As the weather cools down to winter, let us heat you back up!
This was an intriguing collection of erotic short stories, all with some kind of horror theme. Perfect for a spooky winter night! As with all multi-author anthologies, not every story did it for me. Some of them made me go "meh;" others had me going "eeew!" But the majority were soundly satisfying, with that extra frisson of horror to boot.
A few stories stood out as favorites: "Ghosts Have Pride" was thoughtful and moving; "Mesmerized" was super-hot; "Pan's Playground" almost made me miss my bus stop; and "Don't Lose Your Head" was superbly plotted, darkly erotic, psycho-thriller madness.
In addition, the personal touch of author Q&A at the end of each story made it that much more enjoyable to read, and easy to find more from your favorites. This is an anthology worth reading (especially after midnight....)
This collection of erotica is an interesting mix of styles with the commonality of paranormal or supernatural elements, sometimes veering toward horror. I would consider only the first two stories to be romantic. All the offerings were well-crafted, and I enjoyed learning a little about the authors of each story. It's certainly a wonderful way to sample the work of some of the most gifted modern erotica writers in the indie author world. If you're in the mood for some spookiness or violence in your erotica, then this is the book for you.
To be scared and aroused in the same breathe can be quite an exciting experience, don't you think? You can't tell which emotion is causing the shivers. That's why I was so curious to read this horror/suspense book from writers who specialized in Erotica. Each story was entertaining in it's own way. Not really surprising. To write erotica, a writer needs to have a vivid imagination. Horror is just a simple step in another direction.
