SUSPENSE SAMPLER is a collection of three mystery authors. Three authors give readers three interesting main characters: Agent Jamie Dallas, an undercover FBI agent; Detective Laura Cardinal, a homicide investigator for Arizona Department of Public Safety; and Attorney Sabre Brown, a Juvenile Court attorney. All three of these authors feature strong female protagonists pursuing justice and working against difficult odds.
THE TRIGGER by LJ Sellers introduces Agent Jamie Dallas, a dedicated FBI undercover agent who is a loner in her personal life, but is assigned the job of infiltrating a “preppers” group, seeking to solve the mystery of a missing mother and child. Dallas’ assignment is to slip into a group led by the mother's husband to unravel the details of his wife and son’s disappearance. Sellers grabs her readers attention, adding several subplots and interesting support characters. Her readers go behind the scenes with Agent Dallas and see the dangerous nature of undercover work. After following Dallas in her investigations, they look forward to additional adventures in The Target and The Trap.

Jamie Dallas is an FBI agent who excels as undercover work. She loves any assignment that gets her out of Phoenix. When a woman and her baby disappear from an isolated community of preppers in Northern California, Jamie is ready to go. She’s relieved to be getting away from her so-so boyfriend, and she’s worried about the fate of the woman and child. Separated from her team, she’ll have to rely on her wits and strength to save the day and the world from a twisted hacker’s plan.
The Advocate – Teresa Burrell
Sabre Brown is a juvenile court attorney who is consumed by the mystery of her missing brother. Her professional and private lives collide when she advocates on behalf of a nine-year-old girl with a father who will do anything to get custody. The father seems to be stable and loving, but there’s something about him that just gives her the willies. Things go horribly wrong and Sabre must use her wits and determination to save herself and the little girl from an unthinkable fate.

The case reminds her of something from her own life – the abduction of a schoolmate 18 years earlier. The case takes her across the social strata and makes her confront ghosts from her own past.
I thoroughly enjoyed this three-book “Suspense Sampler.” The novels feature strong women – strong in different ways, but each with a relentless sense of fair play and uncompromising dedication to their chosen profession. Jamie Dallas and Laura Cardinal can kick ass and take names, and Sabre might be softer, but she still perseveres, even when it might cost her her own life.
I was given a copy of this set with the understanding I would give an honest review. The sampler offers the first book in each series for a (currently) low price, which gives the reader the opportunity to check out three different authors with very appealing central characters. Two were new to me (Sellers and Black). I am a big fan of Burrell’s, having read “The Advocate” some years ago – long enough ago, however, that about 90% felt new. It stood the test of time. And I liked the work of the new-to-me authors enough that I will read more in their series.

Suspense Three Ways
Calling the "Suspense Sampler" three explosive mysterires is not an exaggeration. Though each of these stories is very different, they share a common element that makes each of them a page turner. If you are a fan of good mysteries or are looking for an introduction to the genre, I highly recommend this Suspense Sampler.
