Ahmed Faraz is considered one of the greatest modern Urdu poets of the last century. Evocative, Enchanting, heart-wrenching

"Faqirana ravish rakhte hain
Lekin is qadar nadaar hum kab the
Ki apne khwab bechen."

Faraz on his own writing:

"mera qalam to amānat hai mere logon ki
mera qalam to adālat mire zameer ki hai
isī liye to jo likkha tapaak-e-jaan se likha
jabhi to loch kaman ka zabaan tiir ki hai"
