It was a normal Halloween. Two little zombies were coming up the walk, ready to beg for candy and make empty threats. Their mother, looking like a witch dressed for a Playboy spread, waited outside the gate on the walk. But then it became a very abnormal Halloween, when a mob came around the corner headed our way. They were tearing up everything and raising ... well ... hell. I had to take the witch and her two zombies inside with me, right? I mean it was for their own safety. And when the mob burned their house to the ground, they had to have someplace to stay, right? And it would only be for a little while, just until she could get her feet back on the ground. Or so we thought. Turned out differently. Both she and her little zombies got under my skin. Astonishingly ... I got under theirs too. And not in a creepy Halloween kind of way, either.
Pretty good. There were a few things that didn't quite work for me but for the most part it was typical good Lubrican story. Guy is very smart troubleshooter and is a millionaire. Nobody knows this a he lives a quiet life and doesn't flash his money around. He did go all out for Halloween though. That is when he met the woman and the kids that would change his life. While at his door getting candy a riot happened in town. He takes them into his house and protects them. Turns out the rioters burned down some homes including the woman and her kids. He offers them to stay there and it becomes a thing. Can she trust him? Her whole experience with men is they only want one thing. What other choice does she have?
Another excellent story from the quirky mind of Robert Lubrican. This is more spicy romance than erotica, but I enjoyed it from start to finish. I do appreciate good banter between characters as they fall in love - author Lubrican really delivered in this book.
I enjoyed reading about the unusual job MC Bob had. It was special and the description made excellent sense.
As usual, this book is sprinkled with interesting concepts. If you’d like a glimpse, I suggest you look at the highlighted passages in Steve’s review. Steve’s review does have spoilers in it; only read his review if you’re ok with spoilers. Personally, the author’s About this Book should be sufficient for most readers.
A solid 4.5 stars rounded to 5 Stars. There were quite a number of little obvious typos that could easily be corrected.
I’m a big fan of the authors stories and I think I have virtually all of the ones on Amazon. The story starts with an unusual beginning with an incident on Halloween. Because of this incident the character takes in the two kids at his door and their mother. When the incident makes them homeless he offers to let them stay until their situation is resolved. Bob finds what it’s like to have kids and their mother around and finds he not only likes it but finds the young mother irresistibly beautiful and kind. Having never married or been a father Bob finds the idea intriguing. The interaction between Valerie and Bob is quickly established by honest conversations. I think readers will be interested in this unique love story. Which I may have given away the story by saying so. Read and enjoy!
His books all are sexy and have a well developed story line. The characters could be real people dealing with real situations. He does get a little carried away with the baby making for my taste. But overall I liked this book and the others of his that I've read.
I don't know how Mr Lubrican does it. I have never, ever felt such an emotional response to reading books before. His book regularly makes cry, laugh, get nervous, get goosebumps and every other emotion I can think of when I am reading his books. Please please don't stop writing like this, I am not sure I could go without. Thank you, Robert.
