Why you asked? BECAUSE the author got it freaking right! Let me explain why I feel the author got it right before I go into why I loved the book.
The book flowed perfectly, things hit when it needed too, sucked you in right on time and left you frustrated and quickly soothed... and for the love of all things great this author did not wait until the freaking end of the book to tie everything up! I can not stand when I am reading a book and everything is tied up in the last 3% of the book, like it's quickly thrown together. NOT this book, we knew answers to questions pretty early on, what what read was how things were handled ( not spoiling a hot dang thing... read the book it's great)
Now alpha male was all up and through this book and I was like HELL TO THE YEAH and for some reason I swoon like a school girl when he called her bella.. I think that is the sweetest freaking thing ever!... add on the hot italian and well yep you got a winner with me.
My only ugh with this book.. I understand that she was nice mixture but the blue eyes threw me a little.. yeah would have just preferred regular brown eyes and or hazel.. but we got blue... cool.
all that being said... great book, enjoyed it very much.
Blue Saffire has truly outdone herself with this new series! I thought I loved the Marriettes but Uri Donati puts them to shame! The book was so well written and flowed so well. I was on the edge of my seat on some parts and wanting to strangle some characters on other parts! All in all I loved every word! Looking forward to book 2!
I loved Uri and Val. I loved that she was an assassin just like him. I enjoyed that Uri was so in turn with Val that he knew when she was withholding information back from him.
Another great read by this author but Wyatt Black is still my favourite so far! :)
I don’t care how many times I reread this book — it hits every time. Uri stole my heart back in 𝕃𝔹𝟛, but in this one? He owns it. And Val? I’ve been fangirling since her first scene in the shoe store. These two are fate’s favorite puzzle, pushed together by the cunning Dons of the Caprisi and Donati families. But love doesn't come easy. There’s tension, misunderstandings (mostly from Val), and a fiery emotional rollercoaster that had me hooked.
The author delivers a storyline that’s sharp and intentional. Uri’s “touch her and die” energy is everything. He’s lethal and loyal, and Val is the chaos he didn’t know he needed. The banter? Chef’s kiss. The moments of unexpected humor? A warm hug in the storm. These characters aren’t just well-developed. They’re real. Messy, flawed, protective, and so easy to root for.
𝔽𝕒𝕞𝕚𝕝𝕪 𝕊𝕖𝕔𝕣𝕖𝕥𝕤 isn’t just a read. It’s a re-read. One of my top shelf, no-skip, all-the-feels favorites. If you love angst, passion, and two people learning how to fight for love, add this to your cart. Immediately.
This book was so good. Uri and Valentina were both hitters in the mafia who have very sad and tragic childhoods, when they meet the sparks fly but Val walks away from the handsome devil. They soon find themselves together and low and behold find out they have more connections than just title of hitter. When Vals dad tries to marry her off to a man she hates, Val runs straight to Uri for help and he helps her alright and himself, which could have some deadly consequences. Loved this book, well written and wonderful characters. The mystery aspect of this book had me from the beginning. The romance between these two was slow but worth it and was written well, the mystery really keep my attention. I love a good romance with a bit of mystery and this book delivered. When I found out who was behind the death of Vals mom and sister I was like Whoa! That was a shocker. Good Read, definitely worth it.
First read by this Author and it was an amazing read. I hope this isn't the end of an amazing story. I would loved to know what happens between Shannon and Lucas.
Before I started this book I read that it was a spin-off of the Legally Bound series so I was iffy as I haven't read that series. However, it wasn't a problem. The author did a good job of making sure all secondary characters had a good background "catch up".
I wish that there was more of the "Arse kicker" that was to be Val in this book. She seemed a little tamed by Uri. Also the book was jumpy, for instance one minute Pam and Nate were on the outs and then Valentina and Uri were at their wedding.
DNF'd I am absolutely baffled by this book's high rating. Grammar/punctuation/syntax are a hot mess! The story itself doesn't seem to be too bad but the writing is just...not good. Written in first person/present tense, the entire time I was reading it I felt like I was reading a rough outline for book someone planned to write in the future, not an actual published book! Allow me to share one particularly egregious (and gross) example of one of the many errors that make it clear that this book has not been edited, or even proofread for that matter: "I feel the bowel rise in my throat..." (yeah, I know, you're shocked). Finally, I'm not sure why this irked me so much but I just have to mention it. The heroine carefully explains that she is 1/16 African American, 1/16 Malaysian and 14/16 Italian and then not 2 pages later is saying her skin is the color of "milk chocolate." In case it's not clear that means she's 6.25% African American. Give me a break!
Despite a few spelling and editing errors, this story was really, really good. I'm super excited for the next installment in this series. I'm definitely going to go back and read the other books this author has written.
I can say that I expected more after seeing the ratings. The characters are very one-dimensional, and the drama is very contrived and forced. But even with that, I kept reading. I have to rate this book a solid MEH.
Boy oh boy oh boy! I thought that I left a review for this book years ago when I first read it but not seeing it. Currently re-reading all of her books in “best read order” So I’ll just do another one. Val and Uri are AMAZING! Not gonna lie. I’m prejudiced when it comes to Blue Saffire books. She is my ALL TIME FAVORITE independent author and I’ll download anything with her name on it. Why, you ask? Because I know it’s gonna be 🔥🔥🔥! I’ve never read anything by her that I didn’t love and she has a lot of books out. So if this is your first time, get ready. You will get addicted....lol And you’re gonna love Val, Uri and everyone else just as much as the rest of us True Blue Fans do.
This was my first read by Blue Saffire, but not my last!
Wow! Two enforcers, H/Uri and h/ Val working for both the Caprisi and Donato clans was a vivid mafia story based on a lot of misunderstanding (which tends to ruin relationships) but after they were resolved, "Hush: Family Secrets" by Blue Saffire was an memorable read with more twists and turns than a roller coaster!
I liked this book. He treated Valentina like a queen. I was kinda a brat about the parts I didn't like. I wouldn't be ok with my husband rushing out of bed to help a woman who wasn't family. I don't care how brotherly ur relationship, women are evil.

I loved this story! All the lies and scheming still came back to bite them in the arse anyway. Blue really knows how to weave an imaginative, creative and heart-stopping drama. This story had me captivated by the heart-gripping crime four year old Valentine witnessed. My heart aches for the innocence for the child that became Nera Morte. It's ironic how she and Uri had tragic childhoods. It's also ironic that they both fell in love with each other not knowing they had an early childhood connection. Tina claimed him as "mine" back then and they both claimed each other years later
Valentina wanted desperately to get out of an arranged marriage to a man she could not stand. Uri comes in to the rescue. But what they did not know was her father and their uncles played them well and they both fell into their trap. Both Valentina and Uri adjusted to their lives together and accepted who and what each other's role was in the underworld. Uri said that Valentina was his from the beginning and was determined not to stifle her life. Both of them can now live and love each other with no more nightmares. Now they have to work on their families, both his and hers. There is so much more to Uri than Val knows.
With all of this said, I hate cliffhangers, but Blue gave us enough conclusions to satisfy my curiosity. Now it's on to book two.I loved this story! OMG, this book is freaking awesome. It has everything! I was on the edge of my seat with the suspense, sexiness, sociopathicness, and downright sweetness of the Hero!!! Uri is soooo diabolical & sexy!
Valletina and Uri's bond was tangible...just beautiful. This principal guides the story just like a good narrator would. I recommend that everyone read this touch of awesomeness! I already 1-clicked Hush part II! Ms. Saffire is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
Great quotes: "Hello" “This is her husband motherf#%ker. Don’t call my wife’s phone again,” With that Uri hangs up.
Directly from Uri Dinato's full, sexy beautiful lips: "I tug her the short distance and crush my lips to hers. Her taste explodes on my lips. I wrap my free arm around her waist dragging her body into mine. She fits to me perfectly. Just one taste and I know she will always be mine. Everything has just changed."
"I have a special bullet for this bitch. She better watch it."
Well thank goodness that is now over. A little too drawn out for my liking, some very weird usage of words( editing required as well as spellcheck) and i mean what is with the stange numbering of the chapters? Even worse, in instances where neither of the main characters were speaking and instead were other side characters..there was no notation to that. It just got annoying.
I originally though that we were going to get a good story about an bad ass chick and a bad dude, but no in like two minutes after we find out Val is a hard ass assassin, she meets the man who apparently makes he cry for him and is suddenly the weakest of the lot. Sheesh already. 2.5 stars
I thought the story line was pretty good. If you read these books in the suggested reading order, as I am now doing, you would have developed some curiosity about Uri, a minor character in the Legally Bound series. This book ties together his connections to the characters in those books a little more thoroughly. I think it was excellent to have a mafia enforcer matched up with another mafia enforcer, and Valentina's back story explains how she was allowed to become the enforcer for her family, so they are well matched. Now, here are some things that I do not care for. Valentina actually has so little African American blood running through her veins, it is highly unlikely that she would have milk chocolate skintone. She might be described as beige, or even a slightly darker olive since she is mostly Italian, but I know from the interracial children in my own family that this doesn't ring true. Even in our highly regulated US, 7/8 white is considered white. Second, Blue makes a point of giving her mixed race characters that are in some degree African American , come with these unusual eye colors, usually green but in this case blue. Green is the most rare eye color in the world, and brown is the most common, so let's just go there, and acknowledge that brown eyes come in a variety of shades and are very pretty too. Now here is the thing that bugs me the most. This author has a shaky command of the English language, and even worse ability to form proper sentence structure. This is not to say that English is not her primary language, more that she has heard thing said incorrectly and is now inserting them in her books that way. She desperately needs an editor that can correct these errors, and possibly educate her on what is correct. I don't know if she aspires to be a NYT best selling author, but that won't happen until she figures out how to clean these things up. Errors like trimmers instead of tremors, saddles instead of sidle, peace instead of piece and world wind instead of whirlwind leave a reader scratching their head. Also there are many instances where the past tense is expressed as present, like text instead of texted and pass instead of past or passed, and finally lots of places where words are just plain left out. She has a problem with prepositions missing in sentences. For an avid book reader these types of editing errors disrupt the flow of any story and for me, I end up reading while looking for the next error. I have read more than 20 of Blue's books and this editorial insufficiency is common in all of them. I urge the author to find a decent editor and do a rewrite on all of these books, even though some are ten years old, because when you recommend a reading order, some people are going to go back and try to read them in the suggested order and while the storytelling is pretty good, these editorial problems become a turn off with each succeeding book.
Awesome series that I really enjoy. First reads by this author. I'm a fan. Strong and brave women. Men who fight horrific pasts to reach for better futures. And of course steamy connections. Really interesting story lines; fast paced, especially the first 2, but all them is just as good. so happy I have started binging this author. They are all intriguing with suspenseful plots. Along with their sizzling hot passions it will keep you turning pages until the end. I enjoyed every moment of their relationship It's one that I didn't put my Kindle down until I finished the story if are like myself you will enjoy it because it's a total hea. This is a Cracking romance.
Family Secrets was a pretty interesting read for me. It's been awhile since a heroine has been prorated as "strong" and is feared by powerful men. Valentina held her own against Uri. I was disappointed we didn't get to see Valentina be the bad ass she's portrayed to be esp. in the end when she goes after her stepmother. Which is why I gave it a 4-star. The prologue had be hooked, the events changed Valentina's life course and left her scared..it was only right we get to see her get her revenge in the end. Other than that the read was great! It focused mainly on Uri and Valentina's relationship instead of mafia aspect of it.
I am in the midst of reading the books according to reading order and all I can say is....EDITING AND ENGLISH classes are a must for this author. I found so many typos and erroneous word choices, it isn’t even funny. My low marks on these books isn’t because the books are all that bad, a few actually really have good storylines. I can’t rate them higher because of the BS editing job. I mean cringeworthy errors!! I urge Ms. Saffire to yank these books and spend some serious time in rewrite/editing mode, and then release them again. BTW, the covers need to change. Quality covers are also important. All the typos and errors make me unable to base my review on the stories themselves.
3 1/2 stars The push and pull of this relationship had me riveted to the story. Valentina was a beast, but I wanted to see more of her in action. Once she got with Uri, she kind of buried her dangerous side. It did rear it's head a couple of times, but I wanted her to show her true side completely. Although Uri and Valentina's relationship developed quickly, it did work for me. Their chemistry was believable and they were hot together. I wish this was little bit longer because I really enjoyed this couple.
Again with the grammatical errors🙄! Overall this was ridiculously crazy that I couldn’t put it down. The outlandish connection between Angela and Shannon… there were so many moments where I rolled my eyes. And yet, I can’t stop going down the rabbit trail of hate reading this series and all the stories connected.
I like Val. I knew I would. I like Uri. I’m really confused by Luca, Pam, Nathan, and Shannon. And I’m not sure I care to read their stories.
While simultaneously eye rolling, I’m sure I’ll be reading more from this author.
