Fall in love with the Wolves of Belle Fourche all over again.
It began with Caleb and Jack...
Caleb Blackwell is the Alpha of the Belle Fourche Wolves and he has lost touch with his pack. After a frightening attack, he has devoted all of his time to securing the Pack land borders and keeping his people safe. Alpha Caleb thought that if only his pack was safe, everything else would be taken care of. In the process, he has left his Pack vulnerable to evil within, that seeks nothing, but power and destruction. This is an evil much more dangerous than any outside Belle Fourche's defense. Caleb will pay dearly for his mistake. He might just lose his forever mate.
Jack is not looking forward to moving just before the end of his senior year of high school, but he has little choice in the matter. His mother mated with a wolf shifter, Nile Welch, and since Nile's pack doesn't allow human mates they have to find a new home and a new life. They find the Belle Fourche Pack in Belle Fourche, South Dakota and make a home. Little do they know that things are not right in Belle Fourche. Jack will find his mate, but he may also lose his life in the process.

I really enjoyed this story, although, the villain was truly a cruel, twisted, character, so I was frustrated in the beginning with what he was able to get away with. The writing was excellent and the ending was wonderful. I was truly pulled into the storyline and it definitely held my attention. Exceptional read.
The story had a good and very dramatic plot. The thing that had me waffling between a 2 and a 3 was that the story was very stiff and stilted, especially the dialog. The dialog had almost no contractions in it which made it sound wooden. There were some of the proofing issues seen in self-published works but nothing bad. The only other thing that threw me was that Andy, who was supposed to be new-ish like Jack (this is what had bonded them in school) gives Jack a big talk about the history and backstory of the pack; it just didn't feel realistic. The story was good enough that I will gladly try more works by this author.

After Caleb had an attack he has let someone else (Martin) take care of the day to day activates while he stays with the security of his pack. Jack is a human whose new step-father is a shifter. After Jack turns down Martin’s advances. Martin he gets mad, no one has turned him down. He uses his position to get what and who he wants. After Jack turns him down Martin wants him to pay. So he forges and almost kills Jack. What Martin doesn’t know is that Jack is Caleb’s true Mate. Caleb is mad that Jack was almost killed by the person he put into the position he did. Will Jack ever be able to trust Caleb? Will Caleb be able to forgive himself for what happened to his Mate?
I really liked this book. Good characters and storyline. I look forward to more stories about the pack. There are a lot of possibilities with this series, and I hope to enjoy more to come.
Jack just moved to Belle Fourche and he unfortunately becomes an obsession to Martin. If Caleb had been doing his job he would've met Jack and that would be that. Instead Jack had to get beaten before Caleb opened his eyes to the truth.
