A USA Today Bestseller, JADE LEE has been scripting love stories since she first picked up a set of paper dolls. Ball gowns and rakish lords caught her attention early (thank you Georgette Heyer), and her fascination with the Regency began. An author of more than 40 romance novels and winner of dozens of industry awards, her latest series is RAKES AND ROGUES. The first one, 50 WAYS TO RUIN A RAKE, is an awesome tale of love and laughter. And don’t forget Kathy Lyons.. She’s Jade’s paranormal half. Check out her new shifter series GRIZZLIES GONE WILD. I reviewed this book for Romance Reader At heart website.
RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:
I've been so eager to read this book. WICKED SEDUCTION is a sequel to WICKED SURRENDER, and I highly recommend you read the prequel first. In order for you to understand our hero and his state of mind, his life before he gets thrown onto the ship bound for colonies, you need to know who he was and what he went through. I expected Kit's story to be good, but the story that unfolded was AMAZING!
When first we meet our hero (in WICKED SURRENDER), he's a fun loving and adorable young man, full of love for an actress by the name of Scheherazade. He loves this woman to distraction and, against all reason and his family's approval, means to marry her and give her the respectability she craves. Scheherazade, on the other hand, likes Kit, but is in love with his cousin Brandon, who can't offer her marriage in spite of his feelings for her, for the simple reason that he's already secretly married.
As their wedding approaches, Kit gets hurt, and while Scheherazade tries to help him heal, his family plots to separate the two. They manage to get Kit away from her and pronounce him dead.
It's seven years later, and Kit's finally ready to return to England. The first glimpse we get of him, we know this is not the same man. This Kit is someone else entirely. In place of a happy-go-lucky man, we meet a man tortured physically, as well as emotionally. Slowly, we get to know exactly what he went through in the hands of those that captured him and made him a slave. After three years as a slave, and four years of wandering aimlessly trying to heel himself, Kit is ready to face his past. He's ready to face Sher, the only thing that kept him alive through years of torture.
Before he heads for England, he decides to get revenge on the slavers, and this is where he rescues Alex, a young man captured and bound on a slave ship. The rescue scenes were so well written and fast paced, I found myself jumping from excitement! Once Kit arrives at his cousin's house and finds out that he refused to pay his ransom, all hell breaks loose, and that's when he meets Maddy, his Angel.
Maddy is intrigued by the handsome pirate. When it appears that Kit and Alex have nowhere to go, she offers them a safe haven at her uncle's home, even though she's only the poor relation in that household. Her uncle has been relying on her heavily to keep his home and to prepare his daughter Rose for marriage. Rose is very young and spoiled, but not mean. She's oblivious to anything that doesn't concern her.
The scenes between Kit and Maddy are heartwarming and full of emotion. Maddy's strength and compassion are exactly what Kit needs at this point in his life. The only thing that keeps him from fully committing to Maddy is his fear of hurting her when he's in one of his post traumatic `fits'. Maddy understands this, but she's helpless as time is running out on her stay with her Uncle, who's proposed she becomes his mistress after Rose marries. Rose, however, has plans of her own for our hero. She aims to marry the fierce pirate and is scheming to that end.
There are so many well-written scenes in this book that I'm hard pressed to choose one; but the one in which Kit comes face-to-face with Scher will stay with me awhile (and I quote):
"Kit found his footing, but his world was teetering out of control. His vision wasn't even clear as the lawn seemed to bob and weave before him. He was sinking in an ocean of emotions as wave after wave of fury swamped his consciousness. Never before had he come face-to-face with all he'd lost.
'Kit!' It was Maddy's voice, a single high note of worry, but it did little to beat back the tide.
He thought he'd dealt with everything that had happened. He thought he'd come to accept his lot in life, but now he saw so clearly what had been stolen from him. It wasn't that he wanted Scheherazade. As a woman, she was little more than a memory for him. But her life, her children, her obvious joy in all that surrounded her- that is what he'd lost the day his bastard cousin had thrown him onto a boat.
`That boy,' he rasped as he stumbled in the direction of the back house door. `He should have been mine. This life!' He spun wildly, trying to indicate the house, the grounds, the joy he saw in every line of Scher's pregnant body. This life was mine!'"
That scene was worth the wait. I literally read this book holding my breath while witnessing Kit's struggle to overcome the horrors of his captivity.
There's not a thing that I didn't like about WICKED SEDUCTION, and there's a lot to recommend it. All the characters, secondary included, were very vivid, extremely well-developed, and the romance full of tender moments. I liked the interaction between Kit and Maddy, and I would be remiss not to mention the love scenes!
WICKED SEDUCTION is one book that you won't be able to put down `till you're done.
I adore Jade Lee's historicals-- her Asian Blaze (The Concubine) remains one of my all-time favorites-- but this was a little different than what I've come to expect from Jade Lee. The characters are just as rich and three-dimensional as ever, but the setting was pure England. There's still plenty of hot loving, an alpha-but-wounded hero (is PTSD a new trend in romance novels?), and a feisty heroine, but nada about Asia.
I completely enjoyed the characters of Kit and Maddy! Rose, however, was excessively annoying! I was thoroughly engrossed, and satisfied with all but the abrupt ending with Rose talking of course... Ugh. Even so, I didn't hold Rose against the rest of the book. I would have gven 4.5 stars if it were possible. Great story!
I received this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review. Spoilers ahead: Overall I enjoyed the book and became very engaged with the story, so that I read well into the night to finish it in one sitting.
The plot contains things that might have triggered me: lots of high drama in places, references to slavery and torture and angsty moments as the Hero's memories resurface, but I did not find they derailed the story, rather they were integrated well into the storyline and they were a part of the plot explaining the PTSD of the Hero.
Loved the introduction of the Heroine who is courageous and capable with common sense. We first meet her as she defuses a tense, violent situation in a clever way, and you understand immediately why the Hero would have noticed and appreciated her. I might question some of her subsequent choices, but the author has portrayed a woman whose life has left her with limited choices trying to make her way in the world with independence, compassion and good humour.
The Hero is seriously complicated, deeply emotional and in the midst of major healing crises due to traumas he has experienced. His relationship with a secondary character Alex give him the greatest moments of humanity and compassion as he starts to return home physically and emotionally. Alex's reunion with his family is very touching and I was disappointed that the Hero's eventual meetings with his immediate family are referred to, but not completely experienced by the reader, however his reunion with his brother Lucas is a great emotional payoff in the Book.
There might be red flags for readers with issues of almost rape/sexual consent as the Hero struggles with his impulse control while under the influence of his PTSD. The Heroine succumbs to desire for a while, but when she begins to feel uncomfortable she says no, and fights back and secondary characters also support/save her as the Hero is not conscious enough while in the grip of his trauma to hear her say no...The Heroine understands the why and he always sincerely apologizes, and she forgives him afterwards believing this is part of his healing, but again these incidents could be a huge trigger for anyone who has said no and not been heard...
I had not read Book One in this series and suspected the first book would deal with events and a relationship revealed near the end of this story. Because this secondary couple had their HEA, I will read the first book for context, and because I liked their energies together in Book 2.
I can't say this was light entertainment, but I liked it enough that I will also read the next book in the series, and I hope some of the secondary characters get their own stories, and we can then get further epilogues regarding this couple's HEA. Final Rating: 3.5 Stars

After a harrowing ordeal being abducted and enslaved by pirates, Kit Frazier has returned to London after a 7-year absence to find that not only did his own brother and his wife betray him and refuse to pay for his ransom and give him up for dead, but also his beloved fiancee, about whom he has dreamed for years, has married his cousin. Not able to stay in the home of his betrayer and with only pirate booty and no real money, Kit finds he and his traumatized charge, Alex have no place to go. Madeleine Wilson, peniless daughter of a deceased doctor, offers Kit and Alex lodging at her uncle's home even though her own welcome there is tenuous at best. Even though Maddy is almost always overshadowed by her cousin, the incredibly beautiful and incredibly spoiled Lady Rose, the attraction between Kit and his "Angel" Maddy is immediate and undeniable.
Although stuggling with his own demons and reduced circumstances, Kit is dumstruck by Maddy's plight when he arrives at her uncle's house. Although an invited guest and companion to his daughter, the earl treats Maddy more like a servant, forcing Maddy to wear Rose's ill-fitting cast-off gowns and working as housekeeper and household manager. Maddy supervises the household staff, keeps the accounts and even served as cook for a time. Kit even overhears the earl's ultimatum to Maddy that unless she finds a husband and moves out of his home, she must agree to become his mistress at the end of London's social seeason or he will put her out of the house. Kit is infuriated by this outrageous treatment of his Angel, but since he is not ready to take a wife, yet, he feels there is little he can do.
This story has lots of twists and turns that kept me interested from start to finish. What will happen when Kit meets his former fiancee and her family--the family that he felt should have been his--for the first time? Will Kit ever learn to control the rage and PTSD tearing him apart? What will become of Maddy? Will another man offer for her hand, or will she succumb to her uncle's disgusting demands to avoid having to live on the streets? Can she and Kit fight their growing attraction since he feels he cannot be a proper husband for her? And what of Lady Rose's ridiculous melodramatic dreams of becoming the bride of the "Pirate Prince" and being the talk of the ton? Once I got into the story, I found myself unable to put it down even though I hadn't read the first book in the series.
What would you do if your brother sent you away on a ship that is later captured by pirates, and then refuses to pay your ransom to set you free? Kit Frazier had to live seven long years of torture, horrific pain and nightmares at the hands of his captors. He also now lives with extreme guilt for not being able to save a young boy from dying while in captivity. Can Kitt ever heal from the painful memories of his capture? Will he ever be able to forgive his brother Micheal and his wife for not paying his ransom? Find out how Kitt deals with his family and his pain in this masterful read by Jade Lee.
Jade Lee writes a emotional novel that is so powerful that this book will tug at your heart strings. Every once in awhile I read a book that is so powerful and passionate beyond belief that I am awestruck at how the author can pack so much emotion and power into their leading characters. I was enthralled with this novel. I was not able to pull my eyes from the pages. Read this masterful novel by Jade Lee, and experience the passion and emotion that I experienced. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read your book Jade. I LOVED it!

Kit Frazier, taken by Barbary pirates, spent years of hell as a slave. Eventually he made his way back to England with Alex Morgan, another young Barbary slave. Both had to deal with physical and mental scars that would take time, patience and the care of someone special to overcome. Madeline Wilson, living with her Uncle Frank and Cousin Rose, has need of a husband but seems to be having difficulty finding one. With her selfish immature cousin to care for and an uncle that is less along with their household to supervise she leads a life she was not raised for and not necessarily one she enjoys. Kit and Maddy are drawn to one another but their journey to a happy future requires soul searching, experiences difficulties and requires growth on both their parts. I liked both of them and hoped that the horrible experiences Kit experienced as a slave would not derail their happily ever after.

I was totally down for the set up of this book. The couple chapters held my interest, and I couldn’t wait to see where things were going. And then it just tanked. I kept waiting for him to less of a victim and her to be less of a martyr, but it just never stopped. Then cue the “I love her I’ll sleep with her but I’m too damaged to marry her” storyline that just bugs me like nothing else...Dude. If you’re so noble and want to protect her from yourself, then stop showing up in her goddamn bedroom.
Handsome man returns from traumatic experience with handy skillz but penniless & with a damaged psyche. Empathetic humble competent woman nurses him back to psychological health while fending off a lecherous & exploitative uncle and a nitwit interfering cousin. Several sexy scenes celebrate creative, gentle lovemaking before they get around to unprotected premarital intercourse. All ends well.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book! Great plot and great character development---I couldn't wait to pick it up after putting it down to do boring things like laundry and sleeping and working!! I recommend it!
I enjoyed this second book much more than I did the first one. It started with heart stopping action, and ended much the same way. *sigh* Kit's story is . . . Too many adjectives come to mind - not all of them nice. Suffice it to say, this covered a myriad of emotions. A good story, mostly. I was a bit surprised at the rather abrupt ending. I was left with questions. Nothing that I can't spin my own interpretation for, but more than I find agreeable. Yes, Kit and Maddy found their love, but what about Alex? Or even Rose? There is more story to be had.
This is the story of Kit and Maddy.Kit returns to England with Alex. He and Alex had been captured by pirates and made slaves. They suffer from their ordeal with flashbacks with violent results. Maddy lost her father several years earlier and lives with her uncle and beautiful cousin. She acts as chaperone to the younger cousin Rose. Her father was a doctor and she helped him with his practice. She and the men when they are at Kit's cousin's house. They have adventures. Kit is drawn to Maddy. She is drawn to him. There is abduction by pirates and demand for gold(Rose), selling of jewelry, and midnight trysts. Very good book.
3.5 stars. I enjoyed most of this book for all the usual reasons I read Jade Lee's work: hot heroes, independent heroines, some kind of mystery, and strong emotional content. There was a plot twist mid-book that I didn't see coming but made perfect sense, so kudos for that. I wanted more of Alex and a lot less of Rose as far as secondary characters go. For a good share of the book I wanted Kit and Maddie to take to his ship and sail away because that would've solved a lot of their problems sooner although perhaps not in a socially acceptable way. Still, pirate!
3.5 stars. An entertaining story from one of my favourite authors, however there were lots of little typos in the kindle edition which were distracting and pulled my rating down. Usually there are no errors in Jade's books... Also, a brooch you wear, is not spelled broach! I liked the H/h and the romance had lots of 'steam'. I am making my way through all this author's books and I recommend reading her work.
I loved this story line! Kit is a perfect combination of danger and sweetness. Maddie is strong and always knows what to do in any situation. I enjoyed this book despite some writing errors, I didn't like how the story would jump drastically between paragraphs, it made the story disjointed and confusing. Other than that, this is a good read.
After being enslaved for seven years, and declared dead, Kit Frasier returns home to London. Rose and her poor relation, Maddy provide Kit and Alex with needed shelter. The plot blends elements of: "Emma," with "The Count of Monte Cristo." Lee balances elements of comedy with steamy romance.
This book had me hooked from the beginning and kept me hooked until the last page. Fate tried to pull them apart, but true love won in the end. Delightful book and I highly recommend this book.
His character development was well thought out. I also sincerely appreciate the non-romanticized take on Barbary pirates. One star was lost due to several important but one dimensional and thoroughly annoying characters.
Wicked Seduction is a historical romance that takes place in London, England. There was plenty of action and conflict with a strong level-headed heroine and a dashing flawed hero.
This book starts off with a lot of action as Kit is in the process of saving a young man from his former fate of enslavement. He has returned to the same slave ship he was tortured on to kill his former master.
Kit Frazier is a former pirate slave who has bought his freedom and is just returning to London after being away for 7 years. The many years he spent as a slave have left him physically and emotionally scarred. He suffers horribly with nightmares and flashbacks of his past life. He fears that the “savage beast” within him will never allow him to live in polite society.
Madeline Wilson has lived with her Uncle and cousin ever since her father died. She runs the Earl’s household and has helped to raise her cousin Rose. The mating Season is about to start in London and Maddy and Rose are preparing to find themselves husbands. The Earl has given both of them ultimatums that if they do not become engaged during this Season they will both be out in the streets. At the ripe old age of 27, Maddy feared she would never find a suitable husband.
There was instant chemistry and attraction between Kit and Maddy when they meet for the first time at Kit’s cousin’s house. But Kit’s internal conflict kept him fearful of hurting Maddy so he continued to deny his feeling for her. Although they both knew they loved each other that conflict as well as Rose’s meddling kept them apart.
Maddy was very patient with Kit and helped him to get through his anger and depression issues. When Kit’s anxiety overwhelmed him Maddy was always his strong and solid anchor who helped to pull him out of his downward spiral. But Kit was not a completely helpless man either as he was very protective of his “angel”. After finding out that her Uncle was spreading scandalous rumors about Maddy that tainted her character and just about ended her chances at finding a husband. He forced the Earl to give Maddy a huge dowry in exchange for his life and good reputation. Even after threatening her uncle, Kit still feels conflicted about his feelings for Maddy and can’t give her what she truly wants – marriage and happily ever after. After Kit left London to find his family, I was afraid that Maddy and Kit would not make it. They seemed perfect for each other as they were both each other’s strength.
What I liked about this book was although Maddy was the virginal, lower-class pauper she was the one that rescues Kit from his internal demons and saves his sanity. It seemed at times she was the seducer. As she slowly brought him out of his traumatized past, a loving strong man emerges. I like the idea of a flawed, vulnerable hero and headstrong heroine. This novel was full of romance and the love scenes between the two were beautiful and very steamy. I loved the way Kit took control and how he lovingly treated his angel, Maddy. This was the first novel that I have read by Jade Lee and I look forward to reading more of her work.
A wonderful book!! We love that Kit didn't die but was put on a boat bound for the colonies. His cousin Michael who is head of the family did this too him so he wouldn't we'd Scher. The boat is attacked by pirates almost everyone killed except Kit who is ransomed. No ransom comes so he is beaten and enslaved for the next 3 years until he finally buys his freedom. When he makes it home after 7 years his family is shocked to know he was not dead. This is where he learned Michael and his wife knew he was enslaved and they dallied with his life over the ransom money. When the young man Alex whom Kit rescues attacks Michael the Earl, Maddy Wilson talks him down and invites both to stay at her uncles home.
When her uncle arrives home he threatens Maddy with either she is gone by the end of the season or becomes his mistress. How could her uncle say this too her. Kit over hears the conversation and says to himself, I will not get involved. Kit needs to see Scher the woman he loved and find out why she married her cousin just weeks after his funeral and if his other family knew he was alive. He wanted the happy homecoming like Alex got from his family!! He asks Maddy to go with him and Rose, Maddy's cousin also goes. When he comes face to face with Scher he embraces her and almost kisses her but Brandon stops him. A fight ensues and Scher steps in between them and then Maddy does where she ends up on the ground with Kit. Finally a truce happens and Brandon offers to go into partnership with him.
Kit then realizes he needs to see his family to see what they knew of his kidnapping. He is gone for 6 weeks to make amends and when he returns he is a changed man. So much happens and Maddy wants Kit to seduce her. When her uncle finds them together, Kit threatens him. A great story with a wonderful ending!!

As I enjoyed reading Her Wicked Surrender, the first book in the Regency Hearts Redeemed Series, I had to read His Wicked Seduction as well, obviously.
This book was rather intense because the hero and the heroine are both at crosspoints in their life, Kit has just returned from captivity after having suffered as a slave for years and Maddie faces ruin and despair at the hands of....well.
The characters were different enough to entice me once more but a certain scheme is detectable, which makes the story despite its many twists and turns somewhat foreseeable.
Nevertheless I liked Kit and Maddie well and loved reading how their lives change for the better so I still enjoyed reading this book as well despite the similarities. I must admit though, that Rose and her naivete sometimes were a bit trying. There were times when I wasn't sure how much of this naivete was supposed to be real or how much might be faked but I fear that she is really as self-centered and naively innocent as she is portrayed.
Kit and Maddie are much more worldly, Kit is torn and a victim of his horrible experiences, bearing no resemblance any more to the somewhat carefree easy-going young man we met in Her Wicked Surrender, whereas Maddie, our heroine, tries to be brave and survive on her own in a time where women had almost no rights and were easily preyed upon by unscrupulous men.
On the whole the book is really well written and captivating especially for those who wondered about Kit's fate at the end of the first book.

Wicked Seduction by Jade Lee Historical Romance -March 1st, 2011 4 stars
Kit Frazier returned to England after seven long years at sea - three of which he was kept as a slave. He spent the next four years fighting to regain his humanity and a veneer of civility before he decided that he was ready to return to England. Maddy must marry someone before Rose or she would have to become a mistress to her uncle, who was related to her by marriage not by blood. Can these two find solace in each others arms? Will their love be enough to heal his wounds?
A solid, well-written and even tender romance by Jade Lee, Wicked Seduction is an insightful romance about a man struggling to overcome the horrors of his past. Kit is a well developed character that readers can easily sympathize with. Likewise, Maddy is another likeable character who strives to make the best out of her situation, even though it is bleak. You really can’t help but root for the two of them to get together!
Engaging and tense, this book will keep you reading all night long just to cheer Maddy and Kit on!

First of all: Rose, you are too much! lol! What a character!
With that out of the way: sheesh! What a rollercoaster ride of emotions! Again, we have a broken man in the form of Kit, seven years after he had been kidnapped at sea by Barbary pirates, and treated as a slave for four years before being free. Abused in his time as a slave, and being made to commit crimes and sins because he had been commanded to, he still slipped into dark moments whenever there had been an appropriate trigger.
But a chance meeting with Maddy at the house of his awful cousin Michael and his even-more-awful cousin's wife, Lily, led to an amazing chain of events.
Again, Jade Lee explored the power play between men and women (particularly between Maddy - who always bucks tradition! Go girl! - Kit, and her Uncle Frank). As you read, you'd understand why I added Uncle Frank - he was an awful, awful man, and I definitely relished the final exchange between him and Kit!
There were perhaps some rather silly moments where Kit reverted to being the rough pirate that he didn't really want to take on the role of, and some of the editing in the book could be better tightened up on, but it was still a rather enjoyable read.
