This is an engaging tale about a woman who was falsely convicted of murder. On her way to prison, the transportation van she was in crashed, allowing her the opportunity to escape. After living on the run for years, she learns that her conviction has been overturned. After living in fear for years, adjusting to life as a free woman is a challenge. She returns home to live with her grandma, but the community has not forgotten her and many still believe she is a killer. Almost immediately, she meets a PI that she is attracted to.....but he has secrets of his own.

This is a compelling book that I hope is the beginning of a series. I loved the characters and found myself rooting for Kimberly and drooling over Coop. If you like romantic suspense, you will love this book.

Additional notes: this is a relatively "clean" book. While it deals with extreme crimes, there is very little (almost none) swearing and no graphic sex. This is an adult book, but it is one I would have let my daughter read during her teens.

I'm a huge fan of JB Lynn's Hitwoman series and was shocked when I read First Victim. Never realized she did romantic suspense, but WOW, she can do the hell out of romantic suspense! I honestly could not put this book down. Loved Kimberly & Cooper's story and am looking forward to what other secrets lie in Meadowville.

Good read

I truly love your Hitwoman series. I usually read each one in a single sitting. This book, on the other hand, took me longer. And I am glad. I guess I preferred savoring the story line, watching Kimberly blossom, recover. I hope this turns into a series: Harmon's story, Coop's dad, Kim's sister Rose, And Coop's brother's reactions to the new relationship. I would buy that!

Not on Par

This book is not on par with other books written by JB Lynn. Not enough story line and way too much sexual anticipation filler. Little depth. Found myself skimming the pages of repetitive sexual anticipation to get back to the srory.

Intriguing characters. Intricate plot. Compelling premise. Don't blink or you'll miss something. And believe me, you don't want to miss anything. From the start, Ms. Lynn keeps you on the edge of your chair, biting your nails. I loved a wrongly convicted woman as the main character. I loved her hero - the ex-cop forced into retirement by a gunshot wound and happier in his life as a PI. Her inability to trust after all she's been through vs. his need to be the woman he's fallen in love with from afar. And the plot running behind it to catch the person behind the disappearances of little girls was totally not what anyone would assume. Brilliant. And she left it with the lure of another in this series at the end. With a cliffhanger. Ugh. But hey, everything for this story is wrapped up. It's just a glimpse into the next plot. I'm ready for the next book now.

I loved it. The characters are likable and the plot is a good mystery that remains unsolved to the end. Kimberly and Cooper provide the tease as well as love angle. Eli is just right. And the setting in a small town with lots of secrets provides the ideal place for it all to happen. Wonder what Tonya knows about it all. Get book two to find out more. JB Lynn has shown that she can write humor, romance, and intrigue.

Until Proven Innocent by J. B. Lynn was the first of her romantic suspense books that I have read but it won't be the last. Smooth and fast paced plot with plenty of twists in the story to keep me guessing. The characters are complex but I loved each one of them. I sure hope J. B. writes more about Meadowville because I want to go back and visit with Kimberly, Cooper, Eli and Kimberly's grandmother.

This book was completely different from the other books I have read from this author, but I highly recommend it! As always, the characters are well written and you are pulled into the story from the beginning and can’t wait to find out what happens on the next page. This will keep you reading late into the night and you won’t be disappointed!

This girl's good!

From the Hitwoman series, Lynn moves into a slightly different genre that also moves her talent into that of a female Robert B. Parker. She has penned a page turner that transcends all ages and sexes. She has the ability to write novel after novel that one will find gripping. Can she write a Parker-like 60+ books? My money's on her.

It's a little bit of a departure from the writing style of the Neurotic Hitwoman books and Lynn does it justice. Suspenseful and romantic. I enjoyed getting to know Kimberly and Coop and would like to hear more about both of them. I loved this book and can't wait for the next book in the series.

Highly recommend

LOVE the Hitwoman series so thought I'd give this one a try. Took me a few chapters to get into it... the first few chapters are building of the different characters- but once I did I couldn't put this book down!
