I am currently rewatching the telly adventures of the twelfth Doctor and they do not disappoint at all, they are beter thsn remembered.
This comic has the Doctor and Clara Oswald meeting a multiverse protection force chasing a multiverse crossover. Then there is the Space Squid invasion who want to conquer earth starting with Las Vegas, but Frank, Dean & Sammy have something to say about that. The last one issue story is just sweet and short.
Nice Doctor Who strange tales with decent art. Always a pleasurable voyage when the Doctor is involved in any guise.

Far, far better than the previous volume, although that was a very low bar.

The first story, Fractures, gives us some interdimensional drama to deal with as the Doctor and Clara head back to Coal Hill only to run afoul of the latest UNIT mishap. This one's got some good heart, an intriguing set of villains that opens up something that Doctor Who hasn't often played with (parallel universes), as well as remembering that Clara can contribute to the active plot without just being kidnapped and such.

Gangland, the follow-up story, is decent, but not as good as the main one. The historical context is nice, but the aliens are fairly lacklustre, even if the resolution's pretty clever. Why anyone let Rassilon become President of Gallifrey, I have no idea. There's also a short Free Comic Book Day story (I assume) included which could probably have benefited from being a few pages longer.

The artwork is mainly by Brian Williamson, who does a good job of keeping the action flowing and the characters looking like they should.

Upward trajectory! We like an upward trajectory. Keep on this one please, Twelfth Doctor comics.

So, these new Doctor Who comic series from Titan Comics are fun, but if you're not already a fan of The Doctor I wouldn't bother with them. Watch the TV series instead and if you become nearly half as obsessed as I am, then try the comics. The is fine, although often a but stiff, the real draw back is the stories. There is nothing wrong with the stories, they are fun, enjoyable, light reads - but that's also the problem. There really isn't anything about them that pushes the Whovian bubble of fandom. The comics would be more fun if the stories took chances, went out the way to shake things up; then there might be something here to really Rickommend. If you're already a fan, you mint enjoy this, but I'd become a fan before reading it otherwise.

While Clara goes back to school to help her students speak their own language properly (aka English class) the Doctor discovers some alternate universe shenanigans! And then they go to Vegas and gamble with aliens. As you do. I don't know, over all this graphic novel was ok, but kind of forgettable.

Fractures. Doctor Who has occasionally played with alternate realities, from "Inferno" to the Cybus cybermen stories. This arc rather joyfully dives back into that realm by imagining a void between realities and what lives there. However, Morrison also anchors the stories in a very real family, giving it depth and emotional resonance. And his Twelve and Clara continue to be great [4/5].

Gangland. At heart, this is just another alien-invades-Earth story. But, Morrison (no-relation) makes delightful use of '60s trope, including a hilarious group of singers, and even touches upon fun elements of Gallifreyan mythology, resulting in quite a fun romp [4+/5].

The stories are good, I really like the concept of beings from the "void"/gaps between parallel dimensions/realities, and the time gun is pretty cool too (And of course it had to be Rassilon who owned it). However, I don't really like the art/drawing, I can barely recognize Clara most of the times, but I liked the panels where they only showed The Doctor's eyes, definitely reminds me of that bit in Day of The Doctor, so I'll give them that, overall, 3/5.

It's been a while since I read the first volume of this series, but the beauty of Doctor Who comic series is that you often don't need to know what came before.

Volume 2: Fractures is a collection of two medium-length stories and one short one at the end. The one that gives it's name to the book is a tale about cross-dimensional travel and dangerous reprisals. It features a family reuniting in spite of death, some Tory lookalike villains, Kate Stewart, UNIT and a problem for the Doctor to face again someday. Standard but reliable Doctor Who fare.

Gangland is a fun trip to Las Vegas during the height of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack (or should that be 'Frank Seneca and The Wolf Pack' for copyright reasons?), where the Doctor must deal with alien gangsters from Time Lord history. I liked the concept of Rassilon Roulette, where a time bomb bullet could potentially destroy a player's timeline, though I'm not sure the great and powerful founding Time Lord would have given his gambit such a cheeky name. It was interesting to learn a little about boxer-turned-mob-enforcer Sonny Lawson (in real life Sonny Liston) and the ending pleased.

The third and final story The Body Electric had potential but was much too short. By the time I had a handle on the premise, it was a page from being over. This was a shame as the artwork was the sleekest of the collection. Brian Williamson served Robbie Morrison's storytelling well but his photo-realistic style permeates a lot of the Doctor Who Titan comics. Mariano Laclaustra's six pages here were a pretty break from that.

To sum up, I enjoyed Fractures well enough but it didn't thrill me. Nevertheless it is new Doctor Who content and that is always welcome by me. I recommend Doctor Who, Volume 2: Fractures to like-minded Whovians looking for some more Twelve Doctor adventures.

First, I have to reiterate - Robbie Morrison nails the voice of these characters. I was literally hearing every Doctor caption in Capaldi's voice, and it worked perfectly. Clara wasn't quite as on point, but there were definitely moments that felt like they came right out of the show.
The stories here (two three-issue arcs) are strange in a very Doctor Who manner. The first features time travel, alternate worlds, and an interesting villain whose visuals work very well on the page. The story felt a little familiar, and the Doctor's final action doesn't completely make sense, but overall it's a fairly kinetic and frantic fun Doctor Who story.
The second story is even weirder, with Clara and the Doctor protecting a brat pack variation from an alien invasion. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense afterward, but it was fun to read, and the brat pack stand-ins worked even if the villains were ultimately pretty easily dispatched.
The artwork is pretty good throughout, although Clara's appearance ranged pretty far from her television counterpart. But otherwise, the action and the characters were well portrayed. This is a good option for Doctor Who fans jonesing for some new stories; they should just about fill the void left by the long hiatus of the TV episodes.

Disclaimer: I hate Clara.

The first story in this volume is a little disjointed and we flip back and forth between a girl who recently lost her father, a weird body snatching alien, and the Doctor and Clara. It's your basic rip in reality, alien policing, the Doctor finds a way story.

The second story is slightly more interesting, if only because it features Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. Well, it features stand-ins for those characters, is that some sort of legal thing? They can't use their likeness? Oh and the Rat Pack is called the Wolf Pack and they randomly howl....Whatever, the point is the story takes place in Vegas golden Rat Pack era which is really fun. I just wish there was more rat pack and less Clara.

The Capaldi likeness and voice are mostly dead on here, so there's that going for it. Hell, I suppose the stories are plausible as filler from the last couple of seasons too, though that doesn't mean they're much cop, and Smuggy McSmugface is definitely represented accurately (more's the pity). But I don't get why the Rat Pack all get their surnames changed when you can't libel the dead and it's a pretty flattering portrayal anyhow.

better drawing, especially in the first part, than in the last book, the stories are loosely bound together in a whovian fashion by the "hyperion wars" and leave enough open questions for further story development.

The Twelfth Doctor does 'Flatline' but with a bus.

Art: Brain Williamson and Marino Luclaustra together have a style that feels very stark and sketchy. The colours are very bold and distinctive but never overlap. I can't say if it's any good as far a western comic art simply because I don't read many western comics. What I can comment on is how well they captured Peter Capaldi's and Jenna Coleman's likeness. They went for a design that tried to look realistic to main show's live action appearances. You can tell it's Clara and The Doctor at least 70% of the time. Sometimes when around other characters they do lose a little bit of likeness but are still identifiable.

Fractures: The first story absolutely nails the relationship of Clara and The Doctor. They are always quipping with each other and it's handled so well that I can hear Capaldi and Coleman's voices coming off the page. The story does feel like a it's ripping of especially the scene

Gangland: I do love the stories that try to feature famous 20th century celebrities but can't because of copyright so resort to 'paying homage'. . There are probably references that I missed so go hunt for them yourself but just know that this story is very reference heavy. Beyond the references and the fan service it's not a very significant story, still entertaining though.

The Body Electric: This one is very brief and just felt rushed to meet the publishers deadline.

Favourite character: The Doctor
Least favourite character: The octopus things

Mini-review: Man I miss the Twelfth Doctor. I'm so glad for expanded universes so the character can live on. The Vegas story was probably my favourite and I am now immensely sad that that story never made it to the small screen, because I would've loved to see Peter Capaldi in a fedora and Jenna Coleman rocking some go-go boots. I enjoyed this.

The second collection of the 12th Doctor's adventures has the title story "Fractures" and then the follow-up "Gangland."

WARNING: SOME SPOILERS MAY FOLLOW!

"Fractures" revisits the idea of alternate universes, people switching between them, Void-stuff, and the Boneless (creepy two-dimensional beings from the Season 8 episode "Flatline.") It is suitably creepy and interesting, although I was thinking about Rose the whole time because I thought that the Doctor had sealed the dimensions... but never let logic (in any form) get in the way of a good story! The art is a mixed bag, as the Doctor looks more like himself but Clara still doesn't look like Clara. But the dialog between them is more entertaining than in the first two stories.

Ever wonder what would happen if Cthulhu entered a Las Vegas casino in the 1960s? Well, "Gangland" does just that! Or something close to it. There are octopus aliens. It's a neat story with some chilling potential repercussions. (Imagine what would happen if the Doctor's entire timeline was erased from existence. Scared yet?) The dialog and characters are great, Clara kicks some alien butt, and the artwork is cleaner and more detailed.

The overall quality of the art and stories improved in this volume so I'm happy to continue reading the comics.

Okay, this second volume of the comics dedicated to the Twelfth Doctor feels a lot closer to his characterization in the show. He's less of a grumpy caricature and more of an eccentric but still grumpy genius. And you can feel the banter between him and Clara flows a lot better, so I guess the creative team has a better grasp of how their dynamic works at this point.

This volume covers two story arcs - one involving yet another group of interdimensional beings who punishing those who would cross the barriers haphazardly, these being the Fractures, and the second involving a most strange invasion of aliens in 1960's Las Vegas. Both arcs are pretty solid with a lot of interesting twists and turns with the former being more grave and the latter being a little lighter - relatively speaking.

I really enjoyed this volume down to the bonus comics at the end of each issue - definitely a lot of timey-wimey Time Lord fun here.

Another collection of three Titan Comics stories featuring the Twelfth Doctor and Clara. The first is about a bereaved family trying to reunite across timelines but finding that nasty timey-wimey creatures want to get involved. The second has Sammy Davis Junior, Dean Martin and friends thwarting alien invasion in 1960s Las Vegas. The third has Clara reflecting on her own role as she helps ward off another alien threat to an exploitative human colony, and perhaps goes in the wrong direction. All decent enough.

Two more OK stories with Clara and the Twelfth Doctor. Morrison gets the voices of the characters down. The art though especially in the first story suffers from same face. All of the female characters look like Clara and it gets confusing. I did like the story though as Doctor Who doesn't delve into alternate realities very often.

The second story is just another generic aliens invading Earth story, set in Vegas in the 60's. For some reason there's a knock off Rat Pack instead of the real thing that makes it feel even goofier.

It's a pretty great selection of stories. It expands on time lord lore especially rassilon in a really interesting way. It has some very fun witty writing that makes all its characters very charming. I think this doctor is still a little too detached but to be fair that is a trait of early Capaldi so it makes sense that it's here. I mean it's got the doctor teaming up with the ratpack it is worth it for that alone. 7/10

It’s only been two comics but I really prefer the dynamic of the Twelfth and Bill to the Impossible Girl Clara. The plot of this volume was interesting if a bit too similar to the Void storylines in the series. The second portion was fun, if a bit tongue-in-cheek with the flying saucers and alien invasion.

I have to say that the two stories were probably the most Doctor Who comics that I have ever read from reading Doctor Who Comics. It seems that this time, the author wrote to the personalities of Clara and the 12th Doctor. Another thing I like to mention is that I like how the comics can be a part of the TV series, and it does not seem to be an isolated story-telling from the entire series.

The first story, involving creatures from between the worlds of the multiverse, is pretty good, feels much like a quality episode. The second, involving old enemies of the Time Lords and Las Vegas mobsters, is OK, but falls short of its potential. (B+)

This one was a bit better than Volume 1. I loved The Doctor's humorous remarks regarding English teaching. And I actually did like Clara's observation of how The Doctor himself is a gambler. Plus, the whole thing about going against the universe for family is still heartwarming.
