By day she is a high-powered hustler with an enviable career, while at night, in her dreams, she plays a deadly assassin. Tormented by the crimes she has witnessed, Zahra doesn’t tell anyone about her nightmares. But, when she meets her new boss, Mr. Jayce Tohmatsu, she soon realizes that they have more in common than just the company they work for, and that her dreams are the storytellers of her long-forgotten past.
Unable to resist the magnetic pull between them, Zahra and Jayce embark on an all-consuming and passionate affair–one that is built on love as well as lies. As Zahra’s dreams intensify, she will discover that she is not the only one keeping secrets, that the past is never truly forgotten and that all debts must be paid, one way or another.

Not many books are able to capture me in the first few pages. This one certainly did. Great introduction to all the characters and some very interesting personalities. Suspense, romance, intrigue, and laughter all in one!! Brilliant and I loved it.
Strong characters and storyline. Great writing style. I felt like I was in this story and read it in one sitting. I will definitely be reading this series and will recommend to anyone that wants a good love story with insight into reincarnation.
I picked up the box set (books #1-3) in a kindle sale a few years ago. Not even sure why as I knew nothing about the story line or the author - but I guess a $2 price tag and a few late night drinks while online book shopping probably had something to do with my purchase(:-P). All a bit fortuitous in the end though, as this year I needed a book where the lead character has a name starting with Z (not many out there!) for a reading challenge and the lead character in this one is Zahra (Yeah!). The author also happens to be an Aussie Author (which I didn't know when I purchased) and I do like to support local talent.
Anyway, this book started off quite interesting. It had that feel of the Emma Thompson/Kenneth Branagh 1990s movie "Dead Again" (which I always refer to as the "scissor" movie because of the scissor scene.....eew) which is about a couple who are reincarnated to right the wrongs of past mistakes. This book is along a similar thread in that we have Zahra and Jayce who are both having nightmare flashbacks from Ancient Greece times where she (to the best of the reader's knowledge) is an Assassin and he is one of her many victims. Their paths cross in modern day New York and that is where the story starts (and doesn't really progress much from that....)
As I said, I quite liked the first half of the book - but had some real issues with the second half. Firstly, someone needs to tell Jayce that the withdrawal method is not an acceptable contraception method and is not a safe sex measure. While they are at it, someone should mention to him that punishing your girlfriend who you have only really just met because she won't tell you about her past life dreams by going and sleeping with a stripper is probably not a good move. Yep. Jayce is our unstable rich boy who cheats because people don't act the way he wants them to. Where is an assassin when you need one.....
There were lots of typos/word missing in the kindle version I read which felt a little unprofessional and unfortunately an interesting idea was ruined by a very unlikable male lead. So this was a bit of a hit and a miss for me...
I may read book 2/3 down the track as I purchased the box set and I am always looking for Aussie Author's for reading challenges and because I am secretly hoping that in terms of Zahra (the assassin) that history does repeat itself.......sorry Jayce....but just NO!

>Book review – The Secrets of their Souls >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st book in the Souls series and ends a bit up in the air. Jayce is a powerful business man from Tokyo that just took over a large company in NY. Zahra is one of the managers in the NY Company. She suffers from vivid and sometimes violent dreams. Jayce and Zahra break the rule of inter-office dating and start a relationship. One night Jayce hears Zahra talking in her sleep about characters he used to dream about. He realizes they were soul mates from many past lives. >Jayce waits for Zahra to talk to him about her dreams and doesn’t understand when she doesn’t. She doesn’t understand what is going on. There are a lot of tangents in this story, such as Zahra’s running group, Jayce’s criminal brother, vegetarianism and Jayce’s cheating. As Jayce and Zahra accept the truth of reincarnation and balancing out Karma, the story struggles to move on in the aftermath of Jayce’s indiscretion. >I enjoyed reading about the strength of Zahra. She is a strong woman who doesn’t really need Jayce, which is refreshing. The family dynamics of Jayce’s family are only hinted at, but seem to be set up for some sort of power struggle in future stories. These characters were also in the James Thomas series, but shown after their HEA. Reading about their beginning is interesting. > This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. If a reader has an aversion to reincarnation, this book is not for you.
This was a good read (no pun intended), which ended as a cliff hanger! This is book #1 in the Soul Series (The Secrets of Their Souls) and to know how the story ends you definitely have to read Book #2 The Ghosts of Their Pasts. The main characters Jayce and Zahra both have had interesting, frightening, and intriguing dreams. They have each seen the other in their dreams and were taken aback realizing that they had shared possibly multiple past lives! One has done something horrendous to the other and they are trying to come to terms with the fact that there is a debt owed! Not sure the debt can be paid, they find that love is sometimes not the only thing required; (some people would say that love is not enough, but I personally don't agree with that, sometimes love requires forgiveness, strength, or a sacrifice of some kind -- the question is are we willing to give each other what is needed for love to thrive and one-sided-ness never works!)
Whether you believe in past lives or not is irrelevant, if you believe in love and it's power to heal wounds, then you'll enjoy this book! Our lives are connected and we can recognize each other on a soul level (definitely my personal belief and Biblical too!) Jayce and Zahra love each other, have hurt and mistrust towards each other and are trying to find answers and solutions that will bring them peace and resolve the debt. Looing forward to book #2!
Zahra “Za Za” Foster (29, Persian, Mason Corp lead interior designer, aka Raven) continued to have violent reoccurring dreams. She told Jemma Foster (younger sister) she was working on the presentation for Jayce Tohmatsu Jr. (30, stepson, Mason Corp VP, Tohmatsu Ltd. CEO). Manhattan, NY. Mason Corp. building. Zahra, & Holly McCabe (asst. lead designer) put on their presentation.
Where will Zahra, & Jayce life adventure take them?
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written cultural paranormal romance book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great cultural paranormal romance movie, or better yet a mini TV series. It was just OK for me so I will only rate it at 3/5 stars.

As the first book in a new series (to me) I was intrigued from the start. I was never sure where the story would lead. Zahra is a successful designer in a large Incorporation and Jayce is the son of the new owner & has become the manager & Zahra's new boss. On the outside Zahra seems to have her life and career firmly set but at nighttime she experiences very vivid lifelike and disturbing dreams. It seems that Jayce has had the same dreams in the past and are linked through a previous life. Jayce and Zahra are inexplicably drawn to each other but their romance does not go smoothly - you will have to read the story to find out why. The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but luckily my copy had an excerpt for the next book in the series that picks up where book one left off. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Well paced and kept my interest all the way through. At times I didn't like some of the things Jayce did, but a good book will always bring out emotions in the reader.
When Jayce and Zahra meet for the first time they feel an attraction and familiarity that they don't understand. As their relationship progresses it becomes clear that they have met in a previous life and that Zahra has killed Jayce in that life. This leads to misunderstandings and the breakup of their relationship. The problems are not solved by the end of the book, but continued into the next book of the series. This is a well written book with likeable characters, and the explanation of reincarnation is very interesting.
This was a really strange book. The lady's name was Zahra and I kept reading it as Feebee. Anyhow, she and her new boss fall madly in love (and the sex is pretty good) but she has these nightmares where she is an assassin and kills him. He had the same nightmares as a child and believes that they knew each other in a different life time.
Absolutely nothing happens in the book to keep it interesting except when she is hit by a car. Way to go, car!
I didn’t care much for this book. I found the main male character manipulative and a liar. The female main character was fine but I felt let that make character get back into her good graces too soon. He was not deserving of her and it’s apparent to anyone reading the book.
Once started I couldn’t put it down. The story drew me and I was hooked. I did however notice similarities between this and the jt series.which I loved. The story of zahara and Jayce was compelling I liked the way they were connected by their past lives. Look forward to book 2🤓
I did not like how the story ended or didn't as the case maybe. I suppose it is meant for me to read a further book but I was so left wanting to turn the next page and left in the air...........
I really enjoyed this novel I was intrigue into the story right a way with Jemma ,Sarah all the character about Raven and the past to the present and the love between them in the present and the steamy scenes ,made me laugh and mad screaming at the pages must read!!!
If you enjoy stories about past lives, this is definitely worth a read. A book about love, betrayal and soulmates, follow Jayce and Zahra on a journey of discovery.
