Bilingual former management consultant Nadia Lee has lived in four different countries and enjoyed many adventures and excellent food around the globe. In the last eight years, she has kissed stingrays, got bitten by a shark, and petted tigers.
She shares an apartment overlooking a river and palm trees in Japan with her husband, winter white hamsters and an ever-widening pile of books. When she's not writing, she can be found digging through old Asian historical texts or planning another trip.
“Hunger was a nasty companion, always gnawing at your gut. She knew because she’d been hungry for years in order to keep her weight down.”
“Kindness can be kindness, or it can be a weapon. And when it’s a weapon, it can be deadlier than a gun. Don’t take anything at face value.”
“And she had to admit she was curious about his home. Was it as dignified as the family mansion, or was it more contemporary and chic? Maybe it was like an igloo, since he wanted people to think he was cold and unfeeling.”
“For the longest time I thought I had all the pieces, even though I always felt like something was missing. Then I saw you and I knew you were the final and most vital piece. You made me believe I can be more than I thought I could ever be.”
“‘Penny pinching.’ He shook his head. ‘It’s cruelty to copper, you know.’”
My Review:
Oh to be loved and adored by a billionaire, Nadia Lee makes it seem almost possible, but she also makes it seem like an awful lot of trouble - while still entertaining to read about. And that takes a particular skill as I don’t envy many of these rich people.
I started this book with considerable trepidation as the character of Dane had been beyond loathsome in previous books in the series, and he continued to be more of the same throughout a considerable portion of this one as well. I slowly warmed up to him after learning his take on things, although I still occasionally wanted to give him a few pops to the back of the head with my kindle. He was such an uptight and bitter character, it seemed to be rubbing off as I noticed tension invading my own body as I read his thoughts. But poor naïve Sophia, Ms. Lee tortured her with the worst kind of luck, chapter after chapter. The poor thing must have been fashioned after someone that Ms. Lee held a grudge against as she seemed cursed then blessed then cursed, and so on again and again… which would actually be a rather fulfilling and innocent method of retribution now that I think about it.
While you don’t need to have read the previous books in the series to follow the story line, it would be much more rewarding and entertaining to have done so. Dane’s story had a melancholy air to it, which was not surprising to me, but it also occasionally squeezed my heart and was deliciously steamy at times, which certainly helps to smooth over the aforementioned tension and angst.
I'm disappointed. What I liked best in Nadia Lee's first books seems gone and unfortunately replaced by uninspiring clichés I have the impression to find in every other uninspiring romance, including basic characterisation, minor inconsistencies in the story timeline and some too-expected events. In that case, the heroine was a former star figure skater, whose career ended after an accident. That offered interesting potential. Unfortunately, there were more than a few details added in that destroyed the character's potential. It took her more than 4 years after the accident to finally accept her career was over. Also more than 4 years to stop being on a very strict diet, that would have been completely unfit for an athlete. There also was a stalker in her past - completely useless in the story moreover. And not only was she very young / much younger than the hero, but her main quality was her sweetness - no clue where it came from as it seemed neither of her parents was blessed with that characteristic. The hero, as shown in all the previous books, was a cold unfeeling a..hole and he delivered. Some explanations were offered as to why he ended up like this. However it wasn't fully developed and his behaviour wasn't always that consistent especially towards his siblings. So I felt a bit cheated on understanding his psyche. Regards the small inconsistencies, the hero offered the heroine some clothes that completely disappeared from her closet later on, as it only included the clothes she left with and some the hero's father had given her. And the worst mistake: after a hot encounter with the hero where she left his room with her panties torn (meaning no panties worn behind her dress/skirt...), she got called by the hero's father when reaching her room, went directly in his room where she got at least one drink of whisky, if I remember right. Well! that didn't work at all with me. There is just absolutely no way that scene could fly, without the girl making an excuse first to grab and slip on another pair of panties before talking and having a drink with another man. All in all, it feels like a book that was rushed and not as well thought of compared to the first ones.
2.5-3 stars, I can't decide. Certain things annoyed me (like Dane's inability to come clean re: The Accident) but my eyes were still glued to the screen because I love the drama in Pryce-Reed family lmao it's like Spanish soap in here
Dane was the one who accidentally crashed the taxi Sophie Reed was in 7 years ago. Three years ago, after his grandma Shirley passed away, he went to Mexico and got to popped Sophie's cheery. After Sophie's father passed away, George her bestfriend's brother who was also her greatest fan tried to rape her. She went to Salazar, Dane's father for help. All the sibilings thought she was gonna be their step-mother. Dane tried to hide the fact that he waa the one who ruined Sophie's career but George came back. Dane claimed his worth 1/2 million to Elizabeth's foundation so that he got to grovel and have his second chance with Sophie.

Finally got around to reading Dane's story. You know someone who is such as pain in his sibling and parents life has got to be an awesome person when you finally get to know them for themselves. This was a great story with how Dane and Sophia met and then how they help each other through so many things.
I can't stop reading this...omg! I see the pureness of Sophia's heart and I cried for Dane's lack of it due to the way he way bought up. Money is really not everything! Gosh the sexual chemistry was hot...in every series I've read from Nadia's book. Have to shower after lol. Can't wait to read the next one...

"The Billionaire's Forbidden Desire" by Nadia Lee is the fifth installment in The Pryce Family series. It stands alone as a captivating billionaire romance.
Former skating sensation Sophia Reed crosses paths with billionaire Dan Pryce as they grapple with devastating losses. Their chance meeting leads to an unexpected one-night affair. Fast forward three years later - Sophia is desperately working to rebuild her life and inadvertently finds herself immersed in the toxic dynamics of the Pryce family. She thinks she’s starting over and he thinks she’s trying to marry his father.
Dan is determined to honor a promise to his late grandmother: safeguard the family at all costs, including the family's wealth. Despite his attraction to Sophia, Dan is torn between familial pressures and his interest in her. Unfortunately, his desire for Sophia is complicated by his family secrets. Even with the family’s good intentions, they have caused irreparable damage to many lives.
When Dan finally decides that Sophia is his to protect and keep, he stops at nothing to make it a reality. I cherish how deeply Dan loves Sophia, as it became evident in how he expresses his emotions. Dan’s willingness to defy his family highlights the seriousness of his feelings for Sophia, and his siblings immediately take notice. He is usually pretty pensive and is often misunderstood; Sophia brings out the best in Dan and she heals his heart. Both characters experience significant growth throughout the story, and I was thrilled to see Sophia and Dan finally find a happy ending.
Nadia consistently delivers with her well-developed, realistic, and complicated characters. This fast-paced read tackled controversial topics while maintaining her signature blend of a sexy, humorous, and emotional romance. The beautifully written storyline kept me engrossed and overwhelmed my emotions. "The Billionaire's Forbidden Desire" is, without a doubt, my favorite book in the series. Nadia expertly guides readers through this intricate tale, leading us to a satisfying happy ending. This title earned a solid 5 stars from me.
Another sad, tearful love story of Dane and Sophia! The biggest obstacles are the Pryce family and associated branches. Everyone seems eager to destroy any relationship developing between them. There is prior history, of which neither is aware. Sophia’s grasping father left her and her mother destitute. Her greedy mother quickly remarries and abandons her. Sophia only has a Pryce connection by marriage to grasp for help. This is their difficult love story!
Omg I have been wanting Dane and Sophia's story since I first saw them in Nate's book ( yes I read the books out of order). The way he stuck to Sophia like glue...never wanting her to leave his sight had me swooning. Ad that he's a grump who's ice heart only melts for his lady love...makes him even more sexier. I absolutely love this story. The fact that his dad was after as well only added to the story
It was a hot and fast paced romance. Despite the length of this book I enjoyed it, didn't feel like it took too long or didn't progress enough.
I love Dane. His cold calculating nature isn't so bad hes caring but he holds people away as hes been burnt by his own parents. I liked Sophia. Shes fun and her character tries hard. Was a little confused with the working situation felt like she wasn't working that much?
Surprisingly, I like Dane! He's standoffish, rude (because he's too frank), obnoxious and always states things plainly. I admire him and his character. It's refreshing. And paired with the sweet heroine, they match each other perfectly. I enjoyed the story very much, the history - how they first met, and the prologue even - what a surprise. There are just so many twists and turns they make the whole book lively. The chemistry was palpable and the side characters were fun to read.
This was fine— I haven’t read any others in this series so I have no opinion on Dane. It’s a Nadia Lee.
However, the MMC plans a romantic dinner to win over the FMC with an amazing chef cooking (remember: DINNER) and lights “500 scented candles” in his penthouse or condo or whatever. FIVE HUNDRED SCENTED CANDLES. That is insane, a fire hazard, and an olfactory war crime.
I thought this HEA was not gonna happen! I enjoyed seeing the transformation that came whenever Dane was around Sophia. It was just like a lamb calming the beast! This was a great book to read. I was also glad to read that Chad was back in the picture! I think everyone who reads this book will enjoy it! Definitely gonna recommend this book to others!
I won't lie....I was a tad disappointed when I realized the girl was not KIM.....I mean they kept shoving her in the other books randomly I thought she would be the one.....but after that I quite enjoyed this book...... He didn't appear snobbish in this book....which was kinda Not expected.... Still a great read!
This is another good book by Nadia. I have really enjoyed this series. Dane is the meany of the Pryce family, but Sophia can see the goodness in his soul. Dane, like his siblings, has relationship issues caused by his dysfunctional family. The characters are interesting and engaging, but again I don't think the foul language is necessary.
3 stars. Waaaaaay too many characters with complicated relationships to each other. Whiplash from how quickly the hero would go back and forth with his emotions. Eye rolls over how quickly the heroine forgave him so fast multiple times throughout the book despite a lack of groveling.
Yet I stayed up until 4am (well, it would be 3am but it’s daylight savings time) to read it in one sitting.
I’m pretty sure the first one of Nadia’s books that I read was the one where the guy kidnaps the bride. I “met” Dane and was intrigued by the aloof man who drove a pink car and was super sweet only to his wife. I knew their story had to be good. I was right! I love these two even more than I expected 💕
I think this is my favorite book about the Pryce Brothers - Dane is the best brother - the others are good but character development here and with Sophia is incredible. And it brings us to a better understanding of his parents - that’s the love story I’d like to see end happily
This ML was brutally honest in an offensive loving way. Overall the book was a great read and although it can be read as a stand-alone if your reading the series it ties up ends one may not realize were loose.
Another great story by Nadia. Great characters and story line. And great messages mixed in. The importance of clear communication, honesty, and how past experiences color the present. Strongly recommend.
Loved it, can’t say anything else because Nadia Lee can do no wrong with her book! Now on to the next one! No sleep, and no work being done at work. I need a job that allows me to read 40 hours a week and make the big bucks!
This one was a little hard to believe. Dane has been a first class douche throughout the series but suddenly with Sophia he turns sweet. Apparently, this whole family is exceptional at keeping secrets and being idiots. I did enjoy this book and would recommend it to everyone.
I read this a couple weeks ago. I had trouble getting through it, and DNF'd at 92%.
The H isn't very likeable, and the h is fairly boring. The book it self is a bit boring and not memorable. I didn't hate it, but I barely remember a thing about it, so 2 stars it is.
