Elle Redfern is done running. She has just bought a modest, little bakery and she hopes to finally be able to make a fresh start in this small town. She has never known love and happiness, and she wishes, with all her heart, that she could find true love and have a happily-ever-after. Like in a fairy tale. But her life is no fairy tale. She has the scars to prove it.
Aidan Gray has just returned to Shadow Point, and he is the new deputy sheriff in town. While on patrol, he runs into Elle, who is running away from her vengeful, violent ex-husband. Aidan takes her home to his family to keep her safe. Elle is his, and she never has to run again. This is where she belongs, here, with him, in this town.
With the help of Aidan and his loving family, Elle learns that even a scarred, half-broken, half witch has enough power and magic to protect herself and her loved ones. With a wish, some magic and a lot of courage, Elle pushes back and fights for her very own happily-ever-after.

Every woman is unique and beautiful, regardless. I think that's what this book was trying to say. The h had scars, not just mentally but physically, but she found happiness. I liked the theme tbh, but i needed more of it. I didnt see the struggle, dillemas, or even dynamics between H and h. A woman with that many baggage usually had more story to tell. Wished the story depicted more on her struggle to find herself and how she achieved happiness. Just a cent of my thoughts.
I've read the whole Gray Bear series but this review can be applied to all of them. The stories are very quick reads with an HEA but they each have a little suspense thrown in by each having their own villain. My favorite characters in the entire series (you even see them pop up in some of her other series) are the two 80+ year old witches who are always up to well intentioned mischief. If they were real I would love to be able to become their best friend!
Great short story by this author. This author has the ability to make you feel the different emotions of the different characters in this series. I can't put any book down by this author. One of my favorite authors. Highly recommend this book, author and series
I really enjoy reading this book 📙 from this series. It is filled with family, loyalty, romance and love💖 I look forward to more from this series in the future.
So I was prepared for another quick hit of happy, which I got, but this was more. Let's just say that I really like some of the subtle and not so subtle messaging going on here.
Elle Redfern- Here is a woman who through her life has been told she isn't enough- pretty enough, human enough, woman enough. All these messages were from people who saw themselves as not enough and took that out on her. In spite of all the negative messaging, she has the strength to put her abusive husband in jail and find a new life. Then, with the help of a few people, she finds her power and gets the chance to move past her...well..past. When the abusive husband shows up to kill her, instead of being bitter and hateful...The rest of this review is posted on Bodacious Bookworm
I have read this series sooooo many times!! I absolutely LOVE it and I can't believe that I have not reviewed it! This story is a fated mate bear shifter book. No cheating! Lots of steam but not consumed with it...ie there is an actual story line. The story is a stand alone however I recommend starting at book one because it there is a ton of family/character crossover and the timeline will be easier to follow if you read in order. Definitely a happily ever after.
SAFETY AND TRIGGER WARNINGS Light There is mention of past abuse from her ex husband. Does not go into detail. Not sexual abuse. Just bruises and a cut.
Sweet short about Aidan finding his mate in Elle. She's a sweet woman who is running away from a crazed ex-husband who abused her. Now, I have to say his ending was a bit weird. It seemed to work but was almost a little too easy. Like I said it seemed to work with everything that happened. Now, we still have Mason and Jackson. :)
Kindle Unlimited book. What a cute and hot little standalone read in a series about bear shifter brothers!! She makes a wish and it comes true but at what cost? She meets her true love but her abusive ex finds her at the same time. Will she find her HEA or fall victim to the man who she once called husband?
I absolutely love this series! This is the second book...Aiden and Elle's story. Elle is a wonderful half witch who gets the love of her bear to see her heart is worth loving
A sweet quick read. It had everything you want, sexy bear shifter, a touch of drama, hot shifter love. It even has sweet meddling grannies. I just loved this series and can't wait for mason and Jackson's books.
You will enjoy this short story. And I really enjoyed Elle -- she became a strong woman. And I actually liked the resolution of her ex . Definitely different and i liked it.
The story idea was cute but everything was really fast insta-love. They'd met and the same night, slept together, and declared their forever love. It was a little much.
Loving the Bear was thrilling, passionate and hilarious. Gramma and Ne-ma are funny. Looking forward to the other two brothers getting their own books.
