around in the story. I didn't really like Elsa's character too much. I felt she was in over her head, but then I'm just not really sure. I think if there was maybe more explaining for the way it's jumps around a bit I might feel better about it, but all in all it was a decent read.

The Forbidden Forest is the main part in this story which begins with Elsa's father warning her and her older sister as little girls of the dangers of going into the Forbidden Forest because it was evil and no one ever came back out but that wasn't true when Elsa was grown her friend Lili went into the Forest because her son ran in and she was determine to go in and bring him out she thought she was gone only a few minutes but she was gone for 3 weeks the time in the Forbidden Forest was so much slower than the time in the outside world and she brought her son and a very handsome man that she said was a Lion shifter named Theo that save and protected her and her son he was unconscious for weeks before he recovered and the people in the village were scared and didn't want him to stay but the Father O'Grady convinced the town that they should show compassion Elsa fell hard for the man and she was jealous of Lili because of it and Lili only wanted to be a good person again she was scared that she wouldn't be again but still Elsa would have to go on a journey to recover Theo because it was like he was turned to dust and she knew that hew wasn't dead but she didn't know where he was but she would do just about anything for Theo and Theo admitted that he loved her after the part of the town was burned by his jealous brother Dorien the Dragon shifter wanted him back in the Forest but the wanted to be with Elsa. This is Elsa's run in with the witch Feja and the Alpha wolf shifter Zamir The Great Warrior and the wolf shifters who live in the Forbidden Forest with him that she met along her journey. It was an unusual story.

Candy asked me to read this book "Alpha Wolf's Calling"and give my opinion on it. First off I cannot understand where the title comes from when the main characters are HUMAN and a LION SHIFTER. I am sorry but I just could not get interested in it. I did finish book, but cannot say that I for sure understood the purpose of the book. The first few chapters were really hard to get into and not sure the purpose of them. Then it acted as it was going to pick up when the three had actually escaped the Forbidden Forest where is said to be full evil beings. A woman name Lili and her son Ennis escaped with the help of am man name Theo (happens to b a lion shifter). Elsa is in love with this man even though she had never actually got to talk to him. Elsa talks of being unfaithful to Theo by sleeping with his brother Dorian who happens to be a dragon shifter. I never read that she slept with either one of them. Then toward the end I read that she gave her virginity to Zamir (a wolf shifter).

There were parts where you just were lost and couldn't figure out what was going on, then there were parts where you couldn't stop reading.

Don't want to give away any of major details of the book to spoil it for other readers. Other people may love it and may understand everything that is going on. I just in all honest cannot say that I liked the book.

The storyline of this book was different from a normal shifter romance and in some places left me asking myself "What just happened?" In parts it felt like it jumped around too much and reminded me of an M. Night Shyamalan movie. Don't get me wrong, most of them are good and they make you think, but trying to figure them out is the key.
Elsa the heroine finds herself in some sticky situations throughout the book and ultimately discovers the answers she is looking for. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Alpha wolf's calling

This book started slow but intersecting. Elsa was confused that her heart was torn into two. During her adventures Elsa realized the sacrifices one must make to do the right things but also realize you must treat and do to others as you want done to you. At least that's one point I arrived at from this story. The authors has a vivid imagination that made you want to continue to read even to just find out if Elsa and Theo got their HEA. I was actually going that everyone got what they needed.

I enjoyed this story. It is full of twists and turns. The myth is the forest tries to keep all that enters. Elsa meets Theo who has come from the forest and instantly has a connection to him. She falls in love with him and learns she is his mate. Elsa fights to save Theo from the darkness that captured him.

Out there

This story reminded me of Alice In Wonderland. Elsa loses Theo and is tricked my Freya into sin, which causes a crazy adventure into the forest. I was surprised when the cussing started in the tavern with Mitch. I thought the town was pious and everyone was Christian. There were so many twists and turns it was hard to follow sometimes.

This is my first book by Hannah Heat and although it was an interesting read, it just wasn't for me.
