Greek Village/Greek Island #15

The Rush Cutter's Legacy

Rate this book
The Rush Cutter's Legacy is the fifteenth book in the series The Greek Village Collection by INTERNATIONAL BEST SELLING AUTHOR Sara Alexi.

The Rush Cutter’s Legacy is a tale set in the hot and sunny climes of rural Greece where, during one fateful summer, a young girl’s eyes are opened as she experiences a whirlwind of love, heartache and the effect of manipulative relatives.

Greek Villager Vasso owns the local kiosk. A permanent fixture in the village, the tiny wooden hut is crammed to the rafters with the day to day necessities of the locals who shop there. Over the years, as she sells her goods, she learns the stories of her fellow villagers; stories she loves to share with her good friend over a frappe.

But one thing that hasn’t gone amiss amongst the gossip is the absence of Vasso’s own story. Always keen to talk about the lives of others, Vasso has rarely allowed a glimpse into her own past, until now - and as we travel back through her life, we come to understand the events that made her who she is today.

At a young age Vasso was sent to a nearby island to work in a tavern. A summer of love beset with challenges ensued as she comes to know the family of her new lover and finds herself faced with a father’s broken heart and a step mother’s jealous and controlling ways, both of which lead to consequences beyond her control.

Events on the island alter the course of Vasso’s life permanently - and it isn’t long before she decides she must return to the village, alone. But what was it that drove her back? And why has she been so reluctant to share her own story?

Best selling author Sara Alexi was born in Oxford, England. After travelling widely she now splits her time between England and a tiny rural village in the Peloponnese, in Greece, where she has renovated a stone farmhouse, whilst observing the Greek way of life and absorbing the culture.

As a qualified psychotherapist, Sara ran her own practice for years. Her artistic nature was, during that time, confined to painting and she exhibited widely. Her move to Greece was the catalyst that began her writing.

Her 'Greek Village Series' has been very well received and provides a keenly observed, compassionate insight into the Greek people and culture, and the human condition in general.

Another great story. A small village in Greece is home to each of the characters in this series of books. Each character in turn has their story told.
In this tale we hear about Vasso who is sent as a young woman to work for the summer in a relation's taverna on the island of Orino. Love and jealousy, selfishness and selflessness intertwine in this tale and we discover how Vasso grows up, falls in love but returns to her native village in sorrow. A happy ending makes this a feel-good read.

As usual, I loved the book. Alexi sits off in the dark corners of peoples' homes and tavernas. Then, she weaves stories of the villages and islands around her. For years I have read of Vasso in her Kiosk in the center of town. Because of this book, I now know Vasso's story. She is the hub of the village in her little store. People love and trust her and so will you, but you need to let yourself be swept away to Greece by Juliet's story. Then, you can sit in the dark corners and learn the stories and wisdom of the people, island, and small towns.

Escape to the Greek isles

The written picture is so clear you feel like you are there with the ocean currents and scents. Right in the center of it all with the chinking of glasses and the incredible flavors. You feel the disposition of love and passion to the cynical and hard planes. You breathe and savor Vasso’s surreal life and reset your own.

Sara Alexi’s writing

As always I love how Sara Alexi can describe her characters. This book is all about Orini Island and the vivid description with the beautiful Greek characters who inhabit that part of the world. Another tasteful moving romance. One day I would like to visit this area.

From the family undone.

A warm and loving story born of a family so dysfunctional that it doesn't seem possible. Good story pictures and fun dialog. It's a girlie read for a great time.

Again Sara takes me into a world I have never been in my lifetime. However my head and my heart go there every time I read one of the Greek Village stories. I love these people and I love this place. I use to want to go there physically but I now feel like I have been there many times and know so many wonderful people there. I am satisfied to keep this place and these people here in my heart and my mind. I can go visit anytime. This story is a story in a story In a story about people we only once new casually and now Sara has taken us into their very hearts and let us get to know them as if we knew them all their lives. Like others who read Sara's books I can't put it down and then when I do I wish I had made it last longer. Good to know she has another one coming out soon.

Book 15

I got this book on Book Bub and almost didn't read it when I found out it was "book 15." I am so glad I did. I read it straight through in a few hours and now I can't wait to read the others. I feel sure that you do not need to read the books in order, because this book could totally stand on it's own. The characters were so real and so intriguing. It was masterfully written and totally believable. The ending was so satisfying. I highly recommend this book who loves a good character and setting driven story.

Hurray, Vasso's backstory! Did not disappoint, I *knew* she was mysterious. The only thing I'm a little unhappy about was the stepmother, it was a bit of a neat tie-up in the end.

Another great story in the Greek Village series. I don't think it's the best one, but some of the others are so good that it would be hard to better them. That doesn't take anything from the enjoyment of this book and I most certainly will read every book that Sara writes. The 5 stars is for her ability to take you with her characters wherever they go, feeling and seeing all that they experience. It's second to none.

Perfection!

Another triumph in the Greek Village collection. This time Vasso's life is the main focus. I love the way all the characters in the series intermingle effortlessly and the stories make sense of life in a small village. Please keep up the good work Sara. Can't wait for the next one!

Sara Alexi's Greek Village books are a window into a beautiful part of the world. Her characters are very real and you will feel you know them as your friends as they intertwine into each other's lives throughout the series. The books are a holiday to a place and people that not every one can travel to on an airplane...but anyone can travel there through the pages of her books. Enjoy the trip!

So poignant and uplifting

This village feels like a large family all supporting each other in so many different ways. The visits I get to share through Sara Alexi's books are like a vacation. The collection is a balance of descriptions, recollections, and dialogue, bordering on perfection.

Delightful. What a delightful, although sad in places, story. It was so good to get to know Vasso and her family much better and how she intertwines with the other characters from both "The Village" and "Orino Island".
