From the award-winning screenwriter and blockbuster film director Antoinette Jadaone comes another poignant story, The Arrow With a Heart Pierced Through Him. It was first seen as an animated story in her film That Thing Called Tadhana and has been much anticipated since. Wonderfully illustrated by visual effects artist Onin Pilotin, this storybook tells a simple and short tale about losing, keeping, and finding love.
This book has the extended version of the short story that was featured at the start of the 2015 best-selling independent movie, That Thing Called Tadhana starring Angelica Panganiban and J. M. de Guzman. I saw the movie and I liked it although I felt too old for that kind of story. What I really liked about it was the portrayal of Panganiban as the hurting Mace Castillo. She just came back from Italy nursing a broken heart because her fiance was already living in with another woman. She is bitter loud and pessimistic that she will be able to move on.

The story in this book, also written by the film's director, Antoinette Jadaone, aptly introduces what the movie is all about. It's about falling in love and hurting in the process. It's also about moving on: trying to pick up the pieces after a heartbreak. Finally, it's also about finding another love or returning to another love.
I did not cry watching the film. But I liked it so much that when I saw this book even if it is pricey (P800+), I bought it right away (thank you, Christmas bonus). Then while having lunch inside the mall, I flipped through the pages in finished everything in less than 5 minutes. However, even if it is that short, I was almost able to squirt some tears from my eyes. The ending in this story is heart-tugging and the way it is told is incredibly palpable that you would almost fell that you are arrow or heart (depending your role in your current or past love affairs).
Well done, Jadaone! Kudos to your success. Sulat pa more!
I was able to attend the book launching at Fully Booked (Bonifacio High Street) and got the chance to meet the author & the illustrator (Tonette & Onin).
