Haunted houses, candy, costumes...and a ghost. Once again, Lacey Luzzi hasn't signed up for any of it. Except the candy. But when Carlos corners her with a very special request, she can't bring herself to say no. With three days to Halloween, Lacey is drawn into a high stakes mission where she's forced to investigate those closest to her - and they don't like it.
However, Lacey doesn't have a choice. If she can't expose the traitor in time, the Luzzi Haunted House may take a turn from spooky, to downright scary.
** ** Lacey Luzzi: Spooked is a full-length, humorous cozy mystery with a strong female protagonist in the spirit of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum, albeit one working for the wrong side of the law…
Note: This book can be read as a standalone, though it is part of a larger series and not all plot lines are resolved in a single book. It is rated a strong PG-13 for sarcasm and mild language. No graphic gore or sex.

Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Gina LaManna has also called Italy and Los Angeles home. After studying numbers and equations in college, she realized multiple choice tests were “just not for her” and began writing books instead. She loves cappuccino foam and whipped cream and would subsist solely on sprinkles if possible. She currently lives in St. Paul with her wonderful husband and family.
Three days before Halloween, Lacey's grandfather, Carlos, the head of their mafia family, asks her to do something for him all on her own. Her friend Meg wants her to dress as Aladdin for Halloween to complement her costume as whoever that female lead is (haven't seen the film), her boyfriend is still in the picture and they are quite happy, but her cousin is up to something odd with a mannequin. In some ways Lacey and her friend Meg are a bit more like teens, but I have to say that Lacey was smarter in this book and in laughed out loud at times in spite of myself. I suspect I was in just the right mood for some of this humour.
Lacey is back, with the gang, but this time her Grandfather has her on assignment all by herself. No best friend and ex cop Meg, no IT extraordinaire and cousin Clay and no sexy smouldering boyfriend / body guard / head of security Anthony to help her solve this latest mystery. And neither of them are happy about not being around Lacey, more so Meg. Lacey is also exploring into the mystery that is her biological father and tracking down leads for that too.
Halloween brings out all the crazies, and not just Meg, who is determined to have the best Haunted House themed party ever at the Luzzi estate. But nothing ever goes as planned with these girls, which makes for a funny read.
Gina brings these characters together like they are our own family. Crazy but so loveable. She has done another exceptional job with this instalment and with an ending that just through me for a huge loop! I can not wait to read the next book.
Ok guys this is a review for the entire series 😅. 🎧 I did the audios (which was such a mess and highly disappointing) so I’m gonna break down this whole series without any major plot spoilers but this will have relationship spoilers and the series character progression spoilers. I wanted a good long audio series. It was my main reason for picking this up!
Overall this was.. Romcom Suspend disbelief Silly antics Mafia family- but also not really done well Over the top antics Light and mostly fun listening Cozy mystery Crazy reacurring side characters
‼️Book 1-3…. 🎧audio was good w a narrator who did voices and personalities.
The first 3 books was hard for the romance. I didn’t like that she was dating OP and that Anthony was wishy washy. I also would have liked confirmation that he wasn’t dating and hooking up w OW.
I didn’t enjoy the weird way the author tried to write a love and romance. She dragged it out way too much and not in a fun way.
😡Why is she still hooking up w her looser ex! And why is the H waiting so long and sending mixed signals for 4books??!!!
😡Also making the h pathetic isn’t attractive. She was legit in the next room while her ex he was hooking up w OW and she has seen him w a revolving door in his bed. Why is she still hooking up w him in book 3 when Anthony has told her multiple times he wants her and they have had more then one make out sess? It makes her come off as so gross and cheap w no self respect. Way to much push and pull with Anthony the H. Makes him seem like a douche.
‼️ Book 4- 🎧Audio is the same and still good! By the end we are finally getting somewhere with the romance! And FINALLY Lacy seems to be growing a bit.
‼️Book 5- 🎧HORRID! We went to VIRTUAL VOICE🫨 after having a great narrator w personality. Also the story is FINALLY getting better and better and the romance was stating to get super sweet. So I was bummed about the audio big time!
‼️Book 6- NO AUDIO AVAILABLE!!! WTF I did Alexa reading to me. What a freaking mess! Also since the romance and story anew literally getting better w each book this is ruining my experience.
‼️Book 7-10- 🎧ALL VIRTUAL VOICE! 🫨 I guess it was better than Alexa reading it to me but WTF I mean this author really needs to get consistent with her audios. The story was great though these were my fav of the series. We had character growth. Super sweet romance that I loved. And we got some fun storylines and mysteries. TO ME THESE BOOKS WERE THE BEST IN THE SERIES AND WHERE RHE SERIES PEAKED. Such a shame about the audios! 😭😭😭
‼️Books 11- 12- 🎧BACK TO NARRATION! So great audios But man the characters and the storylines took a plummet for me. Lacy was annoying me and so was Meg. Anthony turned into her useless husband. I mean he was head security for the mafia and couldn’t keep her safe! And Lacy was pregnant and putting herself in danger. I was annoyed. It’s not cute when you have real adult stuff happening to be acting like an immature child.
‼️Book 13- 🎧Back to ZERO AUDIO! Fucking hell!!!!!! I mean really!? And I’m over it and ready for this series to end.
‼️Overall my experience of this series was def positive and I did enjoy the majority of the mysteries and stories. I love the romance after book 4. But to much stuff dragged to long w the characters and their growth and development. The audios were a freaking mess! And had I known I wouldn’t have spent money buying the first 4! By the time the series ended I felt sad to see it go but also ready. I did enjoy watching to romance bloom and grow and then get married and have kids but like I said other factors also made my experience less enjoyable to.
Overall safe. Book 1-4 not really cause she is hooking up w her ex douche bag BF No clue is Anthony is hooking up w OW. After book 3 No OP at all.
🍭🎂ALSO SIDE NOTE BUT NO GROWN WOMAN CAN EAT ALL THAT SUGAR! IT WAS OK AT FIRST BUT ANGUGE TURN OFF WHEN SHE BECAME PREGNANT! Not cute just gross.

Lacey and her beau, Anthony: “‘Let’s agree to disagree.’ I gave a quick smile, before looking up at Anthony. ‘Thank you for helping. What brings you here?’ ‘I’m drawn to trouble.’ Anthony stepped closer, closing the awkward gap between us. ‘Good thing that’s my middle name,’ I said, resting my head against his shoulder, letting my frazzled nerves rest for a moment before I stepped back.” The two are pretty cute, I admit.
Lacey Luzzi’s cake and logic: “‘We could leave,’ I said. ‘But should we leave is the better question?’ I sliced another sliver of cake onto my plate. Because when I cut up a cake into eight slivers, and then ate them in small pieces instead of one large one, somehow the calories disappeared. It was science, I’m pretty sure.” Did Lacey figure something out that is genius?! Lol.
More thoughts by Lacey: “But as Anthony didn’t even notice the woman’s presence, an epiphany hit me – I had nothing to worry about at all. Even if every woman on the planet threw herself at him, it wouldn’t change anything. Because he wasn’t looking. And even if I couldn’t trust anyone else, I could trust him. The thought brought a smile to my face, and I leaned my head on his shoulder.” Young love…
Lacey searching for the man that may be her father: “‘Well, I must say…’ The woman behind the desk shook her head. ‘Your mother was memorable, as was your father. And they were popular around this town, even with the teachers. Fun, the two of them, and in love. I think you should be very happy if it turns out this pair became your parents. Together, they made each other shine.’ I bit my lip. ‘Does he have a name?’ ‘He does.’” And we readers do eventually discover the name of who may be Lacey’s father.
More from the lady who provided Lacey with the man who may be her father: “‘It seems like you’ve found your own family, while looking for your immediate one.’ The woman tilted her head towards Anthony. She reached out and clasped my hands in hers, folding the envelope into my palms. ‘And that is what’s important. The past is the past, and you must never linger on it.’”
And in the end Lacey is given the address to the man who may be her father, but an unpleasant surprise occurs when Lacey and her crew arrive at that address. Guess we’ll find out in the next book “Seasoned” (book 7) what shocked Lacey and what she saw means.
Another winner for Miss Gina! I've loved this series since the beginning, and each book gets better and better. It had many laugh out loud moments, (which I had to tame down since I was reading during the kids nap time at work. :) Don't tell my boss.) These books do tend to be a bit on the silly side, so if you are looking for that no nonsense type of story, this probably isn't for you, but if you are reading for the pure enjoyment of it and enjoy humor in your books, I highly suggest you at least give this series a try. =)
The characters continue to evolve and its fun to watch them grown and change... and get so sensitive! ;) I love Meg's over-the-top personality and it was nice, yet sad, to see her get so upset at her BFF Lacey over a miscommunication. I also like seeing Anthony (the love interest) become more and more human as time goes on. But what I love the most, is watching Lacey become more confident and skilled at her job.
Of course this darned author had to go and leave us hanging the way she did! Doesn't she know I'm gonna read the next book anyways? :D
Ir's almost Halloween!! Meg is out of control with group costumes, a haunted house at the Luzzi mansion, & a fight with Lacey?? Say it isn't so. When the two best friends have their first fight right in the middle of a three day case for Lacey it's a battle of wits, torture & a little humor. Lacey is on the case for Carlos to retrieve an item before the Halloween bash that she can't share with ANYONE since the thief might be on the household staff.. She struggles to keep the case from Meg, Clay, & Anthony. As she and Anthony's relationship grows stronger Nora continues to meddle, Clay remains disinterested, & Meg is being another person. Adding to that stress, Lacey is on the hunt for her biological father and of course her friends are with her 100%, but will she like what she finds? Add in a trip to school for show and tell with Marissa and Clarissa with one of Clay's brand new inventions has Lacey reliving horrors of middle school. A surprising job offer has her taking stock of her life and a shocking revelation about her biological father has a cliffhanger of an ending
Love this book but really turned off by Meg and her spoilt brat attitude. In all the books she doesn't come off really well but in this one she's even more self centred, jealous of Lacey and just plain bitchy. I'd definitely be happier to see less of her.
The fact she admitted in the last book to trying to break up Anthony and Lacey said a lot about her character already to be honest. And what asshole runs into a couple's bedroom and jumps on the bed like a 2 year old. Or constantly interrupts their quiet time?
I love a really good Halloween themed book. Lacey sets up a Haunted House at her grandparents estate. If that isn't enough, she has to find something that has been taken from the estate. Her grandfather fears an inside job, however, he won't tell her what has been taken or who the client is. Excellent book! You won't see the ending coming!
I really love the Luzzi family. Lacey is such a great person, then you add Meg her best friend and Anthony her boyfriend the Clay her cousin this makes for a very great read. Lacey is working on an assignment, trying to prepare for Halloween and looking for her father and the trip to accomplish this is such a great story. I love this series!
I really enjoy the Lacey Luzzi series. The family dynamics are excellent. In this book Lacey had to do things a bit more on her own and I missed the teamwork, but it was interesting. As always fun and mischievous.
Lacey and her friends/family remind me of the Addams family,I love Lucy and the Munsters. So if you love strange but lovable characters, you're going to fall in love with Lacey and friends/family.
I'm still living this series, although, I kind of knew where the missing item was. I loved the progression of relationships. The cliff hanger ending was really good, I wanted to finish another book I'm reading, but I need to know what's next.......
Another adventure for Lacey, Meg, Clay and Anthony. Putting together a haunted house, best friends not talking, a missing crown and Aladdin make for another great book. Lacey is also searching for who her dad is to add to the suspense/excitement.
Normally I can guess the ending to a mystery by about half way through the book, but this one kept me guessing right up until the end. Another fun read that had me laughing out loud!
Meg and Lacey don't normally have big fights. This time their fight is nuclear. Carlos lost another item he needs Lacey to find. Only he swears her to secrecy, making her estranged from her support team. Just when she needs them the most.
Each book gets better as the mystery behind Lacey's parentage builds. Lots of action, romance and goofs. Can you have love and friendship at the same time?
I like the plot and Lacey. I like most of the humor. I could not stand Meg, Lacey's best friend. Her actions would have caused me to drop her as a friend.
