Gillian M. Berrow (G.M. Berrow) is a writer and television industry professional living in Brooklyn, New York. When she was little, she aspired to become either a princess or a magical pony. Things seem to be right on schedule.
I'll admit that I have a little pile of these to read, purely to help me catch up on my reading challenge -- just over a week into 2020 and I'm already behind!
This was an odd little book. A barely there plot and no character development at all. I've always adored My Little Pony, so I did enjoy this, however I'd only recommend it if you are a fan. It's probably aimed at newly independent readers, and may well be much more enjoyable to a younger reader.
These MYP chapter books are exceedingly strange. They read as though written by a machine and touched up by a writer. Unusual words and plots, poor grammar and poorly constructed sentences pop up randomly. Trixie enjoys them even though the characters act excessively oddly - this time, everypony wants to throw a festival for Luna, which she doesn't want, so she visits them in their dreams and gives them screwy ideas which they implement. She is firm and repetitive in telling everyone she doesn't want a party - yet they continue to plan one for her, which seems terribly rude or even passive aggressive to me. The parts of the book where Luna's statecraft work are mentioned are the best.
I loved the added details of bat ponies which are now my favourite creatures in the mlp universe! It was interesting to get a deeper insight into Luna as we don’t see much of her until seasons 8/9 in the series and she’s one of my favourite characters.

total guilty (well actually i have no guilt) pleasure read. I love my little pony and the fun books that are companions to the series. This was a birthday present and a delightfully fun read that I would recommend to anyone who has a soft spot for princess luna (she's my favorite princess). i love the subtle depiction of anxiety, social awkwardness and shyness that princess luna experiences. this book picks up right where some of her storylines from season 5 left off. i wish there was better modeling of consent BUT it was a really lovely book and a great opportunity to get to see a closer look into the life and mind of the very private princess luna!
The book is called Princess Luna and The Festival of the Winter Moon by G.M. Berrow. My friend and I love my little pony so when we got this book from the book box we screamed. Most of all we loved the games. If your child does AR its 2 points. Its a book for $10:00 on scholastic. I think its perfect for ages 5 through 12.
i was worried this would read weird or out of character but since it's written by one of the show writers it reads just like an episode! the writing style is a little bit awkward - it's the kinda too-hard-but-also-too-easy stuff that's written for kids by people who aren't entirely sure what kids know. that aside, this book is fantastic. i thought the was kind of unnecessary and could have been cut out but other than that this went way beyond my expectations. i love what this does to the canon and also some of the little in-jokes and references. lookin forward to reading more of these books :33
me reading books like im in elementary school again <3
this was a nice cozy read. feels like a fluffy mlp episode and honestly i wish we could've gotten a "princess luna gets a summer sun celebration type thing" ep she deserves it !!
it's so perfect for luna's character, the way her guilt and anxieties just boil up. sad horse !! would have made a nice conclusion for after the tantabus episode
But rather than making a rational decision, Luna stormed into the throne room, full of feelings. "HOW COULDEST THOU DO THIS TO US?!"
This was not a very good book, but it did a good job of characterizing Princess Luna. I liked how there were some references to the show (banana peel pudding, bat ponies) and that we learned more about her role as a princess. The overarching plot about the party kind of bugged me, firstly because the pacing was all over the place (why did we start at the Summer Sun Celebration and then jump to Hearth's Warming Eve?) and secondly because no one really seemed to be listening to Luna. But it was still fun to read from her POV, so I'll take it.
Luna as a character is so majestic and elegant, I was ecstatic to find a book based on her. Like the other MLP books, this one gets infinite praise for authenticity in character voice, structure, dynamic, and originality. This really felt like an episode of FiM. This was a lovely lovely lovely book that I just adore.
I know this is a kids book but I love my little pony so I am giving it a review :D I loved this book , I always thought Luna was very selfless and under appreciated and I am glad she gets her own festival! The book was written very well and used words which I really don’t hear often in kids books but the story was adorable and I love Princess Luna and Princess Celestia together <4

Read this to my little sister earlier today and she loved it. Lots of cute little trivia about her favorite character. Plus she really enjoyed the activity pages at the back.

A sweet story focusing on Princess Luna.
Following the Summer Sun Celebration, which honors Princess Celestia, the Cutie Mark Crusaders are inspired to organize the Festival of the Winter Moon to celebrate Princess Luna and her important role in life in Equestria. But Luna is still uncomfortable with attention and feels guilty and self-conscious about the damage she caused as Nightmare Moon, so she sets out to thwart the festival plans.
An odd little story that is entertaining nonetheless. Nicely written. Ties into the MLP universe well. It was interesting to see things from Luna's point of view and learn more about her.
At the back are different games and activities such as journal pages, writing prompts, a maze, and a word search.
Overall, a nice story that ties in well with the show and the established characters.
