Good overview to historical work & writing. Not necessarily new information for someone in the field already, but helpful nonetheless, with good reminders for any historian. Good introduction for someone unfamiliar with historical methods and theory.

Helpful in that it provides a very wide range of information. However, the book is very dated and because it favours breadth rather than depth, you'll probably need to supplement it with other books - which it might therefore have been better to read in the first place.
