Razor found - and then lost - his true mate at the ripe old age of sixteen. Aaliyah was gorgeous and brilliant and older, engaged to another man and moving across the country.
Now fast forward ten years. Aaliyah is back, divorced, and as enticing as she ever was. But with a pack war on the horizon and emotional scars on both of them from the separation, can they find their way back to each other? Or will Razor lose his last chance with the only woman he's ever loved?
Short (ish) and really sweet, this story had me going ooh, aah and shedding the odd tear as Razor finally gets his true mate and they both get a HEA
'Razor' by Ronin Winters is the fifth book in the fantastic Blue Collar Wolves series as well as being part of the multi-author Mating Season Collection of stand alone paranormal romances and I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review. More sweet than steamy, with a little bad guy action thrown in, it made me both happy and sad, but I was left saying 'aahhh' and had a goofy smile on my face when I got to the end. I absolutely loved it and really didn't want to put it down. I'm struggling with how to phrase a few things, because I don't want you to get the wrong impression here, so I'll just come right out and say it. There is no sexual relationship of any kind between the teenage Razor and his much older true mate Aaliyah. Only after they meet and renew their friendship ten years later is there any kind of hanky panky, and that's really sweet too.
At the grand old age of 14, waiting in Doc's surgery with a broken arm, Razor finds his true mate and immediately his world has changed for the better. Struggling to look after his brothers and protect them from a drunken and violent father, his mate becomes his best friend. Unfortunately, she's ten years older than him and doesn't see him as anything other than a young friend with a bit of a crush on her which maker her feel uncomfortable. At 16 his heart is broken when she tells him she's getting married in a couple of days and moving to the other side of the country. Now it's ten years later and she's back, he saw her across the bar at Doc's retirement party, but knows she didn't see him. He wanted to prepare himself for their reunion, but he's thrown in at the deep end when he has to take an injured child to see the new Doc, Iron's mate, Bella and her nurse Aarliyah and he really isn't prepared....
Not knowing about shifters or true mates, nurse Aaliyah never saw Razor as anything other than a young friend and she was fond of him, she'd hoped that as time passed, he'd get over the crush he had on her and look at girls his own age, but after two years of him helping out at Doc's she realised it wasn't going to happen, so when her boyfriend got offered a job across the country and asked her to marry him, she said yes, for several reasons. Now divorced from the cheating ex, she's home with her family and after working at the hospital with Bella, was offered a job back at Doc's when Bella took over. So, here she was, back where she started and wondering what sort of life Razor had made for himself. She really wasn't expecting him to turn up with an injured child or to still have a crush on her. He'd grown into a wonderful man and she hoped they could be friends. Little does she know......
This was a really sweet story of unrequited love which is reborn as the forever kind and I spent several happy hours curled up and immersed in it, as Razor finally gets his true mate, Aaliyah gets the type of love she deserves, and they both get a happily ever after which left me shedding a tear or two and smiling happily. I can't wait for the next one.
Razor finally gets his mate. Loved this sweet coming of age romance. Razor knew Doc Aaliyah was his mate at the tender age of 14. Aaliyah didn’t know about shifters, she knew Razor had a crush on her but never realised how she broke Razors heart. Aaliyah is back in town after her divorce, as the new doctor. Razor has his chance to get his mate once and for all, never mind the age difference. I have owned these books for ages and had reviewed them previously but a lot of reviews written directly from the back of a book have disappeared. I thought I would review them as I was rereading them for the third time. Be aware these are short stories and I did not pay the current asking price.
The premise was heartbreaking, but realistic, and the characters were nicely written. My main problem with this novella is I could not see the two characters together. They were a couple because they were true mates, but what did they have in common? They listened to each other, and that's it. Nothing in common, no shared goals, no shared history, just friendship and good sex. Granted that is more than most of us are able to find, but I expected and hoped for more.
Ronin's newest edition to the Mating Season Collection is Razor book 5 of the Blue Collar Wolves. In this book we find that Aaliyah has returned after being gone for ten years. While she was gone she married, survived cancer, caught her husband cheating, got divorced and never stopped loving Razor. Razor was just a teenager when Aaliyah left town. He knew she was his true mate but that their age difference would keep them apart. After all he was only 16 and she was 26 so it's not like they could have been together. Now she's back and he's all grown up. I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 for several reasons. First, there are a lot of editing issues throughout the book. Second, there seems to be an over abundance of curse words. I have no issue with the use of cursing in text but I felt like it was used more for shock value than literary gain. There were times when the F word was used so much that the sentences seemed to lose their meaning. Finally I'm not sure what the last paragraph had to do with Razor and Aaliyah's story. It just seemed to have been added as an after thought. I'm sure it's suppose to set up the next book but it didn't flow with the story. Having said all this I really did like the story. I truly hope to get more on their story in the upcoming books. I have read and loved all the books in the collection so far. I hope that when the series is finished there will be a complete collection edition for each set available to purchase. Hint hint... I'd love to read each set from start to finish in series.
Razor found his mate in his mid teens and she was 10 years old no way for it to work. Knowing Razor wouldn't move on to other girls as he should so Aaliyah moved across the country It didn’t really work because she didn't know Razor was a werewolf and she was his true mate. A wolf never just forgets his true mate and moves on. 10 years has passed and Aaliyah is back in town. This time Razor not a 16 year old boy and this time he is not letting her go again. Great story I love the characters and anyone who is a shifter fan would LOVE this little sweet romance. Book gifted for an honest review and I honestly loved it.
My goodness, these wolves are starting to get to me. This one is a story 10 years in the making, when a teenaged Razor, then 16 years old, found his fated mate in 26 year old Aaliyah. Knowing the age gap was too much for him then, Aaliyah moved across the country and married another man. Fast forward a decade, Aaliyah is back, Razor is a manly, man, and second chances are right around the corner. This one is nicely done, more emotional than steamy, and recommended.
Loved the concept, characters, and this series but this book was way to short to get to know the characters well enough and for the story to develop. It has great potential and good story line. Love this author and the other books in the series!!
Razor has known since he was sixteen that Aaliyah is his mate. However, Aaliyah is ten years older and for his own good decides to move away and marry someone else. She moves back after her divorce and Razor is all grown up. This is a short love story.
We finally learn why Razor had that reaction to the lady who came into the bar from book 4. We learn about their history and who she is to him. Will things go smoothly? Will she accept him with no problem? What is next for the pack???
