Dr. Charles F. Stanley is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church Atlanta, founder of In Touch Ministries, and a New York Times best-selling author who has written more than fifty books, and has sold more than nine million copies. He demonstrates a keen awareness of people's needs and provides Christ-centered, biblically-based principles for everyday life.
Charles Frazier Stanley was born September 25, 1932, in the small town of Dry Fork, Virginia. The only child of Charley and Rebecca Stanley, Charles came into the world during a time when the entire nation felt the grip of the Great Depression. To make matters worse, just nine months later, his father Charley died at the young age of 29.
However, Charles refused to let the Great Depression or the difficulties of his life define him. Instead, like his father and grandfather before him, he clung to God’s Word and took up the mantle to preach the gospel to whoever would listen.
Dr. Stanley’s motivation is best represented by the truth found in Acts 20:24, “Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God's mighty kindness and love.” This is because, as he says, “It is the Word of God and the work of God that changes people’s lives.”
Dr. Stanley’s teachings can be heard weekly at First Baptist Church Atlanta, daily on “In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley” radio and television broadcasts on more than 2,800 stations around the world, on the Internet at intouch.org, through the In Touch Messenger, and in the monthly, award-winning In Touch magazine.
I cannot say enough good about this DAILY study Bible. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT. Older and wiser now, I want to know whose works I am studying, their influence and personal relationship with the Sovereign Creator. Dr. Charles Stanley is one of five finger preachers I will lend my time in listening to. Soft spoken and humble, in his lectures and books the relationship he shares with God is deeply personal and righteous. He avoids his influence and teaches the Word of God.
The LP Daily Bible (NOT to be confused with his Life Principles Bible) touts six formats: Daily Bible readings with portions from the Old Testament, Psalms, Proverbs and the New Testament; Life Principles, thirty critical principles for successful Christian living; What the Bible Says About, articles on scriptural insight of concern to believers; Answers to Life's Questions, focusing on challenges in our Christian faith; Life Lessons, offer insights into Bible verses/passages emphasizing the practical and personal nature of God's Word. Life Lessons are indicated in the margin by pointers; asterisks denote a Bible promise.
What I like is that each daily reading may be completed within 30 minutes ... taking longer as schedules and study intent demmand. I started with August 4, when I received the Bible and already know this is one format I probably will study daily. Unlike other study bibles with leagues of cross references, Dr. Stanley has kept the Daily Bible simple, but believe me, poignant! Each lesson is dated (without year). The Bible verse and Bible promises are highlighted (dark gray). Side bars for each Life Lesson are small boxes that do not mince words. What the Bible Says About (title also highlighted) may be larger areas, but again, Dr. Stanley goes straight to the heart of the matter opening our mind to ponder with NO extraneous word clutter.
This daily study Bible may not be adequate for advanced biblical students, pastors, teachers, etc, but for the new Christian, teenager, casual reader of the Bible and for those of us returning to the flock, it is excellent. I should think Sunday school and Bible school teachers would also find its format easy to use when preparing their classes. Students certainly will find it easy to follow. And, as Dr. Stanley writes in his prologue: "... the best thing I could do [was develop] the Life Principles Daily Bible --- to help you read through the entire Bible in a year ..."
My only con: I wish he had included a dictionary of Hebrew dates to include: Jewish festivals, holy days and both the civil and religious calendar. This would have made this study Bible about Perfect. Maybe in a later edition?
HIGHLY RECOMMEND PRODUCT and Seller. Product as described. Delivery Prime timely.
I’m speechless. What can I say that hasn’t been said before? This is the most important book I’ve ever read. It has changed my life, and I will read it again and again until my dying day. No other book has helped me to understand human nature and given me limitless hope despite our nature. May God bless all who read this and may they find their way to his Word. What’s the point of living and not knowing what’s contained in this book? It’s every thing. Every. Thing.
The side/foot notes, stories, and Principles help connect you to Jesus, the disciples, and the other characters. Through Dr. Stanley's amazing translation & interpretation I was given so much insight and knowledge of the Word.
I purchased this study Bible, because I do not have the NKJV translation and it is a bonus that it is combined with practical life principles for Christians to understanding and know God better. It is filled with useful articles that relate to common challenges Christians have on their walk with God. The passage notes that are oriented to show what principles it links to or to highlight God's promises is well-thought. It is also a neat bonus that the notes use colour for visual appeal. The principles are explained thoroughly and are practical.
I would recommend this for anyone familiar with Charles Frazier Stanley's sermons or who wants a NKJV translation that helps to lead you to a more intimate relationship with God based of 30 principles.
I looked forward to reading through this but found the format distracting. Each day, there are readings from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. I wanted to spend my time reading focused on one book at a time rather than having my time divided between the four different selections.
This has been the best book for daily reading through the Bible if you are searching for daily reading in a year choose this book you will not be disappointed 🙂
1 Samuel- Samuel is the last Judge and head priest that when Israel wanted a King like other nations, not wanting to trust in God’s reign, Saul looked the part but his heart did not stay with God, so he was told another that was had a heart for God was anointed. David would not kill Saul but waited for his time, meanwhile Saul tried to kill David. Saul and his sons died, including his eldest Jonathan in the battle with the Philistines.
2 Samuel-God makes David the King of Israel, though he had sinned, David’s heart was with God and he repents which God would accept but always some price paid. David’s family life with many wives caused strifes many times.
