Sheriff’s Deputy Zak is one of the few black bear shifters in a colony of grizzlies. He’s used to taking guff from his comrades, but it’s all in good fun. He’s fought beside these guys for many years and it’s time they all stopped roaming and picked a place to settle. Grizzly Cove seemed as good a place as any when the idea was proposed, and Zak likes the slow-moving police work in the sleepy coastal town.
When his job takes him into closer proximity to the lovely Tina, though, he finds he can’t resist her. Could it be he’s finally found his mate? And when adversity strikes, will she turn to him, or run into the night? Zak will do all he can to make sure she chooses him.
Bianca D'Arc is the USA Today bestselling author of over 100 romance titles. She has been published traditionally, by a few notable small presses, and indie. Before becoming a full-time writer, she ran a laboratory, a legal department, and jetted around the country on business while working for a Fortune 500 engineering firm.
Night Shift is the third book in Bianca D’Arc’s Grizzly Cove series, and it’s another quick read that I had hoped for more from. At first, I thought I would enjoy this one. There was more to this one that the two prior books, introducing us to a larger world, but it quickly went downhill.
As with the prior books there was no big moment where everything came together. We were introduced to many things, but they never went anywhere. This felt like an introduction of what is to come rather than the third book in a series.
All in all, this one has guaranteed I won’t be reading more of the series.
This book is a bit more or way more sexier than the previous one. But I prefer the last one, even without the steamy scene, just romance. Why? Because it was slow and cute. This one was cute, but I was expected something more from the last book and its preview for this one.
Let's get started with the story, the last Baker's girl from the bakery getting hot with deputy. But I wanted more was the intrigue about the vampire-check, why?-not check, creature-not really check. Romance good but I was expected more romance and maybe less of I want to jump on him.
Still I like it since Tina was wild, easy going, bubbly, kind. Zak was loyal and a cooker. I was just hoping for a more developed story, more would be great.
Tina is a women unafraid to go after what she wants amd when deputy Zac is assigned to protect her at night he becomes the one that she wants. When Zac finds out he is the one asked to protect Tina, the object of his fascination since he met her, believe me he didn't raise any protest. These two were moving quite slow until another male threatened Zac's life with Tina. And with a new threat looming on the edge of the cove Zac and the other wears have to make some tough choices. This book was a great short romance with a touch of action and a bit of sex. This is a nice easy read for a rainy day, or when you just want to escape. It is a book filled with an excellent plot that mixes well with the other books but the romance section is complete. Overall it was a great sexy read
Zak and Tina. Listened to this one on audio too and it was entertaining but still kinda boring here and there despite the short length. Tina is the youngest Baker sister and Zak is the sexy deputy. He's a bit smaller than some of the other bears, being a black bear. But I can vouch that Black bears are still scary cause I once had one in our back yard! There's more action in this one and more evidence of evil afoot. Nothing is resolved about that, but the romance between Zak and Tina is sweet, if boring.
The right sister The series is really starting to take off with this book. I love how the author really brought the danger and excitement right from the beginning of the story. This couple is the perfect pairing of steadfast and sweet and the emotions that they find on the way to their HEA are sure to touch your heart. I really can’t wait to find out who comes to move into the Cove next.
I like these books because they follow on from the other series and we get to keep in touch with them all I love Bianca D' Arc books Always a good read .
The youngest of the three sisters, Tina, suddenly finds herself a “babysitter” of such, after a harrowing experience in the bakery late one evening. Since both of her older sisters have been swept away by their mates, Brody, her new brother in law, and the town’s sheriff, has tasked his deputy Zak with making sure that Tina is kept out of harms way. But when trouble suddenly shows up at her doorstep, Zak is more than happy to step in and be the hero. Anything for his mate, even if she doesn’t know it yet. Tina has had the hots for the young deputy since the first time she laid eyes upon him, but wonders if he feels the same or not. If he doesn’t show interest soon, she just might have to take matters into her own hands, and just maybe, jump his bones! Will trouble keep this pair on their toes and running, or will it bring them together, the way Fate seems to have arranged?
Series: Tales of the Were: Grizzly Cove #3 Rating: 3 stars - I liked it
Like the previous books, this was a quick and enjoyable fated mates story. I enjoyed Zak and Tina’s relationship and how Zak took his time before discussing mating or marriage. I also liked how Tina helped Zak achieve his dream of opening a restaurant and building his house. This story also introduces us to the first vampire of the series and discusses a lot of the other types of creatures in this world, like mermaids, selkies, and fae. While I probably won’t continue this series, I did enjoy seeing these three sisters find love in this small town filled with bears.
Trigger Warning: abusive parent referenced; death of a parent referenced;
Still short simple story, but starting to introduce more complex plot and back story. Still home town love meets night shifter, and they start to cook up some sweet love. Enjoyed this story, a little confusion on one of the character development choices. But excited to see if it will still hold the sweet love while devolving a wilder plot.
Tina is being protected by Zak now that Nell and Ashley have moved in with Brody and Tom. One night a vampire (bloodletter) comes in wounded. He is the master of the Seattle area. Zak helps him. There seems to be a sea monster in the waters off Grizzly Cove. Zak and Tina get together.
Love this little start up series Night Shift (Grizzly Cove) Bianca D’Arc Totally, Totally, Totally loved Zak and Tina’s story. Actually I’ve enjoyed this entire little series of shorts/novella’s so far. For those of you who have not had the privilege of reading this new series she has the first three bundled together “Grizzly Cove” is the title and is available on Amazon. Night Shift is the third installment to Grizzly Cove and I loved it. Zak loves his new assignment of guarding Tina at the Bakery during the night shift. He’s been at it a week and he and Tina had a chance to get to know each other. When Tina was hoping to spend a little snuggle time with Zak an unexpected visitor comes into the Bakery. Master Hariam (Master Vampire) was attacked and his boat and crew destroyed. He is on the verge of losing it due to the severe blood loss. Seems there is something evil in the waters of Grizzly Cove. Zak’s first instinct is to protect Tina but Hiram is fighting very hard to keep control. I loved that Zak offered the vamp his blood without a second guess. This little act plays a major role in a roundabout way with the way the story concludes. (Not telling you LOL) Zak the gentleman that he is has a feeling (and so does his bear) that Tina is his one. Not familiar with these new feelings he tries to take it slow so he doesn’t freak Tina out. Now Tina on the other hand just wants to jump his bones. Zak plans a picnic for his first date with Tina taking her to the property he just purchased for his future home to be built. Everything is going as planned until Tina speeds it up and jumps his bones. I had to chuckle. As much as Zak wanted to continue in that direction he put the brakes on. Remember this is all new to him. They decided to take a walk down to the water and he wanted to show off his property to her. Then the unthinkable happens. Tina is attacked by something coming out of the water. Poor Zak needs to shift in order to save her. Gotta give Tina credit she did not freak out. She actually likes his bear. Get the book and see what happens. Bianca has a way with her characters that I totally love and she manages to drop names of her other characters from her other reads. Everything ties together and I love that. Her next Grizzly Cove release is “Alpha Bear” and this will be a full length novel. I read the teaser at the end of Night Shift and oh I so can’t wait for this next one. 5* Bianca and happy reading to you all.
Tina was the youngest sister who owner the local bakery.
Sheriff's Deputy Zak is one of the few black bear shifters in a colony of grizzlies. He worked the night shift and knew the bakery and the sisters. The sheriff was mated to the oldest sister, Nell. Zak really liked the pastries and coffee, but it was the youngest sister Tina that stole his attention. They would talk all the time while business was slow at the bakery. One night around closing a customer came in, but not a normal customer. A vampire, but something was horribly wrong. He was bloody was weak, trying to hold on to sanity as he made his way inside. Zak quickly sent a text alerting Big John to come now. Master Hiram needed wine, if all things. Tina was very nervous about seeing him there. Zak told her to go upstairs and grab all the wine she had, and not to come back down. Just leave the bottles at the bottom of the steps. Zak felt that helping an elder vampire would be the best. He was a smaller bear, less magic. He offered to give Hiram his wrist. This act was greatly appreciated, and Hiram took it. Hiram was attacked on his yacht by something in the water. A true mystery. Tina knew she liked Zak, but he was showing her that he would protect her. This cemented her growing feelings, she wanted Zak. While waiting on back up, Tina crept downstairs and offered the wine to the vampire. She was nervous and curious. She was strong and not entirely scared. What could wine do for a vampire? How was he brutally attacked ?
This third book in the series starts out with us seeing Zak's new job duties as the Sheriff's Deputy. He is still on duty watching out for the Baker sisters after the reporter showed up in the last book. He has drawn the night shift duty watching over Tina. What happens when yet another stranger shows up in town? Who stumbles inside the bakery and what happens? Why does Zak tell Tina to get upstairs and stay there? After she leaves and help has been called for, what does Zak do that could be considered incredibly stupid? What happens when John and the Sheriff walk in while the incident is taking place? When Zak asks Tina out on an official date of a picnic, after the incident at the bakery, When Zak and Tina take a walk down by the water, what happens? Why does the calvary come charging in? What happens after the town meeting is called to discuss what happened with Tina and Zak at the cove? What 'delivery' is made at the bakery and who is it from? What comes in the mail for Tina? Who is it from? What does she do about it and what dream does she set in motion for someone? Read this book to find out. Another fun read!
Zak Flambeau: 2nd sheriff in town... brown bear, so smaller than the others, but it's okay - he can hold his own; assigned to be with Tina when she is in the bakery in the evening - and he's getting to know Tina;
Tina Baker: has the evening shift at the bakery - and they are pretty much the only food place open at night;
Hiram Abernathy: master vampire in the region; was in his yacht, checking out bears when attacked by a terrible sea monster; drags himself into the bakery, bleeding and almost on actual death's door (Zak fed him... then Tina provided wine);
Zak and Tina get to know each other as they spend evenings together... and they work together to save Hiram... and begin to date... when attacked by a smaller sea monster when they were picnicking at the inlet, below Zak's under-construction home, Zak shifts to his bear form to chew off the arm/tentacles wrapped around Tina's leg;
and Zak kisses Tina, and he and his bear know she is his... and he tries to be patient, to allow her feelings to grow... but.... all is good

I purchased Night Shift as part of an anthology by Bianca D'Arc.
Sheriff’s Deputy Zak and Tina Baker both are working the Night Shift. It is Tina's regular shift at the bakery she owns with her two sisters and after recent trouble in town Zak, a brown bear shifter is assigned to watch over Tina and keep her safe. She thinks he is hot and wants to see what will develop with the hot Cajun Shifter and he soon realizes that he has found his mate.
Late on night a wounded vampire master arrives at the bakery in need of help and Zak sends Tina to her apartment to keep her safe and does what he has to to keep her safe. Master Hiram was attacked on his yacht that was lost along with his crew out in Grizzly Cove. This sets up for the excitement in the rest of Night Shift as Zak and Tina move slowly forward in their romance.
This was a fun short read. Bear shifters have begun to build their own town, and human women are coming to join the town. Mates are being found amid danger and evil. Tina is a baker and watched her two sisters find their mates. She is getting used to the idea of shifters and is spending time with the sexy deputy while he protects her. She holds back her feelings as the tension builds between her and Zak. Zak tries to be a gentleman, moving slowly so as not to frighten Tina. Tina wants to move faster. With a big decision to help Zak realize his dreams, Tina shows how much she cares, and they are able to voice their feelings. This is part of a series, and I look forward to reading more.
I had a chance to read this story in exchange for an honest review.
finally, the war against evil makes its appearance at the normally peaceful community of Grizzly Cove. the area's master vampire is nearly killed while at sea just off shore. then Tina is attacked while visiting the shoreline by a clearly magical and very large sea beast. things are astir. Zack saves Tina when the injured and blood starved vampire comes into the bakery....he tells her how to act then donates blood forging an alliance. Tina and zak fall in love and mate. sequel to follow. Re-read in april, 2017. Loved it all over again. Re-read again in June, 2019.
Night Shift (Grizzly Cove #3) is the strongest of the first three novellas in this series. Tina is the youngest Baker sister and her romance is with Zak, the town deputy. There is character development and real relationship development rather than instant love. Yay! There is also more to the plot than their relationship. It introduces some conflict that is going to be dealt with in the next book, which is a full novel. Their relationship felt more organic than those of the other two couples.
This is the same here the heroine is the final sister of the trio of sisters who r the only humans in a town full of bear shifters.
- I remember the hero was cool since in his bear form he was smaller and even his human form but he was a dead shot sniper
- I remember he had some kind of more magic than the rest like a witch descent or something oh yeah he came from the swamps and those believe and see a lot of that (kinda like the Disney movie the princess and the frog)
I wrote the same review for book one and two of this series. I said, "Short, shallow, repetitive, and hokey. But cotton candy sweet if you're into that sort of thing. Mechanical wring and editing seems fine. " This holds true for this third book too. But I feel like the author did something different here. She tried to bring in a larger plot (the third book seems an odd place to do this, but ok), one that didn't get solved in this single book. So, while the romantic pairing stands alone, the actual plot does not.
