Secrets are like our past. They always come back to screw up our future.
As the French Quarter drags into the Summer heat, Elemental Witch Samantha Hawthorne makes plans for her future, which includes getting through her imposed stint as a Cleric and pinning down a date for her wedding. All plans disappear when her Air Elemental makes a rash decision that tips the balance of power out of Sam's favor.
Will Sam and her friends be able to mend her shattered power while being investigated for the murder of a local mambo, a churning storm, the spirit of a cursed ring and the appearance of her fiancé's ex, whose power is even greater than his own?
Born in Pensacola, Florida, Phaedra is the eldest of four children. She began writing in notebooks with her best friend in middle school. After leaving college for a job in the Graphic Arts industry, Phaedra continued her love of writing in her spare time and was lucky enough at a writer's conference to meet Dean Wesley Smith, who later became her writing mentor, along with his wife, the bestselling mystery/fantasy/romance/science fiction writer, Kristine Kathryn Rusch.
Phaedra lives in Atlanta, Georgia. When not writing, she and her daughter spend their time playing games, letterboxing, or watching anime.
An excellent book but a bit of a heartbreaking story. Sam and Crwys are engaged but things are happening to both which has far reaching results! The mystery is the main story but there are a few twists to it. To say anything would spoil this entire book! Have the Kleenex ready as you will find it a tear jerker! I love the series and the book is packed with so many new revelations and a few surprises! I highly recommend you read this in one sitting as it is hard to put down.
I couldn’t remember this series at all. It’s been many years. I get it now. The grammar alone in this horrible book hurt my soul. I need to go read something real to restore my faith in humanity.
Sam wants to set a date for her wedding and get through her time as a Cleric but things never go as she plans. What should have been an easy investigation turns into a mess when her Air Elemental makes a disastrous decision that leaves Sam vulnerable. Crwys knows something is wrong but he doesn’t want to discuss it with Sam. A storm is brewing in New Orleans and it is not your typical storm.
This is another hit in the Eldritch Files series. Turbulent and mystery fill the pages to make this a great page turner.

I would have given this book five stars but the ending gutted me. I thought it was unfair and left things unsolved for same. I felt Phaedra dangled a golden apple in front of Sam's face only to snatch it away in a puff of smoke with no warning and no explanation. Sam and her mom's story deserved more than that. This book was the best when it came to its plot bbc.co theme and the building of new characters allies? And enemies alike. It enraptured me and I couldn't put the book down, but again, I can't in good conscious give this book five stars for the ending. My heart hurts.
Not a fan of the ending, I can only hope that there is more going on that we will find out in Book 7. Sam and Crwys belong together and I'm not at all thrilled about another aspect of the book, but for spoilers sake, not revealing anything. So while I still enjoyed the story, I was quite bummed at the end, so we'll see what happens. I'm hoping there are more books to come after 7, don't it to be over!
It was so hard to put it down, let me put it to you this way it is 4:30 in the morning and I have to be up at 7:30. But it is worth it. There was so much action and intense moments. There was a loss and I do not think this person is being grieved properly. As a result, I did not like the ending. I really hope it is resolved quickly I the next book.
Sam loses one of her elementals. An evil spirit is trying to regain its physical form. Sam learns how to bond to her elementals. An old "flame" of Crwys wants to eliminate Sam and take her place. A sky battle ensues. Sam's mother puts her life at risk by attacking her enemy.
