His First, Unexpected Love

Seth Harjo is the star quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, and he loves women! Black, white, Hispanic, and Asian. Are all given equal access to the star quarterback’s bed. No matter their size, shape or color, he enjoys them all indiscriminately. At least that’s what he used to say before his heart is irrevocably crushed by Jasmine Blackman. He meets her while playing touch football with her brothers and accidently tackles her to the ground. The instant his eyes collides with hers, it is love at first sight.

˃˃˃ He Would Do Anything To Be With Her, But Sometimes That Isn’t Enough

She has four massive brothers who adamantly oppose his amorous pursuit. But nothing except death could keep him away from her. For months he is the happiest man in the world. He finally has the woman of his dreams, someone who loves him as much as he loves her. But sometimes love isn’t enough. When she walks away, his life is a black void without her. Why is she back demanding closure? How can he possibly trust her again?

˃˃˃ She Knew Better Than To Get Involved With A Professional Athlete

Jasmine Blackman knows better than to fall in love with a professional athlete. Growing up with four brothers in the profession, she knows their player ways. She has no excuse for falling for bad boy Seth Harjo, star quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. But the heart wants what it wants, and nothing he does dissuades her. The instant he flashes those golden boy dimples, she is lost. Ignoring the objections of her brothers and her own common sense, she mistakenly believes they have a future together. Confronted by his betrayal, she has no choice but to leave while she still has some pride left.

The first romance novel I ever read was Cinderella! I devoured Disney’s version of romance until I was eleven, and then I discovered Mills & Boons. In those days kissing was the most explicit intimacy disclosed: the hero and heroine went to bed and came out the next day with smiles! I had no idea what happened, but I was intrigued. My mom had shelves and shelves of them. Over the long summer breaks, I barely left my bedroom! My busy parent had no idea what I was up to. I’ve always been fascinated with love stories. I started writing in college, but I never expected anyone would ever read my whimsical musings. LOL! Now years later, after husband and kids, and a solid career in finance I’ve started publishing those early ideas.

I write my stories so that every woman would be inspired to find the other half of themselves. With every story I tell, my Caribbean sisters are highlighted. Our culture is a melting pot of all ethnicities, where love has no color. We love who we love and make no apology for it. These stories are also infused with my love for sports and action thrillers. I’m an avid sports fan. Tennis, football, track and basketball are my favorites. I devour dramas and action movies. So it’s to be expected that my books have a healthy dose of adventure.

Writing romance novels has been a dream I never knew I had. It was born out of suddenly having a little extra time with the kids out of the house. I absolutely love this creative outlet.

Author’s Creed
I like women strong, and my men stronger!
I like my sex raunchy but meaningful!

Another great read by this author. I have read the stories out of order but this did not impact on my enjoyment of the stories.

This is Seth and Jasmine's story. I love the pace and action of the story. Jasmine I thought was a total hard ass when it came to Seth, she did not even give him a chance to explain what happened. I could understand on that night she may have been too mad to listen but later? She could have heard him out. They wasted so much time.

I look forward to reading book 1. I am still enjoying how this author writes her stories.

Jasmine & Seth!

I have truly enjoyed all three of the Soul Brothers books! Their journeys are page turners. I missed my epilogue, I wanted to recap Seth & Jasmine's big wedding & children and hopefully Seth's retirement as he & the kids follow Mommy on the tennis circuit! Again, all 3 books entertained me much!

A great ending to such a rollercoaster of a ride!

Jaz and Seth were perfect for one another! They both hid their attraction first and then fought it but in the end love won! I've enjoyed every story in the Soul Brother's series! A few grammatical errors but a great read!

Seth and Jaz rock!!

This was really good. Seth and Jaz are infectious and adorable. Jaz walks in on an awkward situation and needs no explanations.. So she walks away for 2 years an then decides she needs closure and then the fun begins. There were several page's I reread they were so good. Loved Jasmine's family.. Kept me laughing. Good read!!

Diverse Love

This was a great love story. I loved how diverse the characters were and how Love was the main focus. Seth and Jaz were like firecrackers in and out of the bedroom with their explosive tendencies around each other. I loved their support for each other, when things were uncertain. That is what Love is about, that ability to be steadfast and respectful to the one you chose. Great story!

I love when love had no color.

I enjoyed this book because the female has her own strengths. I don't like when the woman is dependent on the man to complete her or validate who she is.

Nice Rom com

It's funny, playful, erotic and romantic...if you are a football lover...you will definitely love this book...I do not care one iota about football...but I do love tennis....so I enjoyed the continuous back and forth between the characters....two athletes in love...this book also had Jaden and Max in it with their partners...Seth and Jasmine are so cute together....a sweet romantic comedy infused with a contrived plot which was a little played out....but I like the author and her work.

Good

It was a well written book. Once again, I'm reading a book that the woman lead is hard. Now I'm not saying she didn't have reason to be upset but to carry that into years, was crazy!

Superb

One of the best multicultural romance novels that I've read in a while. Interesting characters and all the brothers are well developed characters.

Wasted Potential

This was the first time I’ve read anything by this author. I became interested by the blurb’s description of Seth Narjo. I honestly didn’t even read the entire description or else I may not have read the novel. My issues were the plot, continuity, research & grammar, as well as editing.

*SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT*

I don’t know if it is common for this author to randomly throw in a plot “twist”, and if it is, it certainly didn’t work this time. Out of the blue, some strange text messages are delivered to Jasmine’s cell phone. She is a professional athlete, (like her four brothers and the Hero, but somehow, their teammates don’t recognize her and one tries to assault her in front of the team, the news of which doesn’t reach the top brass of the team), but she doesn’t tell anyone about the threats. There needed to be just a bit of a backstory about the people threatening her so that it would make sense instead of being so random. It would have been more intriguing if the twist had been introduced in the blurb.

Continuity is a big deal to me. Even including flashbacks. It’s impossible to determine how much time has passed at some points in the story. The length of time that Seth & Jasmine are together the first time doesn’t seem to jive with everything around them. The football offseason, her recovery as well as her tennis schedule, and the basketball season seem to run into one another. I realized a few chapters in that the author must not speak American English. Call me a stickler for detail, but I expect an author to do basic research when writing about a topic or place that isn’t native to their birthplace. That goes for grammar and wording as well. Using sorted to describe a person is not something someone who speaks American English would do. There were several instances of that type of mistake. Yes, it’s minor, but repeated instances is not good editing. There were missing words in a few sentences and missing punctuation.

I gave this book three stars because it had a lot of potential. The plot, BOTH OF THEM, were pretty unique. I may read something else by Ms. Mortimer. I hope I’m not left wanting.

Strong and sassy

Seth and Jasmine were very strong and sassy characters and were totally made for each other. I loved how her brothers were overprotective of her but didn't mind Seth checking her. The one thing that I hated about this story is the team that Seth played for since I despised the Cowgirls in real life. Then, to have the team play my favorite team the Patriots was just torture, so I'm a little salty about that Super Bowl win, even though it's fictional. Lol Nevertheless, the story and characters were very strong and developed. I can't believe Cat was in labor but stayed at the game; but then again, when you love football like that, it's kinda understandable. I know I love me some football. I enjoyed the banter between Seth and Jasmine and glad that they found their way. They kept each other on their toes.

I Love This Book

My my my this book was so freaking good. Jasmine and Seth burned up the pages in this book. They both were so stubborn. I love that they finally got it together for this happy ending. D.M. Mortimer you are now one of my favorite authors. Can't wait to read more books from you.

I liked Seth and Jaz together. They were really cute, but they never really dealt with the issues keeping them apart. Trust is hard to repair when broken, and they summed it up with just the one conversation about it being a misunderstanding. I just wish it was a little more, especially when they were broken up for years because of it.

Wow!! Determination and strength = HEA

Oh wow!! This book was so good. Loved that Seth and Jasmine were two strong individuals and knew that they had a connection. Both were stubborn as heck, but Jasmine was a little over the top with hers when she didn't allow Seth to explain the hotel misunderstanding. Loved that they supported each other the way they did, and Seth really protected his wife. This book had me laughing and crying. Both sets of brothers along with mom and dad were hilarious. And my most Favorite part of the book was that Seth, Nathan, and Marcus playing for the Dallas Cowboys. I have been a Cowboys fan since the age of 8 (go cowboys ). All 3 books in this series were great. Would love to see the Blackman brothers with their own stories.

All the potential in the world, the developing storyline was interesting and had the makes of a wonderful novel; however, I never could become engaged with my attention fully invested. I will definitely have to give this story another try later on.

Good read

Like the plot but the character of the Jasmine was too childish with few qualities of to be interested in. The mother was very passive.

All over the place

This book was all over the place. It was a rom-com,suspense, thriller, and sports romance all rolled into one. It was just too much and just too unreal.

'Vixen'? really?
I have to be in a certain mood to read a book where someone uses the word 'vixen' to talk about a woman (or the book has to be very good otherwise).
Since I'm not, it goes to my DNF-pile...

Good

Okay this was good.story it just was not a great story. This addition to the series was lacking something in the chemistry category and it was missing some parts in telling of this relationship between Seth and Jasmine. There are times you just don't like Jasmine, like who doesn't tell their family when you are being threatened. Also I have to say that was one of the not so good first time together love scenes.Jasmine disappointed me at some point I keep waiting for the writer to stop the little girl antics, and that mouth I mean your a world famous athlete. But hats off to Seth finally standing up and taking charge the way you want the alpha to do.There are moments when you get to laugh out loud and that's really good and those times appear whenever the mother is present.I love the mystery of the stalker and the action that follows. This is a romance that needs to be taken back and reworked.Like a said a good story just not great.
