I really really really wanted to love this book, but I don't. I had high expectations especially after reading Run. First this is not a romance book. The storyline was good but honestly if Foster and Victoria were in the same room together more than 3 times that was a lot. 80% of the book they were separated spending time with everyone but themselves. Victoria had a closer relationship with Anya and Mrs Graham the housekeeper than with the "love of her life", there was so much couples angst between the two I don't even want them together. Truly. I did like the mystery of the Run and the backstory of Foster's family. I HATED Foster and Victoria as a couple and I honestly found Victoria to be a damaged Bitch. Where Run was well balanced with sex and mystery, This story was way too heavy on broken unforgiving troubled history of the couple. Victoria (Tory) just comes across as she hates Foster and he is too pussy whipped to just cut her loose. Also the ending hints at trouble between Anya and Dare and Victoria is too damaged a heroine to be giving Anya relationship advice. I'm going to stick to just re reading Run over and over and over and pray that Eve doesn't put Anya and Dare through some angst filled relationship nightmare in the next book. If you want to know about Fosters dark side it's an ok read. I actually loved his dark side and family secrets. If you are expecting the hot sex and sexy chemistry with a taste of the dark like Run was written, I would wait for book 3.
Five 🌟 +. I loved how Eve combined Run with The Auction. The reader wants to pick Aya and Tori up and send them to their happy places because their men are maddening. Dare and Foster are so clueless about love. But the story lines get the stars. Oh my gosh, so many sinister and evil people who literally think they have the right to take children, teens, women and men as things to be bought and sold no matter their social economic background. And yes it is not just in books. I read that "human trafficking" is more profitable than drugs to the underground, mafias, and cartels. God help us all. But Eve brings you up close and personal to these themes. So Master is up next. I know what i will be doing today.
A bit flat but I could have gone with it being just an average love story. Tipping point was the poor editing. Publishers do an author a true disservice when they don't clean up basic spelling and grammar errors.
Interesting premise, awful execution. It’s more appalling and noteworthy to these characters that one’s grandfather was basically a mobster thug than that the other two women were basically held against their wills as abused sex slaves. Silly, is a very generous and nice description.
What a great read I like they came together and he was able to help her sometimes thing work out better than you expect at the end it work out 5 stars Highly recommended
I really didn't like this instalment, as when I read the run, Forster seemed such a likable chappie, and in this book he's character just changed. I found it hard to believe in his turn about personality, even thou the author did give a plausibly explanation for his hidden character flaw, but I just could not get his first impression of introduction out of my head, so every time he did something that was cold and dark! I did not believe in him and this storyline as it just didn't seem genuine. It seemed as if wanted to be like his friend Dare, who I absolutely love reading.
I tried,i disliked. I thought the story would be about macy and Foster, that made me a little bit uncomfortable but faire enough it is another girl so i keep reading... there is absolutely no passion or chemistery between the characters i was really dissapointed by this book after reading the run which was a masterpiece (not to many scenes between foster and tori). I didnt finish it i dropped it a few chapters before the end because once the characters stated their feelings and explained about the past there was nothing to look forward to. Not worth going through the end.
I wanted to be as enthralled with this book as I was with Run. It was a good overall story, and I liked seeing the dark side of Foster and how he became the man he is. However, the couple you were supposed to fall in love with were barely together! Most of the book was the two of them angsting about their relationship to other people. Also, you get teased with not nearly enough steamy scenes! The couples relationship could have transcended to a different plane, but unfortunately it lacks some fire for me.
This is book 2 in this series by this author. This is an interracial story.
This is Tori and Foster's story. I like this couple but I did not enjoy this book as much as book 1. There was a lot of narrative in this story explaining about the couples circumstances and issues. I would have preferred to see a lot more dialogue between the couple and them spending time trying to repair their damaged relationship.
Another great book. This actually had me yelling at it like I was watching a movie. I don't know if it's because I've read a lot of similar books but the mystery on who was behind everything wasn't hard to figure out. Once Tori and Foster had talked about certain things and everything came to light the book kinda just ended. But it was still a good story.
P.S. Eve what the hell have you been reading or watching to get some of these scenes?!?
I have to admit I started reading this book three different times and put it down. I got to chapter 6 and decided to read the end. After reading the last chapter I went back to chapter 6 and continued. I say all this to say ... the book was good and I'm glad I decided to stick with it. I love all of Eve Vaughn books and can hardly wait for the next one in this series.
Another awesome suspense romance saga from Eve!! I only wished that Foster could've shutdown every trafficking operation, not just Winthrop's. I also can't wait to know the fate of Aya and Dare's relationship. It seems Foster and Dare have the same issues with women they love. Foster will be the same to Tori in time... But we'll see!!
Foster is the man. Ms. Vaughn you have done it again, this book was a page turner and told the story of what ,an will do for love. Dark side and all I LOVE ME SOME FOSTER.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book, especially Foster. He was very strong and dangerous. I loved every minute of it. Is was nice to see that Tori didn't just lay down and take what was done to her. Please read "Run" and then "The Auction".
I would havexpect given the book 4 stars but Tori was annoying as hell sometimes. Otherwise I enjoyed it, Foster needed a better heroine. Looking forward to the continuation of Date and Aya's story
Sequel to Run by the same author. Foster finds his love. It was pretty obvious who the antagonist was. Don't understand how on earth the hero took so darn long to figure it out. Made the book a bit silly.
