The world has come to an end. The dead have risen to devour the living. Mike and Jen find themselves trapped in their home with two neighbors, teenaged children. Staff Sergeant Brown finds himself leading a squad of National Guard troopers in the Government’s first attempt to control the outbreak. He soon finds himself and two of his troopers separated from their unit. Staff Sergeant Brown again finds himself leading not only soldiers, but also an ever increasing number of civilians as they attempt to escape from the never ending masses of undead. After a helicopter rescue results in tragedy, he leads them out of the city. How long can he keep the rag-tag group of survivors alive in this world over-run by a new APEX predator?
Source: The author sent me a ecopy of this book for an honest review. Apex Predator had a great plot, great characters and it was a page turner. I really enjoyed this book. I had no idea it was a zombie book, which is one of my weaknesses. I really enjoyed reading it! I couldn't put it down.
As for what I disliked... The editor of this book has disappointed me. I've read books with typos before but the Editor is suppose to fix all the typos. I constantly ran across typos and words that don't fit. For example. One page the character Jackson was talking but the name Anderson was there instead. (This happened sometime after the "Body Shop" incident.)
Other than the editor's failed attempt at doing his/her job, this book was wonderful! I really enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed the story of this book and the characters. As I would expect in a zombie novel, it was packed with the right amount of introducing new characters and killing off others. There were definitely some interesting twists and it kept me engaged from start to finish. All that being said there is one recommendation that I do have, and that would be a glossary of the military terms. At points I didn't quite understand what they were talking about as I am not familiar with the military language and abbreviations. A glossary would have been extremely helpful. Otherwise, I can't wait to read more!
