In the beginning of the sixth book, Raj Malik receives Elaine’s message and then the “head of the U.S. Secret Service operations in Europe” (Loc. 27) calls Leon Gilmour, a professional extractor, who rescues American assets from neutral or hostile countries. He must extract a young American agent who is suffering from hypothermia and wolf bites. It also seems that she is held hostage by an insurgent and Leon must deal with him too. Afterwards, he must destroy any evidence of struggle or gunshots before the police find them.

Some important events and secrets from Leon’s past are uncovered, though the hint given by the narrator in one of the first chapters will definitely make the readers of the previous books recognise him immediately. However, I will not reveal the name of the character. I can only add that life can sometimes be very ironic.

In this book, we can see how twisted Cattoretti’s mind is (more than ever if you ask me), what plans he has got regarding Elaine, her family and her saviour. How evil can a criminal mastermind get? However, after returning home, Elaine hatches a plan to find Cattoretti’s hideout, because he has kidnapped Tony, but also to find out where Lexy and Cattoretti’s son was taken without the mother’s consent.

The book is full of amazing elements: split missions through which the agents find more information about Cattorretti and his accomplices, epic fights in unexpected places, adrenaline, suspense, but also a bit of humour every now and then. However, the story is not over yet because we have to explore the seventh book.

Eh. This series is getting repetitive but I can't say this wasn't a great book. There are twists that I really enjoy and the very end shocked me.

The cat and mouse game between Elaine and Giorgio has become predicable but the sub plots in between are what make it worth reading. There was a lot of unfinished business in this novel and I'm excited to pick up the next.

I am a huge fan of Mike Wells' novels and having reviewed all other books in this series, I can assure you that this doesn't disappoint. Packed full of detail and action sequences I was gripped from the outset. Mike's experience as a thriller author shines through from the first page as this novel picks up from where Book 5 precariously left off.

Fans of the series will recall that our courageous heroine Elaine Brogan was pretty much left for dead and we were all left wondering if she would actually have the stamina to make it to this instalment. Thank goodness that she did - this time helped by a daring 'Halo' style rescue attempt by her intrepid partner Nick LaGrange.

This book was released in serial fashion in Mr Wells' online blog. The prose is punchy and to the point whilst the action is truly breathtaking. The dialogue is gritty and as expected peppered with plenty of black humour.

My favourite scene was with the rat poison as I was reminded of the crazy antics of a certain Basil Fawlty and I literally laughed out loud as I was reading it as I am sure you will too!

Needless to say I won't give any spoilers away but suffice to say this is an oustanding book that would translate very well into a movie.

I look forward to reading the next in the series 'Off the Grid' which is also being published serially on line as I type. Exciting stuff indeed and an innovative use of technology to reach his wide readership!

My honest verdict: a very well-deserved 5 stars!

Elaine Brogan managed to get the Cat out of Russia only she's now injured. She uses the emergency GPS to give her location. It's just a matter of waiting she only hopes. Nick LaGrange's previous job prior to his marriage to Elaine was an extractor. When Nick realizes the asset he's assigned to extract is his wife Elaine only increases his worry. Meanwhile The Cat escapes yet again. Elaine knows that The Cat will be coming after her sooner or later. It's only a matter of time. What does the Cat want this time? Will Elaine believe Nick? Your answers await you in The Extraction.

This sixth book packs a punch just like the previous five books did. You never seem to know which direction it's coming from. I love all the characters in this book! The story is top notch and compelling from first page to last page. I look forward to my next adventure in this series.

Mehreen Ahmed's review: PDF copy.

Mike Wells has done wonders in Lust - Money - Murder book 6. The vantage point of this book is its espionage and intrigue, not to mention the spectacular grand setting of St.Petersberg, Russia. Every nook and cranny of this book is beset with danger which the secret service agent must contend with. This mission is demanding. One that requires unparalleled prowess as she embarks on this hunt for Giorgio who stole 15 Picasso paintings from the museum. That would be quite a feat if she is able to capture this man. Heavy with tension, this book renders the most unpredictable conclusion.

Giorgio Cattoretti aka Xavier Dente is a criminal mastermind. After stealing 18 Picasso's from a russian museum he has now come up with a plan to trade them for the insurance reward.

Elaine Brogan has been sent to Russia under a false identity Janet Bailey , supposedly FBI Art Theft Consultant. Elaine's true assignment is to find and arrest Giorgio so he can be taken back to the United States for prosecution for 3 murders and counterfeiting. For this she solicits the help of Dmitry who helped her on her last trip to Russia.

Viktoria Kasparova the curator of the museum has been cleared of any wrongdoing by Inspector Sergei Amperov, but Elaine still suspects her or someone at the museum of complicity. Elaine has left her friend Luna , from the secret service training with her children along with Tony who used to be Giorgio's chef. Nick LaGrange is away on business as always. Elaine n fear of her children's safety left them with the only 2 people she truly trust.

Giorgio is giving the police instructions to retrieve the paintings, and he does it in a very elaborate way. He agrees to return them a few at a time and his methods are well thought out. No matter what the police always seem to be a step behind him.

And so: the chase is on. . . .
Elaine has to figure a way to stop the Russian police from succeeding, but how?

This is a story filled with intricate planning on behalf of an ex-mafia boss who has no issues with murder to get what he wants. He is bent on revenge against Elaine for taking one of his eyes. Elaine is just as determined and bent on revenge for his kidnapping and raping her. Two strong willed people determined to capture and ruin the other.

This book was given to me in exchange for a fair but honest review, all opinions are solely my own and have no ill intent towards the author, publisher, or promoters of this book. I could never give this series enough praise.

Unputdownable

6th book in the series and so far every one of them has been Unputdownable. The locales were particularly vivid in this book, as you can imagine being at each one. Mike has given Elaine some further depth in this story as well as some twists. If you like fast paced adventure, thrilling twists and turns with a strong female heroine, this series is a must read. That said,, the males in the book are just as interesting, but I was left with one question that I hope will be resolved in the next book...the three guys that kinda dropped at the end??!!

He Careful

Liked the book but do not like the way Mike Wells sells his books as I have paid more than once to get the next in the series When I wanted this book 3 I ordered it on his site and got material already read. I tried emailing and got nothing. Had to buy it again from Amazon. I will NOT get any more Mike Wells books! Be careful.

You remember I said that I thought that I might not forgive the author for the ending in book 5? Well, after reading this book, I do.

This was an absolutely effortless read; a real page turner. With more than a couple of twists, I found it completely engrossing and and hugely enjoyable. Great characters and fast paced action. A satisfying, and revealing conclusion to the trilogy.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Best Book In The Series So Far!

Wow! Not only is this my favorite book in this series, it's my favorite book so far this year!

Wells continues to bring his A game, delivering characters with incredible depth, a blistering pace, and twists and turns that leave me in awe. As always, I could not put this one down, except to perform bodily functions, but even then the story was pulling me back.

Mike Wells remains one of my top 3 favorite authors, highly recommended.

The latest book in one of my favorite series. Once again Elaine Brogan and her husband Nick, face off against Giorgio Cattoretti. On the run after pulling off a huge art heist, he seeks revenge on some, and the affection of Elaine. Mike Wells is one of my favorite authors, and I can't wait for the next book.

A fun, fast paced continuation of the story. Although getting to be far fetched it is an entertaining read and characters are great

The Extraction (Lust, Money & Murder #6)

You thought that “The Extraction” of Secret Service Agent Elaine Brogan (Book 6 from the “Lust, Money and Murder” series) would be easy? No way! With author Mike Wells you should expect to be surprised!

Having read all previous installments you probably already have some idea of the writing style of author Mike Wells and the fictional world he has created where readers are always surprised and should expect the unexpected!

Book 5 ends with Secret Service agent Elaine Brogan failing to capture criminal mastermind Giorgio Cattoretti.

The 6th installment of the series continues with her “extraction” from Latvia – as is called the special operation for saving American agents or diplomats, which turns into a hide-and-seek game organized again by our favorite villain – the Cat.

Many of the characters who you already know and love will take part in this game and you will certainly enjoy a story written in an excellent manner, a really addictive read!

If you still have not read any of the books from the “Lust, Money and Murder” series – do start from the first trilogy as you would not want to miss any of the intricately designed and very exciting adventures of the characters in the series!

Once again Mr. Wells demonstrates that he is master not only of plot, unexpected turns and twists in the story line but also of characters. In every book of the series he leaves, so to say, the door ajar, letting readers have a quick glimpse at some of his characters while at the same time providing a deeper view of the development of others, who have a bigger role for the respective installment. And “The Extraction” does not disappoint in this respect!

A fantastic, very enjoyable book! I am so happy that I have come across author Mike Well and am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series! And what is more – I would certainly recommend other readers to take the “Lust, Money and Murder” journey! It is worth it!
