Regrets. While everybody has them, some are more profound than others. Jenny's latest adventure introduces her to two men, each dealing with remorse over their past actions. As she uncovers the truth about the lives of these men, she comes to terms with her own questionable decisions, leading her to wonder if the happiness she'd once found was nothing more than a distant memory.
As she sits by the pool watching her kids splashing around, Becky Durfee is busy under an umbrella writing her Jenny Watkins Mystery series. A statistics teacher by trade, she uses her spare time to explore her more creative side.
She has worked full time, stayed home with kids, gotten married, gotten divorced, gotten re-married, acquired step-kids, juggled a career and a home, been pregnant, puked from morning sickness, given birth, peed from sneezing (directly related to that whole 'birth' thing) and somehow has managed to laugh through it all. Those experiences lend themselves to believable characters and humorous plot lines in her Jenny Watkins Mystery series.
Driven was accepted into the Self-e Library Journal in October of 2015.
I was captivated by the first book in this series, and stayed up all night finishing that book. As the story progresses, I am emotionally invested with Jenny and Zach, and have been really impressed by the story-telling Ms. Durfee is showing.
Then I got to "Haunted" - all other books have been rated 5 stars. This one not so much. Very preachy, very "how much better I am than you". If I had started here, I would not have bought/read the other books. I know the charities she is espousing are doing good work, but the blatant "you must do this" is nauseating. I don't buy mystery books to be lectured.
I think I would rather skip this one book in the series.
This is Book 8 in the series and they are meant to be read in sequence. Not stand alone books. I really liked the first 4 books in this series. Then the next ones were a 3 and half stars for me.This book did not really do it for me, 3 stars. I am still invested in the overall story line, but this book left me feeling all doom and gloom. I have bought the next book, so am continuing with this series.
I know that l wrote a review that the last book was outstanding and it was! But, this book was like a shining light despite the truth of murder in all it's forms! Kudos to the author for her observations of current subjects which she wove into a story that has to touch so many people from all walks of life. I have to give it 10 stars for compassion, understanding and approach!
This is another wonderful addition to the Jenny Watkins Mystery series that I very much enjoyed. This one catches up with Jenny at the birth of her baby and follows her as she tries to deal with the pressures of being a new mother and tries to solve the mysteries of the visions she is having. Once again this author has written a story with twists and turns that keep you guessing until the very end. Jenny is one of my favorite characters from books of this genre and I always enjoy following her adventures. I definitely will be looking for this author's next book.
Still a good storyline, a couple of editing errors, literally 2 at most. Love the veteran aspect to the story. I believe the author was drawing attention to issues many deal with.
This series is unrealistic psychic inherits great wealth going around to help innocent people but the characters are likeable and the scenes are truthful
