The Wind Trilogy #1

Whispering Wind: Leona's Story

Rate this book
Leona Kane spent her whole life in a dark cloud. Growing up in a small town, she was often afraid to show her true colors. She saw things others would never believe and she had flat out refused the idea of marriage.

The only person who ever knew the truth about Leona was Kamila Nox, her best friend since she had been a little girl. Kamila listened to Leona when she needed an ear and she provided her with a warmth no man ever could. Leona dated, but Kamila was always on her mind. She could share Kamila with no one though, because well...

Kamila was dead.

That wasn't going to stop Leona though. She was nearing thirty and her secrets were about to be revealed. One step forward and a hundred steps back was likely, but nothing would stop her. She'd be with Kamila, everyone else be damned.

About

I'm Amanda Kay, a married mother of two. I have a degree in Multimedia Journalism with a minor in Political Science. Writing has always been a way for me to release the stress of everyday life. After a while I decided I wanted to share my stories, but I wanted them to be affordable for all so after some careful consideration I decided that my E-books would always be just $0.99 cents (USD).

Mission

My mission is to hopefully give readers a voice. As a teacher and mother of two I see the struggles teenagers and young adults face every day and I hope my stories can be something they can get lost in, but also find hope in.

Vision

My vision is to inspire every day. Not only through my writing, but also in how I carry myself and interact with people on a daily basis whether in person or online.

A Heart - wrenching read!

Leona Kane, lost her best friend Kamila Nox, at five years old Leona's life spirals out of control. As she grows up, she lives a life of seeing things no - body else could comprehend, Being ignored and misunderstood. Heartbroken Leona can - not relieve herself of the depression Kamila's death has caused. Kamila her one true love, her light her heart. Kamila completes Leon's battered soul.

A devastating - heartbreaking but truly brilliant story.

I loved Leona and Kamila's story; it’s beautiful and sad all at once. Amanda writes with such emotion and conviction. I felt every bit of sadness from Leona and found that Amanda sucked me in entirely I found myself welling up with individual scenes and smiling at others. That for me determines a truly exceptional author, one who can create a world that while reading it we are experiencing it, we are living every word of it too. I can not recommend this story enough, for me it deserves five star's and more! I must admit when I turned that first page and was greeted by, this is a lesbian romance with graphic sexual nature and politics, I thought; On no what have I signed up for here… But I’m so glad I continued and so pleased Amanda welcomed me into Leona Kamila and Carson's world. I feel anyone who reads this will have that of a similar reaction. I have read a lot of books from many authors, but I have never had one truly touch me the way 'whispering wind' has. Amanda's writing technique is brilliant; the story flows beautifully. The characters are solid, and you can’t help but fall in love with them even through their faults.

Whispering Wind
By Amanda Kay

WOW!
I won a copy of Whispering Wind during a Valentines Author Take Over. I had not read any of Amanda's work so receiving this I was so excited. Having said that, can I just say Amanda Kay is just phenomenal! I am such an Amanda Kay fangirl now!

The story takes place between Leona Kane, Carson Stone and Kamila Nox. Such an intricate love story. She loves her, he loves she, her? Her is dead. Who is she and who is her? Ah that is what reading the story is all about. The beginning of the book starts with Leona and Kamila starting out at a very young age but one of them dies and becomes a ghost. In this story the ghost grows up right along side the friend who was left behind. And the love story blossoms and grows and you think what a beautiful couple of pages. Of course there are wrenches in the works here. Lots of them. Don't forget about Carson. Carson loves one of them .... a lot. He doesn't see the ghost, but still loves the girl.. Oh what a tangled web Amanda has weaved!! There are so many little stories within the story that I couldn't begin to tell even one of them. Stories on friendship and that kind of love. Parental love and its ok not to like your parent .The love of a parent and a child. Unrequited love. Like I said SO many stories within one story. I think Amanda handled the "coming out" part of the book with the utmost class. There are many moments in the book that make you want to cry and you probably will.

I can't wait to read the other 2 books in the trilogy!

I really enjoyed this book. It is well written, smooth flowing and easy to read. The characters, their emotions and the experiences they go through are depicted extremely well.

Leona Kane lost her best friend Kamila when she was just 5 years old. Kamila was the person she played with, had sleepovers with, and loved her very much. Leona learned at a young age just because someone dies, does not mean they are truly gone. The day Kamila was laid to rest, Leona realized she must keep a secret.

This is Leona's story. How she chose to live her life after the loss of Kamila. One thing that time and circumstances never changed, is that Leona Kane will always love Kamila Nox.

I felt so many emotions while reading this book. Sadness, loss, joy, hope and love. I shed several tears, laughed out loud, held my breath, but couldn't stop reading. Once I started the book, I couldn't put it down. I will be anxiously awaiting the rest of the series.

I received an ARC for an honest review.
Another hit by one of my favorite authors!!
This is a f/f romance-type book--although I wouldn't consider it a typical romance novel--it's not all sex(but there are several great, steamy scenes!).
This book is a page turner-it's filled with dysfunctional family life, loss, despair, heartache, personal growth & redemption for all of our main characters!
You will completely fall in love with Leona, Kamila and Carson. The love the three of them have is so refreshing and pure. There are so many twists to the characters stories-so many obstacles they must overcome. I'm so excited that there will be a series-can't wait for the rest!!

This book has an awesome flow to it! It actually only took me 3 hours to read it total, on two different days though. I had difficulty putting it away, I just had to know what happened next. I generally refuse to finish a book I don't care for, and one I love I fly through so that should speak volumes! At some points it had me on the edge of my seat and at other points I was bawling, definitely talented writing right here.

I can't even begin to put into words how amazing this book is. I get that it's supposed to be paranormal, but I feel there's a realistic touch that hits home for almost everybody. I love how the biggest message is to always be yourself and those who truly love you for you will come around and love you anyways. At least that's how I feel about it. I'm so glad I read this. I fully recommend it! I just wish I could give it more than five stars!!!!!!

This is one of the few books that literally made me cry. The emotions pop off the page and are intense. Leona's mother is not any kind of mother anyone should have, and she does nothing to help Leona through the trials of life starting when Leona is five years old. This is a very different kind of paranormal love story. Kamila, Carson and Grace help Leona become the woman she needs to be to face her mother and future trials. I highly recommend this story.

Nothing stands in the way of true love
I loved this book!! Very different. So refreshing from the same ol', same ol' that is out right now.. I admit, there were (quite) a few tears shed while reading this story. Some sighs, a couple swoons ;) Haha! As the book ends, we learn that there is a continuation. I am very much looking forward to this series and will be watching for Stone & Wind Storm.

Whispering Winds by Amanda Kay is different than any book I have. It is a story about unconditional love it it's purest form. The love of a mother for her child , a man for a woman and a woman for a woman. This book is also about faith and our belief in something greater than ourselves. As I read this book it opened my mind for many things and I found myself very emotional.

In the beginning I had a hard time reading this book because it was told in increments of time and it felt a little choppy to me but as I allow Wed the story to take shape I became totally entranced by the characters and their struggles. As Leona comes to grips with the death of her closest friend and her live changes so drastically the author writes with clear and concise dialogue that is not over dramatized. It is one reason why this story will touch you so deeply. The characters are innocent and pure and realistic in their journey. This story will draw your emotions to the surface and the ending will tear out your heart with happiness and sorrow. This can be read as a standalone but I am happy there are more books in the series because these characters deserve their own stories. You will enjoy this book.

I loved this book. I struggled a little on whether I wanted to read this one or not. The part that had me questioning whether I wanted to read it was that it's a F/F and I hadn't read one those before. I had no need to worry about whether I would like it or not because absolutely loved thestory. I started reading it and couldn't put it down.
Kamila and Leona's love is so wonderful and strong, that to me didn't matter that they were both female. Kamila passed away when with Leona was five. That's were the paranormal part comes in. This story is beautiful but it's also sad at parts too.
At times a felt bad for Carson. He loves both of them but it's a friendly love. After reading this one I couldn't wait to read Carson's story.
This is one you should one click. It will definitely suck you in so make sure you have time to read it in one sitting.

First of all, I have to say that I wasn't a fan of F/F and paranormal until I read this book. This is the first time I have completely enjoyed and got myself totally sunk in a F/F and paranormal story. I've read other novels with these themes, but in F/F sex was basically the center point (not complaining but never had any more depth besides erotism) and the paranormal stories were more centered in the fantasy world than trying to make it a part of our world. I totally loved how Amanda exposed such tough subjects like death in the eyes of a child and was able to expose that inocence that only a child would now. I was so hooked and fell in an emotional roller coaster that I didn't want to end.
